Able to create a custom meal and indicate number of servings

I would really like to be able to build a recipie and then indicate how many servings it makes and how much I ate and see nutritional break down by servings too.  I think it would way easier than trying to enter all ingredients then when its time to eat the leftovers I can just add the recipie serving.

Fitbit definitely needs to give users the ability to enter a recipe and calculate the nutritional information for each serving.   I currently use my fitness pal for calculating recipes but it would be easier to do everything in one app.

Yes! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, add a recipe calculator/converter! A lot of people prefer to ear clean and make their own meals this would make recording intake a hundred times more convienent!!!

This is so desperately needed!!! I don't eat fast food or processed food,
and I rarely eat at a restaurant. It is so difficult to try and figure out
what to choose from the options provided. You often have no clue of size
and weight....and definitely no clue about ingredients.

To be honest, I would never have chosen fitbit if I had known this
capability wasn't there.....and I won't purchase another one unless this is
added.

It’s insane an app based on health in a culture where pre-prep is common that this isn’t a TOP priority.

Hi Liz

This is such a shame to hear as it's something so many people have asked
for... As you can see it's also been a couple of years in conversation to
take this long to get an 'no' is really poor customer service.

oh come on Fitbit over 240 votes and still a no?? what have we got to do to get a suggestion implemented as all I have seen have been a resounding no and that topped with the multitude of glaring errors since the change to the IPhone layout of the mobile dashboards that still haven't been addressed and that's been 4 months with many of the errors pointed out during the beta test as far back as November last year, Please Fitbit do your customers a favour and start to fix these as you USED to be one of the best but now it seems that you want us to rely solely on 3rd party apps for things that should be already integrated into your,

I don't like to be Negative but come on give us a break and give us something we have asked for be it the above, the ability to customise our own tiles (including the big one or at least give us the option to separate them if we wish), if the horrid thing you have as a mobile dash is staying (it could be quite useful with a few seemingly simple mods that you seem to not want to make)  and the back history for the whole page and not just the top huge space wasting tile.

a lot of repeated requests for changes to the new dashboard, sleep and food pages can be reviewed in previous comments I have put forward on other forum pages

apologies @LizFitbit for the rant, but surely it should be a can do (watch this space) and not a not planned, yes, it may take time but we the customer knows what we want and what would enhance both your app and your product with the current updates that Fitbit have made

whats more you want us to fill out a survey on how to make the suggestions board better, whats the point?

Regards

the same response was given to the following as well, same thing sort of

https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Feature-Suggestions/Recipe-Converter-with-Ability-to-Save-Recipes/id...

we shouldn't need 3rd party apps for these things , these amends would be what helps to put Fitbit back at the top, well ish

Wow @LizFitbit. I called and talked to a customer service rep who told me to please post my desire for this ability on the suggestion page (I already had) and she said, "We take our customer suggestions VERY seriously!"  Apparently, that was just a flat-out lie. I'm glad I didn't spend much on my FitBit  because I'm considering switching trackers now. I want all of my capabilities in one place and if you can't do this one little thing, which CAN'T be that hard because so many other programs do it, then I guess I'll direct my loyalties elsewhere.

Very disappointed in you.

And another reason to look for a new device when the Alta I am using dies. Heck, I can use a basic pedometer and My Fitness Pal for a lot less money.

@LizFitbit
I can't help but feel utterly infuriated at the response to this. This and the other thread (called Splitting Meals) have over 500 votes on them, and it's a feature that is consistently asked for across time.  To be following this thread and asking myself for nearly 2 years, and to get a "lol, sorry, nope" type response is really pretty shabby.
I appreciate that the app and things are free with the purchase of the fitbit, and this feature potentially has a knock on effect to things on the hardware side of Fitbit like storage and things if those of us who do home cook start saving lots of recipes, HOWEVER, Fitbit are already looking to monetize the reports, which will be utter garbage if we have to continue to use the printed calorific values of recipes from our books and magazines as quick add cals. Why would I spend $50 a year on SuperReporting without this tool?
Surely the purpose of the features is to build brand loyalty, this does nothing for that.
If this is the direction that fitbit is headed, when I'm due to replace I'll look for something else.

Hi everyone, I understand the update is disappointing. I'll be sharing some FAQs soon that will answer some of your questions and provide a bit more insight into decision-making behind Feature Suggestions. They will be in the 'important links' section in the top right of Feature Suggestions. In the meantime, I'll close this discussion for now but keep votes open so we can track community demand over time. Thanks

Hi everyone, I'm sorry for the frustration, I know you want this feature. There aren't currently plans to release this but I will leave this suggestion open for votes, so that we can track community demand over time. I will be adding to our Feature Suggestion FAQs soon, which will provide a little more insight around how Fitbit prioritizes suggestion for development, which I hope will be useful. Thanks.

