Add Interval Training Timer (HIIT) That Buzzes at a Certain Pace

Hello,
I'm excited about the new products. I am a run/walker, and in training for my recent marathon, a friend had a garmin watch that vibrated at certain intervals. (Ex: if I wanted to have a pace of 3min run/1min walk it would vibrate at those intervals to keep me on track).

The Blaze should really have an interval timer option, especially for running! It could vibrate to notify the user at the end of any particular intervals that the user would set at the beginning of the workout. I used Jeff Galloway's method of run/walking as straight running tends to aggravate my knees. Please add this feature!

This is a really great exercise and it would be a good idea to have it included in the activity log. Thank you for sharing your request!

I'm also going to chime in on this old, yet often requested, feature for the addition of configurable interval training settings.  I appreciate the pacing feature  that vibrates based on a predefined distance or time duration; however, intervals are often completed other variables (e.g. run a 1/4 mile / rest 90 seconds or run 60 seconds / rest 120 seconds).

While I do enjoy my Surge, it can't be seriously considered a runner's watch without an interval training feature.  I received the watch for Christmas to replace my reliance on the RunKeeper app on my phone (which has a configurable interval training feature).  In hindsight, the Surge may not be quite ready for prime time...

Please consider incorporating this feature in the next 30-45 days.  Thanks!

I think it would be a good idea to implement a high intensity interval training manager on surge. It would be enough to use vibration alarms on adjustable intervals. I.e. The first after 30", then onother one after 10" of rest (better if a different vibration), and so on for a numer of times set by the user. The possibility to set a defined numer of training would be the best solution. For example t1 10x 30"-10"; t2 15x 30"-30",.........tn 10x 10"-10".

Love the Blaze so far!! I only wish there was an interval timer option for circuit training or HIIT!! And I'd love to be able to edit or create my own custom HIIT timers on my Blaze. Thank you.

It would be great if I could program my Fitbit to measure intervals of 10 minutes running and 1 minute walking and repeat until the activity stops. Seems like a simple feature to me. I love my charge hr, but this additional feature would make me love it more!

I would like to request that HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) training be added to the available exercises in the Fitbit app. The equations for estimating caloric burn for HIIT are readily available. I'm suprised this isn't an option already given the popularity of this type of workout.

I ran across an ad on msn.com promoting the Surge that shows an 'Interval Run' screen on the watch face. This looks a little deceptive to me because as far as I can tell from this thread and my own Surge, this feature hasn't been implemented yet. So what's the deal Fitbit?

ooooo thts interesting but also naugthy if they have just done tht for sales.

FITBIT PLEASE COMMENT ON THIS if not true then this company needs to change the advertising of your surge watch as it is false advertising

although please get intervals added asap you are loosing sales coz of it ...i know lots of runners on a female running page i am on interested in the surge but coz of no intervals people put them off buying it and point them in a direction of another well known brand

As far as I can tell Interval run is something of a misnomer. It isn't intervals in the true sense ie. 10 min run and a one minute walk, it simply keeps track of a predetermined time or distance and notifies you when your reach said time/distance as required. For example the Surge will notify you every km while on a run or every 5 minutes depending on what interval you choose. They call it "Run Cues" in the manual.

Some kind of interval feature would be great. I would really like my CHR to record sub 5min workouts. I do breath work and would like to record duration of each exercise that's around 1-2min and see my pulse associated with it.

If keeping a minimum threshold for workout times is in place to avoid the noise of accidental workouts, can you make it user configurable please?

This is one of the main reasons I upgraded to the Charge HR, and there's no docs related to minimum workout time.

It would be so great to add an interval timer for HIIT and the like to the FitBit Blaze. And I can't imagine it would be terribly difficult to build and add with a softwayre update.

Sorry, but I don't even have the option for 'Interval Run' on my Surge so I'm not buying that argument. I do have run cues but it is set via the app and then synced to my device. Even if they came out with a newer revision of the Surge with this screen, it is still deceptive imo as most people will think the Surge supports intervals from the pics until after they buy the product and find out otherwise.

+1 for Blaze to have timed repeats

single repeats (i.e. 60 second repeat) for simple timed intervals

double repeats for Tabata rounds (20 seconds of activity, 10 second rest) for 8 intervals total

i agree with psychonscious it is misleading

I see they have added atleast for my FitBit Surge the ability for run cues.  However it would be nice to set the time interval to Run 3 min 30 sec Jog 1 Min 30 seconds.  Maybe have different vibrations that it uses to let you know which side you are on.

The other issue with this is that honestly I am a walker my wife and I still trying to build up to 5k active steps and it would be nice to have the same feature ported over to walking.  The walking is not nearly as robust as the running features but it would be nice to be able to see and get the same stats.

The surge should implement interval training. I should be able to design workouts and upload them to the watch.

Most definitely need to have a repeat countdown and interval timer on the blaze. I thought I could throw my phone out the way in the gym doing my session but I will have to keep the timer countdown on to tell me when to stop and start now. £150+ and not included but free on an app for a phone. Hmmmmm!?!?

I was just thinking the same thing!

Please add a HIIT timer.

yes let me add my voice...

even my old timex ironman had an interval timer..   which mean i have to wear my surge on one arm and my ironman on the other...  while its super fashion its kinda dorky outside of my running club..

of course if you set your intervals in the program, you'd have to turn off the vib for every kilometer you pass and all the other motivators, but this shouldnt be insurmountable, if you offer a toggle like you have for your silent alarms that when on you get a page for programming intervals desired and an announce that by setting intervals the perset flashes / vibes at every K or mile or vibes for notifications about pace will be stopped...

please please please mr moderator pass this idea up sooner than later

thanks

Interval training in rounds is one of my favorite ways to work out. Example: 3 mins of high intensity and 1 min rest and repeat for 15 rounds. It would be nice to have something like that to set up on the Surge and or any other fitbit tracker.

A HIIT timer on the Surge would marvelous.

I would love for this feature to be added to the Blaze. The fact that it does not do run:walk interval alerts is the sole reason I have not yet bought the Blaze and ditched my Garmin all together. Once the Blaze has the feature of either vibratory or auditory run:walk interval alerts (such as a 5 minute run, 1 min 15 sec walk I will go out and buy thr blaze and ditch my Garmin for good. For now I will continue to use my Garmin Vivofit and Atla. Thanks for considering adding this highly requested feature!
