Able to manually add steps on Fitbit app

I can't always wear my Fitbit Inspire 2. and I calculated the miles/steps to add to the dashboard manually. The new app dashboard doesn't allow this and the Web dashboard was taken away from us. My steps and miles will be inaccurate on the days I cannot wear my Fitbit. I'm very disappointed and will likely go with a different brand for replacement.

Agree!  This also becomes an issue when invariably the Fitbit product fails (which it will do, either less than a year in or more annoyingly, right after the one-year warranty runs out)  I'm dealing with this right now as the battery on my Charge 5, that is less than 9 months old,, drains in less than 12 hours.  I can't add the missing steps picked up by my Apple Watch.  And now Fitbit (Google) requires you to return your defective item before it will send you a replacement, meaning that you will be without your device for easily 2 weeks.  Totally unacceptable.  I had already decided never to give Fitbit another cent given its history of devices failing within 18 months, but now the destruction of the app, the elimination of the dashboard and the poor treatment of its customers have cemented my resolve.

It looks like you can add activity if you click on the "exercise days" part of the phone app.

There needs to be a way to manually add steps in the app. I walk on a treadmill and the Fitbit does not detect these steps. Therefore, I have to log them manually. Logging distance, etc. is not accurate. It misses several thousand steps a day. Bring back the dashboard on the website or include steps on the app.

I agree that the users need to be able to add steps manually through the phone app since the web dashboard was removed. The only time I remove my Fitbit is during charging and sometimes I forget to immediately put it back on but have captured the steps using other devices and need to include it with my Fitbit data history. I’ve been a Fitbit Charge user for 9 years (currently have Charge 6) and with every change, it continues to be more difficult to remain loyal to this product.

I echo the sentiments about being able to manually enter steps on the APP.  Without the dashboard on the website and no capability on the app, there is no way to enter those extra steps.  Please consider adding that in the next update!

I can no longer add steps to my Fitbit totals. I need this for when my Fitbit is charging or not available. I will need to change to a different device if I am not able to manually change the steps that I have taken to accurately reflect my steps for the day. Please fix this issue!

With the demise of the dashboard on the web I will no longer be able to add just steps to my my total for the day. I'm unable to wear my Fitbit all the time and use a simple step counter to keep track of how many I take. As far as I can see, there is no option to add these steps despite Google, assuring the app would be the same as the web.

Through the dashboard, we added steps by adding a walk event. This option has always existed in the fitbit app.

Current step count

Add walk exercise

New step count

Now this may not work with iOS, but it does work with Android

@Rich_Laue There is no option to add steps only distance this suggestion does not answer the issue. The web page had an option to add steps the app does not.

Please change the manually added walking activities to allow entry by step count instead of just by miles.  I have two Fitbit trackers and if one is on the charger then I can wear the other one and adjust my counts later.  I know step count, I don't know miles.  When I enter by miles, I have to enter and adjust until I get it close but not exact on the steps.

I cannot wear my Fitbit during the workday. Used to be able to add steps and duration. That I can track. The app requires miles which makes it useless to me since I don't know miles

Moderators keep changing things with my original post, so I thought I'd follow up with an additional comment. Yes, there is a way to add miles on the app, but NOT simply add steps. Basically, I'm extremely disappointed in the fact that Google removed the Web-based Dashboard. I was able to get information faster than on the phone app. The phone app isn't quite as intuitive or easily accessed as Google is making it out to be. As the battery life continues to drain faster on my Fitbit, I'm ramping up reviewing other brands to switch to when my Fitbit eventually dies. I'm done with Fitbit.

I came here looking for the same thing. I used to be able to manually log miles/steps. I would not have purchased a new Fitbit had I known this was no longer a feature. I will not buy another one again if this is not corrected and will start looking now for a different product. This is very disappointing. I have been with Fitbit for 10 years and it seems that the quality and options keep going downhill.

Same as OP.  Google, you are NOT "improving" our Fitbit experience.  Not at all.  But then, I really suspect that you could not care less.  You're going to do what you want to do regardless of what your customers want.  It's a competitive market.  Too bad you're willing to sacrifice your faithful base to try to get a bigger slice of the pie for your Pixel which I, for one at least, have absolutely no interest in.  Sad, sad day.

This needs to be added. There was a way to do this on the dashboard. I lost not only 4,111 steps for today, but the Pixel Watch 2 eliminated my entire 45 minute treadmill exercise. Even with adding it manually, the step count the system thinks is incorrect.

I agree with all those that have asked about adding steps manually when I can't wear my fitbit.  I have been with Fitbit for many years, I think I'm about to about my 6th model of Fitbit.  If this isn't added then I too will have to go looking for another product.  Not sure what they were thinking, it's Google for heavens sake.  As another said, the dashboard was a great way to see how I was doing, finding information and adding things where necessary.  Just a lot easier, especially for an older person, eyesight not what it used to be etc.  Even just finding things was so much easier.  I would guess a lot of older people will be finding the same issue.  Please bring it back.

Please allow the addition of steps through the app to ALL users, not just those who subscribe to Premium.  I often forget to put mine on first thing in the morning and have been losing so many steps while I am out shoveling the sidewalk.  I see where Rich_Laue said you can enter a "walk event", but I don't see that in my app and so I am wondering if that is only available to Premium subscribers.  Either way, please bring back the screen where you can enter steps.  Pretty please?  With monk fruit sweetener on top?  😁

Today my Fit Bit lost battery and malfunctioned - maybe because I went outside in the cold to shovel snow. Not sure. The battery was dead and I didn't know it. So first I lost steps that way and then after I charged it, it malfunctioned and was showing the wrong time, so I synched it. After that it was back to 0 steps. It looks like there is no way to recover those steps. I am a premium user.
