Add lifetime steps and distance to the Fitbit app

I always look at my lifetime steps. At one time I thought of switching to another device. But I would have to start over with lifetime steps where I went.

It might not get as many votes as some other items, but it was the first thing that I viewed every week.  If it is not included in the app, the Charge 6 will be my last purchase.  I have been with FitBit since the Charge 2 in 2015. Brand loyalty should account for something. My experience with  computer program indicates that it would not be too difficult to include this in the app.

I look at my lifetime steps all the time. I've got a Google Pixel Watch 3 ordered and the biggest reason I chose it over others is because my Fitbit stats would carry over. Now it seems like that's not happening so I'm going to cancel it. That's what big companies do, they buy companies, strip out what they want, then shut them down. I think Samsung or Apple is calling me.

Lifetime steps and distance are still reported on your profile page. Click on your profile picture or avatar at the top right of the fitbit.com page. Included are lifetime distance, steps, and floors as well as best achievement stats and badges.

This was one of the greatest features of Fitbit.

I am now considering switching to an Apple Watch.

Thanks!!

The web dashboard had lifetime stats.  Now that it is gone, we have no way to see our lifetime stats.

This needs to be on the app.

Now that the online dashboard has completely disappeared (as of a few weeks ago) there is no place to view lifetime data (step counts, etc). I was tracking that religiously for a while as I aimed for the Pole to Pole Badge, which looks at lifetime steps. (Side note, why is the Pole to Pole the last lifetime steps badge?)

I've poked around the app to no avail, and a Google search doesn't give me any answers yet. How can they remove the data from the web without setting it up in the app first?!

I was directed to this thread after I started my own in the Fitbit Premium threads.  I am devastated that after almost 11 years and countless Fitbit devices, I have zero way to track my cumulative distance and steps.  As I approach my later years, I have a goal of reaching the 24,901 miles that comprise the distance around the world and I believe that I have the ability to do so in the next 6 years or so.  Or I DID, but I haven't been able to see where I stand since FITBIT discontinued the dashboard and the cumulative data visualizations.  I have voted to BEG Fitbit/Google to restore the cumulative distance and steps for its members at the top of this thread and I am so hopeful that they will.  Fitbit does indicate that data downloads are available, but I have zero idea what to do with dozens of files with no explanation whatsoever, and there appears to be no app or site that offers further information or the ability to import that data. Ten plus years and I am left with nothing for all my efforts.  Sigh... Please, do something for your loyal members?

I can't understand why the Lifetime data has been removed. This is the only way to monitor progress towards the badges, and plan regular goals. The removal of this data has very much diminished the Fitbit experience.

Since you are not going to fix what remained of the dashboard, please give us a way to see our lifetime steps, and miles.    Since it was available on the dashboard,  it should be available in the app.  Please, please, pretty please.

Google removed access to out lifetime steps, distance, and floor counts when it deactivated the web dashboard.  These are important metrics and need to be on the app.

I've had my Fitbit since 18 May 2012. Where are my lifetime steps?  This is so disappointing. The old dashboard is gone. The app is rubbish. My Fitbit no longer connects with any of my virtual walking sites and no, I don't want Fitbit Premium.

I have had numerous Fitbits for 15 years. My steps up to 18 May 2024 are 37,729.63 miles. How do I find how many miles I did in the last year? This is so upsetting.

I contacted Fitbit support this week asking about access to my Fitbit profile page on the web. I was told that it was a temporary problem and would be fixed shortly. I waited three days before contacting support again, and was told this time that the 'feature' is no longer available, and that this is to improve my experience with Fitbit. It has done quite the opposite.

Per my conversation with Fitbit support, to see lifetime steps, all I have to do is go to the mobile app, tap my step widget, switch the view to "year", and then open each year's steps, and add them up myself (user since 2013). In all those years and many devices before, all I had to do was open my profile page and see my lifetime stats. There I could see lifetime steps, distance, and floors.

We all have already lost functionality as more and more features disappear from the web. Google please, please either bring back the profile page on the web, or add the lifetime stats to the mobile app!!!!  I agree with all of the posts from the last month, we need Google to hear us and give a little.

Did not work for me. When I clicked the previous year, the little gear
goes round and round and nothing happens.

It was mentioned to click on years and add the totals to get lifetime steps.  Well that is not possible with my One.  You see, I do not have any history that I can see.  I have nothing showing since August of 2024.  I can sync everyday and only see the daily total.  I can't even see  the steps for yesterday.  I have no weekly totals, monthly totals, or yearly totals.  I do get a weekly e-mail showing my steps for the prior week.  So, it makes no sense that I can't see any history.  The data is getting to Fitbit, but I guess it just disappears into thin air.  I did a chat a few days ago, and the person was surprised that my One still works.  I told him that it works just fine and that I really like it.  He said he would pass along my request for lifetime steps and the problem with history.  I am not holding my breath.

@peppygirl It's funny you mention still being able to use your One; I had to replace mine because the app kept losing steps that were logged. When I switched to a new device, the problems went away. Maybe that is why support was surprised it still works.

CameraSue,  Just curious, when you switched from your One to another device, can you see your history now?  If so, how far back does it go?  I have had a fitbit since 2012, starting with a Fitbit Ultra and now my One.

CameraSue

@peppygirl Good question. I have been a Fitbit user since 2013, I started with the Zip, then only used the One until I switched it out for an Inspire in October 2024. My data started messing up in October, and those dates are still missing from my history; the data appears to be lost forever, or hidden somewhere else (one reason why I want the web dashboard back, because the data was there).

Anyway, after switching to the Inspire, the new data that was uploaded each day remained. But, as far as I remember, my history back to 2013 was never lost, so I do not know if you get another device you will get your history back. Sorry for the long answer, I'm not sure it helped either.

So apparently the web dashboard is gone? Just migrated my FB account to Google, and now no more web dashboard and when I click on my user icon I see: "Oops! Something's not right...We're experiencing an internal server problem. Please try again later or contact support..."

Someone posted elsewhere that FB Customer Support told them these features are now discontinued. Bad move, if true.

CameraSue     How much history are you missing?  Just some data from October 2024 or more than that?  I was hoping that if I switch to another device my history would magically re-appear.  Thank you for your input.

CameraSue
Recovery Runner

@peppygirl  The only history I am missing in the mobile app are the dates in October 2024 that the app failed to display any of my steps.

On a side note, I also requested a download from Google Takeout to get all of my Fitbit data, and the October 2024 data is missing from there as well. The rest of my history back to 2013 is all there.

Just had another thought.  Maybe Fitbit can include the lifetime steps, miles, and floors in the weekly e-mail they send.  Since they do not want to bring back the dashboard, this could work.  Anybody have any other ideas?.
