Ability to remove/delete weight goal at Fitbit.com

The weight goal tile when I joined up was an awesome little graph of my weight over time. Then sometime later I wondered what would happen if I set a weight goal, so assuming that I'd be able to remove it afterwards I set a pretend weight goal.

Now I can't remove it, only change it. I don't want to change it, I don't want any weight goal at all. I've removed the tile from my dashboard but I don't want to do that, I just want the weight graph back.

It can't just be me. There must be other people who want to have a weight goal for a while and then change their minds and decide they don't care any more or something. I contacted support to delete my weight goal for me and even they couldn't do it!

Support told me to post it here, so here I am. Can anyone else imagine wanting this feature?

- If you contact Fitbit and open a ticket they will remove the data. Still shocked they haven't made it a user option.

I asked several times and they refused.

K, I've figured out a temporary 'sorta' fix, until they allow us to delete.  Set you weight goal to 1lb.  (or 1kg as the case may be).  This way, the large number that get shown, will always be just one number less than your actual weight.  So when you want to quick glance at your weight, just add one lb more to the number showing.  It's not perfect but it's better than the other 'to go' numbers that were showing.

"If you contact Fitbit and open a ticket they will remove the data. Still shocked they haven't made it a user option." Update: I just contacted FitBit about this and was told the Food Plan could not be deleted. I was sent instructions for editing the food plan and weight goal. Ugh. Other than the idea above all I could think to do is set it to "maintenance" or hide the tile altogether because this doesn't stop it from comparing my calorie intake (which is what I don't want to see). But, you can't hide it from the iOS app or weekly updates.

Please add the option to delete a weight goal. I'd like to track my weight but have no desire to gain/lose weight.

I set a weight goal while playing around with the fitbit features. Now it looks like I have '2 pounds to go'.

Thanks!

That's a really good suggestion @Cassian,  thank you for sharing it with us!

I have noticed that several other people would like to see this implemented so I will pass this along to our team so that they can evaluate the possibility of implementing it in any future release. Thank you for taking the time.

For the people who got it removed, did they remove it from your site AND your phone, or just from one of them?

I think the folks at FitBit are confused and need some re-training.  I've been in contact through email with them this week.  The first 'Fix' they did just set the goal to zero, and I got the WooHoo and then it started couting in the wrong direction again.  I responded and they went back to it.  Then today I recieved the following.:

Thank so much for your response.

Unfortunately. We are not able to deactivate this feature but you can hide the weight tile. To do so , please be so kind to open the Fitbit app. > Tap Edit in the top-right corner. > To hide tiles, uncheck the circle next to the tile you would like to hide. > To rearrange tiles, hold and drag the three lines that appear on the right side of the tile. > Tap Done.

Also if you are using the Android app then you can tap and hold down on the tile and then select hide.

We'll keep in mind the improvement of this feature and we apologize for the inconveniences that this may cause to you. You can vote for this feature suggestion in the following link.

Please accept our sincere apologies , we'll appreciate your understanding while we work to improve our site.

So basically telling me to delete the icon.  I went to the site.... THEY DELETED THE GOAL.  IT'S BACK TO NORMAL.  But on my phone, it's STILL WRONG!  So I'm guessing it depends on who you get in the tech department.  They really need to re-train if this is the case.

@FerdinandFitbit, thanks, that sounds like progress. 🙂

Thanks for your update. When I contacted FitBit I was told the same thing--that the weight goal cannot be removed and I was given instructions for modifying the goal. But as most here have said, I want to remove the goal.

I will try "hiding" the tile in my phone app. I didn't know that was an option.

They should offer the option to delete the weight goal--especially given the number of people who may have challenges with disordered eating.

They where able to remove it for me, that was for both the web dashboard and mobile phone.

It did take a little back and forth but the person I was speaking seem to know exactly what I meant.

Thank you for the help and for sharing your experiences.  I will file another ticket with FitBit and cite this forum topic.  Hopefully they will delete it!

Thank you very much for making this change! I know it may seem a small thing, but it does make a difference to me.

Hi!  I achieved my weightloss goal, and now I'm slowly recomping.  Obviously, my body weight is going to fluctuate a few pounds in either direction.  So I deleted my goal weight.  However, it seems that my old goal is still carried over a few places--on my profile page, some goal-related stuff was still showing up.  That's not great.  Can you look into the bugs?

I agree with the sentiments expressed here. As a long time programmer (going back 40 years) I can say that this must be a trivial thing to implement. Please add a button to edit the goal including possibly deleting it. Thank you.

Totally agree, really want to change to only showing the wight on first screen.

Ok, just found out this was easy to remove ... just click on the 3 dots in right upper corner and there it is, "Remove weight goal" 😉
