Add Lloyds bank to UK Fitbit pay

More bank compatibility for uk Fitbit pay versa users. So far Fitbit pay is not connected to any major banks in the UK. The very few that fit bit pay is connected to I’ve never even heard of. So as a UK versa owner I have the special edition and can’t use the very feature that separates it from the the normal versa.

is Fitbit pay going to compatible with the major banks in the UK like Barclays, Lloyds, Santander, HSBC, NatWest, TSB, Metro Bank, Halifax, Royal Bank of Scotland etc and also I haven’t seen any where (shops) that accepts Fitbit pay yet.

No blame on Google, they're the ones that can make it better by adding Google pay.

For those wanting a work around, I can confirm that martinclode's post (re the Revolut app) above does work (at least for me anyway).

Kudos to Martin for a useable solution to those that have already committed to Fitbit pay.

Curve works well and uses your existing cards, it just acts as a middle man
to get them to work with Fitbit Pay. Appalling that a workaround is needed
though,

I use Starling due to Fitbit's refusal to add mainstream UK banks! Hopefully when the deal is properly done with Google, maybe we'll at least have a Gpay option!

I can see comments have been made since 2017 and not one of the UK major banks that have been asked for has been added to the list, that’s quite some time people have been asking for banks to be added and nothing seems to have been done but  Fitbit still advertise you can use major UK banks. The banks I use are Amex, Bank of Scotland and Halifax which I see have been asked for before for quite a while now. I have been a fan of Fitbit for many years after having a  charge 2 and 3 very disappointed with advertising for charge 4 Because one of the reasons I bought it was for the contactless payment

I think it's disgusting Google or Fitbit just don't want to know the only thing I begrude is buying a Fitbit all together.

I am a UK Fitbit user and there are very few banks that are compatible with Fitbit pay. I have almost no options for the majority of large banks such as TSB, Llyods, Barclays, Halifax, Natwest.

Forget Fitbit even looking at your request.  Many customers have been asking for UK major banks to be added since at least 2017 and continue to be ignored and now they even have the nerve to advertise fitbit pay on the new Charge 4 knowing it doesn't work in UK.

I would love it if the range of British Banks was extended.
My Main bank is Lloyds and this is not a bank supported by the fitbit app.

Hi @Patricia.W, thanks for explaining why you would like to have the option to see Lloyds bank (UK) on Fitbit Pay. I've moved it into a similar suggestion which has been updated as "Under Consideration". You can learn more about it here. I hope to see you around.

Waste of time. The message gets moved but nothing is ever done. Fitbit have been playing the same game for a number of years exactly the same a the standard excuses they give when contacting via social media platforms.
Fitbit do not give a monkeys uncle about customers concerns regarding fitbit pay being a viable option for major UK banks.
Don't hold your breath about anything happening it all falls on deaf ears.

I guess we should be grateful!

I think Fitbit are doing their best to get top dollar for their company in the sell out to Google - understandable really. It is a buyers market for smart/tracker watches and today I read about a proposed newer and better watch from a Hong Kong manufacturer (provisionally) due on the market at the start of October. It will meet all of my requirements by the sound of it and will support many banks worldwide off the bat via Google Pay.

If Fitbit wants any chance of getting my business, they need to have something suitable ready by then - simple. We can't force Fitbit to change their policy but if they want our money and business, they have to come up with the goods to tempt us. For those who've already bought NFC Fitbit devices and feel they've been mis-sold because its not made clear enough that only a tiny percent of major UK banks are supported, as no commitment to address this issue has been made by Fitbit, let your money do the talking and go for a refund. Its always worth doing your homework to research a product carefully before buying.

It's 2020 and I've never heard of most of the banks available for fitpay in the UK, why are there so few big name high Street brands available. Barclays, nationwide, HSBC, tsb, coop, llyods?

Why can't we connect even to PayPal?

Even big US banks like MBNA aren't available in the UK. Fitpay is no use to 99% of fitbit customers in the UK.

The year 2020 where everything is contactless and Fitbit provide a handful of mostly unknown banks which users can pay with in the UK? Post created in 2018, updated in 2019 to 'focus on Lloyds' and still no major UK banks added, including Lloyds. Clearly they aren't listening to customer feedback, or they just don't care.

Hi @lexi83, thanks for explaining why you would like to have the option to see adding HSBC bank to UK Fitbit pay. I've moved it into a similar suggestion which has been updated as "Under Consideration". I hope to see you around.

  • I’m really disappointed in Fitbit pay. Just  purchased a Versa 2 which arrived today and trying to setup my Fitbit pay to find out that it doesn’t accept Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) in the UK. I’ve been directed to this thread/ forum by live chat Fitbit staff. I’m seriously contemplating a refund and joining another company that provides what I’m looking for such as Apple. I may have to pay more for more features but can’t help think I’ve been entirely let down by Fitbit. The front of the box does mention there features one of them being Fitbit pay but doesn’t say in any small print “your bank may not be accepted” something like this would help but as others have said it’s false advertisement. I’m will give it a day for any Fitbit staff to respond if not I’ll be requesting a full refund.

HI @OFM

we've been waiting years I don't expect there to be an update anytime soon.  If you can't live without it either take it back or alternatively try opening a free account with Starling Bank.  I originally did this just so I could use my watch when I was out on a run (without my phone) but Starling is so good I ended up moving completely over to them (and it was from RBS).  It's free to open the account and is all done in the app fyi.

Hope the info helps 🙂

Hi @RobIgoUK

Thanks for the suggestion but it’s a big ask to move my bank account over just for a fitbit watch. Fitbit need to start getting with the times or else they will keep losing customers. I’m in utter shock how old this original post is and how very little has been done. It just reveals a companies true intention that all they are interested in is getting the money first and customer service, satisfaction is last or just not a priority at all. Thanks but looks like I’ll be requesting a refund as I’ve paid good money for what was originally advertised and it’s just false. If anything it’s the principle of the matter. They advertised falsely, got my money and refuse to correct a mistake it’s inevitable to lead to a refund and seek elsewhere.

Happy it’s worked out for you though and may it long continue. 👍

Hi @OFM

it's not actually false, fitbit pay does work it just doesn't say which banks it works with - though I'm sure you'll get your money back.

As I mentioned you could open an account (it takes minutes) with Starling and just use that as your watch fund (which is how I originally used the account).

Good luck either way and best wishes.

P.s. I think it will change to Google Pay once the buy out of fitbit is complete (probably early next year)

One of the main reasons why I updated my fitbit charge 2 (along side the multiple cracks in the screen) was to use fitbit pay. I’m very disappointed to see that, like many people before me, none of the main UK banks are actually supported.
