Add Interval Training Timer (HIIT) That Buzzes at a Certain Pace

Hello,
I'm excited about the new products. I am a run/walker, and in training for my recent marathon, a friend had a garmin watch that vibrated at certain intervals. (Ex: if I wanted to have a pace of 3min run/1min walk it would vibrate at those intervals to keep me on track).

I am doing regular intervall trainings using my 30 floor residential tower. It's important for me to.see my time.per set and the heart rate recovery. I am currently using walking or running and stop the time manuall. There is no way for a full session, setting marks after each set. I would live to see an option for staircases, or at least an intervall training where I can mark the intervalls and continue tracking the recovery.

The addition of an interval timwerbwould be a huge improvement since so many training programs use it.  I would like to add another wrinkle.  I would like to combine distance and time intervals.  For example, run 100 yards or 500 meters (as tracked by GPS or as estimated by stride) followed by walk 3 minutes.  Also, if no one has asked, warm up and cool down times would be good to have as well.

Best idea yet!

Yes! and it would be great to have customizable warm up and cool down timers too! even better? Have the ability to build your own intervals with wherever times you want for each element... have maybe 6 elements : warm up, walk, jog, run, sprint, cool down... each of these with a time you can set and order them wherever way you want. Ie... warm up, jog, run, walk, run, sprint, walk, jog, run, cool down etc.  Could have detailed editing on fitbit website, time adjustments and syncing through app.  Please improve! Love what you've done so far... has so much potential to grow!

I train with a team and our coach send us this kind of routines:

15 minutes warm up (zone 2)
10 x 400 x 200 (Run ten times 400 meters -hard- and recovery 200 meters -easy run not walking)
Cooldown for 5-10 minutes

How can I program my new Ionic to do this kind of training?
In the past I used to use a Garmin 630 and it was somehow easy.

For me it does not necessary need to be programmed. But I would like to:

1) Start a training session (a simple free training, if staircase running is too exotic)

2) Mark "warm up finished" (the warm up might take me longer than expected or I am warm already)

3) Mark "my interval time" (manual start and stop, for example 400 m sprint as a timed interval. After that I slow down until I feel recovered and start the next set. It does not need to be programmed, as in 2 minutes recovery)

It really needs the ability to create your own workouts with either reps or secods for HIIT workouts.  Also you really should dd a wight lifting wprkout tracking app like GymBuddy.

Take a look at the apps Seconds and GymBuddy.

I'm not sure why, maybe it's just my preferences, but I can't find one Fitbit that checks all the boxes. I bought a Blaze and I really like it (a bit large for me but that's mostly OK) but I have to return it. The two things I really need are a timer and an interval timer. High Intensity Interval Training has become very popular in the past few years (with good reason). I have been using an app on my mobile as a timer and it has all the functions I need: warm up period, working period, rest period, and number of rounds. You can adjust it for Tabata or any HIIT workout you want. Sure it's a pain to keep the mobile with me but it's all I had. Having this function on the Blaze would make my decision to keep it an easy one. Since I don't need all the functionality of the Ionic but need the regular timer (which the Charge 2 doesn't have) I can't find one Fitbit that fits all my needs. I can't believe the Blaze has been out for 2 years and still no interval timer, even though it's available on other Fitbit devices. Fix this and I'll come back.

This was something the Surge had under Lap run functionality which, I believe, the las update let's you check out each manually inputed lap. Bring it back please! I loved how the Surge had all the running trainings, interval training is a fundamental for running training

Hi,

I have had my ionic for 3 weeks and love ALMOST everything about it; however, I plan on returning it this week.

As runner who uses the run/walk method to do marathons and half-marathons, I need to have the option to have a run/walk timer while in the Run Mode so that I can see all of the applicable stats for running (mile splits, distance, elevation, route, HR, average pace, current pace, etc.).  Currently, when I am doing my long runs and need intervals I have to bring two watches or sacrifice the stats by using the Interval Mode on the Ionic and trying to rely on a separate app on my phone to capture the data. Neither option is ideal or acceptable when I am training or racing and almost every other fitness watch has this basic feature.

Please considering adding this ASAP.  I am happy to switch back to the IONIC if this is added. I really love the daily features and ease of accessing them.  Until then I will go with a Garmin.

Hi,

I have the exact same problem.
I need a place where I can see my pace during interval run. This is a basic matter for any serious runner. Please add this feature reallt quickly !

Thanks

Frank

I second, this is a must. Also, if we can have the same informations when you use the "running activities" in the interval mode.

For example, should be really great to know your pace when doing interval.

This little feature will propulse the Ionic to a great running watch !

Please can you consider adding a setting that will do a  vibration alert for every 0.1 mile for my interval running outside or on a treadmill? It will save me keep looking at the fitbit while running!

I love the fact that there is an interval timer on the ionic, however, if you could base it off things other than time, it would be super helpful. For instance, if I could set the workout part to 1000m and the rest part to 45 seconds, that would be super awesome. You could also do heart rate, allowing the user to set workout and rest parts independently of each other.

Are there any plans for an update to add Interval Training option to the Fitbit Blaze under Exercise Shortcuts? I see in the forums in past years there have been comments about this. Is this in the works for the Blaze?

I just purchased the Blaze and was told it does do Interval Training, but now see that it does not. I have also done a live chat with a Fitbit rep and there does not seem to be a work around for this option that is lacking. I like the Blaze but the Interval Training option is important to me. If it is not something that will be added via an update to the Blaze, then it looks like I will be returning it.

I love the interval timer, but it would be great to be able to track intervals by distance rather than a set time. If I'm going to run mile repeats on the track for example, it would be awesome to set the timer to stop after reaching 1600 meters and then be set to have a rest timer for 1 minute, and then be able to set it to stop after I finished a set number of repeats.

There is currently no HIIT option to input on the exercise tracker - like Metafit, for example.  Please can this be added?!

Hi, set running cues to manual, however you have to remember your training to manually set each of the training phases

Is there a third party apps doing it ?

I also need to know my pace.

You can customize the display, I myself have it customized to have my pace on the lower end, lap dist. On the top end and the center can scroll from elapsed time, lap time and heart rate. Just customize it with the cog icon on the top left before selecting a run.