I'd love to see a section under food where you can build a recipe that will import caloric content. Currently if I have a recipe with caloric content, then I add it under custom and build from there, but not all recipes come with caloric content! In order to properly add my food, I actually go to another app (myfitnesspal) and build the recipe in there, then manually add it under 'custom' in my fitbit app; it would be nice to be able to do this directly in fitbit app! Thank you for your consideration! : )

I agree! I have to go to calorie counter to do that and it would be so awesome if the Fitbit app allowed for adding ingredients to make a custom recipe that could be saved, so when I make a tuna salad sandwich, I could just go to my saved recipes and add it to my food log for lunch that day.

We want the ability to create a recipe by searching the Fitbit database and adding ingredients and then choosing a fraction of what was created as a portion size. Fitbit already has the means to search add ingredients via the Create a Meal feature. Fitbit already has the means to split things into portions via the food logging and the Create a New Food feature. You just need to combine this into ONE feature either by allowing us to portion/split up a meal in the Create a Meal feature or by allowing us to search and add ingredients in the Create a New Food feature. I even think the two features could be combined together into one with maximum flexibility which would allow users to either Create a Meal or a Recipe/Food. This is simple, low-hanging fruit that Fitbit already has the coding for. C'mon- we have been asking for years. Pretty please?

I recently joined Weight Watchers and am LOVING their app. I am currently also logging my food into my fitbit dashboard because I am keeping track of everything I am eating. On the WW plan you can log the "zero points" foods (there are over 200 of them!) but they register as 0 points. I want to make sure I don't overeat on the zero points foods because most all of them DO have calories, fat, etc. I am one who will totally eat al zero points foods, but LOTS of them and that's not going to help me lose weight. So...I am entering my foods in my Fitbit dashboard as well so I can see actual calories.

In ww you can "create a recipe" REALLY easily - you just scan the barcodes or enter all of your ingredients from the food database like Fitbit has (and can create a custom food if it's not listed in the database), then just calculate how many servings are in that recipe. Weight Watchers automatically calculates the ww smart points and saves the recipe. So then you can just enter that recipe any time and the number of servings. It's so easy, and of course really interesting to see what a healthy serving size is compared to what I would normally serve myself. 🙂

I'm really surprised that Fitbit wouldn't offer this feature.

I would love if Fitbit updated to the ability to cater to those who use more whole foods and less prepackaged foods. Allow the ability to actually create a recipe for easier tracking, import a recipe for easier tracking, and make it easier to track foods that are not just prepackaged but foods made at home.

I was using the Lose It app for tracking my food and loved everything about it.  It did sync with the Fitbit app, but I decided I wanted to only have to use one app, so I started logging food in the Fitbit app, but have noticed it lacking in being able to create recipes.

Hopefully Fitbit will implement this feature very soon.

I used the USDA SuperTracker software for years, unfortunately USDA is discontinuing the app 6/30/18. I am currently struggling with the FitBit food app. It's clumsy and relies too much on packaged foods. A simple solution would be for them to incorporate the USDA pub NUTRITIVE VALUE OF AMERICAN FOODS In Common Units Agriculture Handbook No. 456. It is the bible of food information. It was the basis for the SuperTracker data. If FitBit created a searchable data base of this pub all my troubles would be over. As it is I am going to have to enter each food manually and cross reference the calorie values from USDA. Very tedious.

Hi FitBit I absolutely love your app but really hope you could consider when you create a meal to be able to later select the portion size that you had. I often make juices in bulk and then to try and work out what’s in just my one glass that I consume once or twice a day is nearly impossible. It’s also the similar if you cook a large meal prep for the week and only eat an eight at a time which is what I imagine many people do. Please please please could you consider an update making this possible. Wishing you peace health and happiness, Danielle in Perth. Proud owner of the charge 2!

Along with creating meals, it would be convenient to be able to add recipes via desktop or in app.

I make a lot of my own food and it would be nice to be able to separate serving sizes for the meals I create. If I make a whole recipe for egg muffins, I want to be able to only eat 1 serving of that instead of having to break down all the ingredients in the recipe before I log it. If I make a whole Avocado Chicken Salad, I want to divide that into 3 servings because I don't eat the entire meal in one sitting.
