Add more swimming stats (lap times, elapsed time, distance or length) on screen

Upgraded from Ionic to Versa 2. Very disappointed with Swim tracking. Versa 2 lost the ability to keep track of elapsed laps. I have to count manually and that defeats the purpose of a fitness tracker. I was told this is working as designed. I will be returning the Versa 2 to Fitbit until this functionality is added. Going back to Ionic. Need the ability to customize Swim stats by:
- Completed Laps
- Elapsed Time
- Heart Rate   (vote here!)

I would love to have heart rate, time and laps for swimming. This is vital for swimming in my development. Its a huge oversight from your design team given your products claims as a fitness tracker.

When are we going to get an update on this?

Please include the same basic level of stats to the swimming exercise as is included in others (e.g., running, walking, etc.).

Please include:
1) heart rate over time plot
2) lap/split times

Hi @brandonholt, thanks for sharing this suggestion about having more stats displayed on your Fitbit device while swimming with us. This idea was already requested in the Feature Suggestions board, so I’ve moved your post here. And individual splits for each lap!

I got the new versa 3 for the precise reason of counting swimming laps in real time. Might just have stayed with my last Fitbit as I still have to look on my phone to see distance and laps. Really disappointed.

At the very least you should be able to see the lap/lengths count on your wrist during the swim. It is genuinely mind boggling to me that this isn't possible, that's like main reason to have a fitness tracker for swimming. All the other data is interesting, and I like reviewing it after my swim, but while I'm swimming all I really want to know is the lap count. Ideally I'd like to be able to set a lap goal, so the Fitbit could tell me when I've hit the number I want to do - but bare minimum for swimming is a lap count.

Yes crazy they still haven’t done an update the Fitbit sense has it but
doesn’t always record stroke properly.

Please can you put the lap/length counts back on the new Versa watches. Gutted when I bought the Versa 2 only to find the lap counting while swimming had been removed. I hear Versa 3 is also the same. I will be returning the Versa 2

I think I first posted this about 2 years ago a and we have not heard what Fitbit is thinking about this. Not a peep! Can we get some sort of indication what is planned?

Its great that you categorise suggestions – but that seems to be as far as it gets. Not date yet for implementing this or open water swimming support – would prefer this to simply filing suggestions ?

No plan at all as far as I know .

As a fitness tracker first rather than a fully fledged smart I'm very disappointed with swim features.

This is my last fitbit for sure.

I got the versa3 for Christmas so that I could see how many laps I’d done swimming. Discovered that that feature had been removed. Should have stuck to my Fitbit 3 as it does almost the same thing.

See what happens when a company gets bought out by a monster org like Google....rubbish. They are going to loose so many customers and then try to get them back. Terrible business approach...get your crap sorted out and listen to your customers!!

This has nothing to do with the Google acquisition.

The problem here is hardware: differently than the original Versa and Ionic Versa 2 (and 3) lacks gyroscope that is fundamental to detect turns in real time. Hence even if there was a firmware update for the purpose it would be useless.

Now, why Versa 2 (and 3) has such regression compared to the original? This is the right question and this is what mods should clarify rather than  give only false hopes.

The swimming "tracking" function has always just been a marketing flag checked for FitBit, it seems. It was never useful on the Ionic, showing only some imaginary calories burned after the swim instead of useful metrics such as time per laps, and now it seems they've managed to scale it down from there? Don't buy a FitBit to track swimming.

Just don't buy Fitbit anymore. Period. They really started to regress around ~2017. My biggest disappointment was 'upgrading' from the Charge 2 to the Charge 3 - literally felt like I downgraded - and it has been downhill ever since (I'm now on Versa 2 and the issues it has ... never again).

Right now, during a swim, my versa 3 shows how much time has elapsed, but showing how many laps swam instead would be much more useful.

Hi @JeffersW, thanks for explaining why you would like to have the option to add more swimming stats (lap times, elapsed time, distance or length) on screen. I've moved it into a similar request. I think that a lot of users would like to have this option on their Fitbit devices. You can learn more about how Fitbit decides what suggestions get released in our FAQs.

Thank you again for your participation in the Feature Suggestions Forums.

I face the same issue as many others here. I was previously using the Ionic, so not having swim stats like laps, calories etc on the Versa 2 has proven to be a downgrade from the Ionic. Unfortunately, I will be returning my Versa 2 as well unless Fitbit accepts our suggestion. Goodbye Versa 2.

Having seen that this basic, common-sense, easy fix idea has not been acted on in two years, I will be returning my fitbit charge 4. I got it specifically for swim tracking and it lacks even the most basic functionality. Looks pretty clear fitbit have no plan to change this.

I agree with this! This is a big downside for me as I often have a length goal in mind where as can only ever see my session time on my fitbit luxe!

Been patiently waiting forever this change to the app. I can do nothing to change the derived calories/lap except improve lap times. No need for me to see calories. Please give me times. In addition to helping with training, it helps determine when the fitbit has missed the end of a lap, which it does frequently
