Add back "Sync Now" to the Dashboard

recent updates have removed choice to auto or manual auto sync tracker with phone app. causing battery to drain faster. would love the tab put back and give us a choice to sync manually again and save battery for both tracker and phone

  • Yes the manual sync option needs to new brought back immediately!!! I inquired and got told to turn off my Bluetooth! Hello!!! We live in a world of technology, my phone is synced to a thermometer which I use daily to track fertility and my car! I'd be turning the Bluetooth on and off all day which is super inconvenient when you would just being back the ability to turn off all day sync through the app.

The manual sync option has not been removed. Like most other apps, dragging the dashboard down will initiate a sync.

Or under the tracker settings you will find the sync now.

 

Mentioning battery life sounds more like you are upset that the ability to disable all day sync has been removed.

I've had my Fitbit Versa for around two years now. It's been going strong, lasting around 4/5 days without continuous syncing. Based on research conducted, it has enough memory to store roughly a months worth of data before syncing. 

 

Recently, like the OP, the Fitbit App has forced continuous sync by default with no way to control when it syncs (can still do manual syncs or course). This has caused the battery to tank from 4/5 days to 1/2 days. I found this to be too bothersome so I stopped using my Versa. 

 

The App needs a way of being able to set when the App syncs in my opinion. Such as every evening or X interval. When you can manually sync whenever you want, I don't personally see the need for continuous syncing.

Try keeping Bluetooth off and see if the battery improves. 

Your tracker doesn't continuously syncs, but syncs only a few times an hour at best.

Or just bribg back the option to turn off continuous sync. Again, noone wants to keep their Bluetooth off! It syncs to other things other than fitbit!

I wasn't saying to keep Bluetooth off, I said to turn it off and you will notice that tge auto sync that occaisionly happens will barely affect the battery life. 

 

Fitbit has never had a continuous sync mode. If it did the tracker would need to be charged once a day. Your trackers Bluetooth most of the time isn't even connected to your phone.

I really do not understand this request. 

To sync your email, place finger on screen and pull down. 

To refresh a web page, hold finger on display and pull down. 

To refresh Facebook hold finger in display and pull down 

To refresh Twitter hikes finger on the screen and pull down 

 

To sync(refresh) Fitbit hold finger in screen and pull down. 

Fitbit simply made the app work like the norm. 

However we can tap sync now.

You clearly don't understand. That's not what I'm saying. Fitbits default is to sync randomly throughout the day and you used to be able to shut that feature off so you didn't drain the battery of your phone and your fitbit. Now you can't.

@Ashleyn2005 the request to turn off all day sync is unrelated to having a Sync Now button. That is why I didn't address your comment. 

I would suggest adding your vote to the All Day Sync Option.

The sync now was never removed from the fitbit app. 

This feature now works like many of the other apps (the web browser, Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, Enable, text) on your phone. When the Fitbit app is opened, or brought to the front, a sync is initiated. 

Or holding the finger on the phone, and pulling down (like your emal, Facebook, etc) will initiate a sync.
