I really wish that there would be a ski tracking workout mode on fitbit blazes. I am a big skier and I have to track it as a run to track the most info. Not to mention laps. But it would be very nice if I could call it skiing and not running.
I used it snowboarding for the first time this weekend, it tracks things really well. Seems such an obvious tweak to add reporting facilities that are seen on apps like 'Ski Tracks' which is based on GPS data.
Please add skiing as an option downhill and cross country. So many people take part in this activity it would be a great addition to the charge 2. Thank you
Yeah, I guess it is better than nothing. I am not that dialed in yet. As in, I am using in a general sense for tracking info and not adhering to some rigid guidelines. If I get to a point that I really want more exact info I will go with something that best fits my needs be it FB or other.
Please add cross country sking. I do the Nordic Track and it didn't even register as active mintues even though heart rate was above 100. Yet the Fitbit registered 13 minutes when all I was doing was walking around the house and HR was only in high 70's.
Please add Nordic Skiing as an activity to track. I am disappointed that my Fitbit Charge2 doens't have that option. XC skiing is a high level activity! Extremely popular here in Colorado. Thanks
Not all of us are mainsteam wokout creatures... we need to get out in the backcountry and would really appreciate you all adding xcountry skiing, back country skiing and downhill/resort skiing ... so dissappointed. I have 30 days to return this and may have to do so bc no tracker for these activities... booooo!!
Would like Nordic and snowshoeing added to the tracking feature. Using walking as a workaround...which makes me look like a rabbit when skiing and a tortoise when snowshoeing.
I asked for skiing to be added as an activity earlier in thread - but now I've had a week on the slopes - I was doing about 25 miles/ 40km a day according to ski tracks app, expending large amounts of effort - and even though my pulse was generally between 70&120 (48 resting) and clocked up between 4 & 8hr in fat burn range, but the fitbit surge hardly noticed any minutes (between 55&202 )of activilty except the apres-ski dancing (that was the 202;))!.
I also would like to see cross-country skiing added as an exercise shortcut. Also could you consider adding snowshoeing? I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Fitbit, but adding these shortcuts would make me love it more!! Thank you for your consideration regarding this matter!!
I have used SkiTracks for many years, and love it. I am a new Surge ownder, and I hoped it would link to my FitBit, but I can't find any. It apparently links to Apple Watch and Pebble and the Magellan Echo, so why not FitBit too?
I had thought SkiTracks might have been able to make use of the Fitbit GPS (and hence save my phone battery) but this isn't currently supported. Alternatively, I would think there would be a way to import the GPS data (e.g. from a recorded Fitbit GPS "bike" run for the day) into SkiTracks to recreate the day's activity there.
I'm going to keep using SkiTracks but hope that some form of ski-run linking is added to the Surge!
I have belonged to more than one User Group. The users put together a list they would like to see in order of importance. The company then decides which ones they will work on for the next release.
This continues for each version of the software. It would be nice if Fitbit let use know if this will be included in a version coming up. I realize that they do not want the competitors know what will be included, but some indication that they are working the request would be nice.
Apps have changed the software process and there may be limitations to what the watch can handle may be the issue, but if I can track my skiing with Ski Tracks, then download the results into my Fitbit data, it should be doable. It is a matter of data points and links. Either letting Ski Tracks push the connection to Fitbit or allowing Fitbit to extract the data. Since other products are allowing it, Ski Tracks does not appear to be the side stopping this link. Having stated this comment, DirecTV does not have the PAC-12 channel, while other distributors do, so it could be management on either side (such as with DirecTV).
I think Fitbit are missing a trick. The sooner skiing is added the better. This is the first and only disappointment I have but until it's available I'll be looking for alternatives.
That's why I bought a Garmin... tired of waiting. Most or all of the Garmin trackers have an explicit ski/boarding and XC activity. I'm starting to wonder if Garmin has a patent on it or something - it has to be very easy to program.
Completely agree...definitely need to add nordic skiing for those of us in northern climates. Skate and classic options would be greatly appreciated with sync to Sstrava
