Ability to disable automatic goal notification

It would be great if we were able to turn off/disable the vibration on the automatic goal notification.  It can be quite startling.  My heart just about stops almost everytime it happens.

This is a serious design flaw and bug from my point of view - the inability to stop the mega vibration on goal completion leaves people only 1 "workaround" option, to increase their main goal to something unattainable... at which point the whole Goals feature is rather pointless.

DerrickFitbit or SantiFitbit could you *please* increase the priority on this, and potentially change it from a "Feature suggestion" to a bug?

This issue is causing a lot of people hassle & making them consider other products.

We need to be able to turn off all vibrations - including goal notifications - during sleep hours.

Sure, unless you sleep walk, you probably won't hit a steps goal while sleeping very often -- but there's always that chance that you go to bed with 9,999 steps and the watch decides you hit your goal at 3 AM.

Sleep hours could be tied to the phone's Do Not Disturb time by default, perhaps, but we definitely need the option to override that and set Fitbit-specific do-not-disturb times.

Yes please add option to disable vibration it is distracting and unpleasant.

Also there should be a way to disable autosync from the website without having to go to the iphone.

You can use the Bluetooth dongle to synchronize with website and bypass the
smartphone. Bluetooth dongle was packaged with the Fitbit Charge HR but not
with Fitbit Charge 2.

I discovered that smartphone app has setting to change the default 10,000 steps to any number. If you set goal alert to very high number then should avoid Fitbit vibrating as lower steps. Set goal to 20,000 and will not vibrate when you hit 10,000 steps.

1) Open Fitbit app on smartphone

2) Select your Fitbit battery icon in upper right corner

3) Notifications

4) Set Steps to 20,000 or higher number.

If you have Fitbit Charge 2 upgrade your software to latest version and you have more control over your notifications.

Work around to stop the vibration at 10,000 steps.

1) Open FitBit app on your Android smartphone.

2) Click Account

3) Click Activity

4) Select Steps

5) Change Steps Goal from 10,000 to 999,999.

6) Click OK to save setting

Please allow us to turn off the buzz that notifies us that our step goal has been reached. It startles me and is very unpleasant.  I HAVE set my goal higher to avoid it. As I get more fit or circumstances...like a long hike or horseback ride occur it happens.  It is no t good to be startled when one is riding a horse!

The other problem is that you never reach your goal.  my goal is to stay around 10,000 steps.  I have it set at 15,00.  when I look at the charts I'm always below.  I would like the charts to be accurate for my situation.

Please make this an option, this is ridiculous that a high end motion tracker cannot have a disable function for the vibrationm.

The vibration physically hurts me and aggravates my tendonitis. I have turned off all other vibrations, but it still vibrates every time I reach my step goal. I will try some of the workarounds people have suggested, but in future I highly recommend that there be an option to completely turn off all vibrations. Thank you.

I need to be able to silence the notification without having to turn them off. Specially at work. I want to still be able to look at my notifications, messages etc but cannot have the vibration going off at the office or at a place where the cell phones need to be silenced.

Is there an update on this feature request?  For calorie goals it renders the purpose of the main goal useless as you have to either take the tracker off when going to bed or set to to an unachievable goal to avoid being woken up just before midnight. An unfortunate oversight.

Some suggestions to overcome this;

  • Create an option to turn off the silent alarm when the main goal is achieved
  • Create an option to change the way you're notified of your main goal achievement (vibrate, email etc).  All options should be an on/off choice (an extension of my 1st suggestion)
  • Create an option to turn off the main goal
  • Create configurable 'no alarm' periods (e.g. no alarms between 22:00 & 08:00) so you avoid being woken up by the tracker if your main goal is achieved while in bed.

Any of these in any combination would be helpful, however the option to turn off the main goal alarm is the simplest and would assist for most people.

Hopefully this can be sorted soon so I can use the fitbit for its main purpose (to reach goals) 🙂

Agree 100% with the above! In addition to being startling, the vibration just chews through the battery. It's a super harmless change to give the user the option to turn off goal achievement vibrations - please and thanks 🙂

This would be great but it would be even better to be able to shut off all goal notifications.  It used to be that they just pushed through apple notifications so you could disable them at the apple layer but now there is this annoying tab that lights up with notifications every day.  I can see clearly that I've met my step goal in the app when I open the app.  Please consider giving us the option to disable all the extra noise.  I would learn to just ignore the notification icon if it wasn't tied to the messages tab.  At present I don't know if it's just the usual notification spam or someone actually sending me a message.

The fact that Fitbit has yet to fix this issue when presented with the number of potentally life threatening examples that have been given is startling. While I wouldn't consider it life threatening, I am easily scared, meaning the vibrations are terrible with my Fitbit Flex. I've set my goal to an impossibly high number, but that, as numerous people have said, ruins the purpose of a Goal.

Seven months later after requesting and still no action to disable vibration?  Fitbit sucks!  I will not be buying again and recommend others look elsewhere.

Yes please.  I just had the very unpleasant experience of the bug that causes the steps to NOT reset at midnight; which means my daily goal rolled over, causing it to vibrate at midnight because I had "reached my goal".  I was sleeping.  I am suffering insomnia and panic attacks and this really. really. really didn't help.  You've had 2 years to fix this.  Please do it.  Can't believe the money we spend on fitbits that disturb our sleep in such an awful and preventable way.

It's really dumb that this feature wasn't built in from the start. I want to be able to track my stats and set goals, but I don't care about the stupid notifications and there is no good way to disable them without making the goals really high. This almost makes me want to return my fitbit and get a less asinine device
