Able to track floors when going down

I climbed one of the mountains in Banff today. My Fitbit had no problem counting the floors going up. It kept the same count going down. Why did it not count the similar amount going down? Should I double the floors count?

The fitbit is only designed to count and look for an increase in altitude not a decrease. Since gravity helps when going down, yea sometimes it helps to much.

I'm not sure of your asking why,  or want the feature to count floors going down?

My Fitbit charge hr stopped counting floors whilst walking back down a mountain, and a button to add the floors in would help as I should have gained my waterfell badge today

Just as @Rich_Laue mentioned, this is expected behavior. Fitbit trackers count floors when the altimeter in the tracker detects a combination of a climb of about ten feet and continuous motion. Click here for more information about how floors are tracked .

I would expect the down count to sub track floor count, not add to.
