I recently bought a Versa 3 as my first smart watch. I was excited to use the wallet application for the first time, but soon learned that it does not support TD Canada cards. I admit that I probably should have done more research, but seeing how a lot of people are moving to the virtual wallet I didn't think that there would be a problem like this. I went on here to find out more information as to when I may be able to use my cards, but seeing that people have wanted this for years and nothing has been done, I have doubts that anything may change. I also cant return the watch. Please care about your customers here in Canada and all those who bank with other banks.
If Fitbit could add TD Canada Trust bank as an accepted Fitbit pay method I would be very happy because I have been a Fitbit customer for 3 years now and I have yet to see Fitbit add TD Canada Trust as an accept bank account.
Hello @SunsetRunner, thanks for sharing your idea about the possibility of adding TD Canada Trust bank as an accepted Fitbit Pay method. I noticed that a similar suggestions has already been posted, so I’ve moved your posthere, this helps to keep the boards more organized.
Make sure to add your vote as well to support this suggestion, this helps the team of developers to keep track of popularity and demand over time.
Thank you again for your participation in the Community.
I have a Fitbit and was so excited to use it to pay for things so I didn't have to worry about having my card on me all the time. I'm with TD and I wish this was a feature we could have!
Just adding my 2 bits here.... Can't believe the lack of support for Canadian banks in general. I do all my banking with TD Canada Trust and would greatly appreciate support.
I have talked to the banks. From the banks side it is said that the security required to use the fit bit app is not up to their standards, fit bit refuses to do anything to make their App more secure so it meets the security requirements of the banks. Therefore the burden is with fit bit. Fit bit couldn’t care less about adding TD, as they are not losing revenue. All of these suggestions and platitudes from fit bit moderators is insulting and infuriating. Our family has moved away from fit bit to APPLE watch as they are MUCH more functional and don’t dangle carrots infront off their users while laughing at them behind their backs, repeating the same rhetoric mindlessly to their patrons.
Apple Watch does everything us Canadians want and more. Yes it’s more expensive, but it’s a much, much better product. just keep the hope alive suckers, Fit but doesn’t give a hoot about your requests unless they can make money off them.
It’s been 3 years that I first posted this. I have dozen and dozens of responses asking for banks to be added ( and the Fitbit community moderators see these responses) …
He originally bought me an Apple Watch after I complained about the lack of payment options (on my Fitbit Versa)
My husband bought me a Fitbit charge 5 for Christmas this year(after my years of being irritated with the Apple Watch not tracking my activity properly).
The charge 5 STILL is not compatible with most Canadian banks… so now I wear 2 watches.
The Apple Watch that keeps me connected to every part of my life and the Fitbit that is useless, other than physical metrics.
We've been asking them to do,this for at least 5 years. They always reply with the same excuses. 'We'll pass it to tech for consideration.' They never deal, with it and have no intention of doing anything about it. Other producers can put your whole desktop pc on your smart watch, Fitbit can't even put an app on theirs. Every Charge model, Ive had has been a warranty replacement based off,a lousy 25% discount. Last one I'll,ever use. I can buy a $5 Chinese watch that'll tell the time and last longer than my fitbit.
Please add TD Canada Trust to the compatable banks with Fitbit! It's one of the main reasons I upgraded from my charge 2 to the charge 5, to have the wallet function. It wasn't until after I purchased it that I realized I couldn't add my bank cards. Thanks!
I also commented on this thread a year ago. The best answer I’ve seen is that basically TD requires certain level of security. There are security measures that TD requires before they would approve a partnership with Fitbit and Fitbit is basically unwilling to upgrade their product to satisfy the banks security requirements.
Five years later and still no TD Canada Trust support? When are you going to either add Google Pay or include one of the most popular banks in Canada in Fitbit Pay?
We spoke to a TD rep in cyber security department and they said that TD requires certain security standards to be met before they can approve. Fitbit refuses to do the work to satisfy the banks security requirements. 😩 so it’s in a stall.
I, along with many others, would like Fitbit Wallet to support TD Canada Trust as a bank for us to be able to use with our fitbits. It is a very common bank in Ontario/Canada and alot of people use it. I would also like it to support debit cards if it can't already. Why should a device have this feature when it can only be used by a few people?
Hi @acbaxter03, thanks for taking the time to share this suggestion about adding TD Canada Trust bank to the Fitbit Pay supported banks list with us. Because a similar idea was already requested in the Feature Suggestion board, I’ve moved your post here. Please support this idea by adding your vote, this helps our developers to keep tracking its popularity and demand over time.
So Fitbit is not willing or is TD doesn't think Fitbit secure enough?
Does seem to be a long time to have this solved since 2018 or even 2015 as someone stated.
Seems odd as other banks are OK with Fitbit Pay. ATB Financial, Brim Financial, Manulife Bank of Canada, RBC Royal Bank, Stack Canada Financial, US Bank Canada. All use it.
That’s awesome, is your Friend a teller? You have read that this “concept“ is now ”under consideration“ by FitBit right? Which would seem to indicate that the onus is on Fitbit to get their sh@t together and listen to their customers.
We have been waiting for over seven years! i follow this now out of morbid curiosity, just to see how long Fitbit will string their customers along, “my friend says……” uh huh.
My friend is in cyber security. It is my understanding that Fitbit hasn’t met their security standards and TD is waiting on that. I don’t know if Fitbit actually plans to upgrade their devices to meet the standards or if it’s even possible with older devices? That’s just what I was told. 🤷🏼:female_sign: I don’t know any particulars about the security standards and what needs to be done.
