Add more swimming stats (lap times, elapsed time, distance or length) on screen

Upgraded from Ionic to Versa 2. Very disappointed with Swim tracking. Versa 2 lost the ability to keep track of elapsed laps. I have to count manually and that defeats the purpose of a fitness tracker. I was told this is working as designed. I will be returning the Versa 2 to Fitbit until this functionality is added. Going back to Ionic. Need the ability to customize Swim stats by:
- Completed Laps
- Elapsed Time
- Heart Rate   (vote here!)

I completely identify with this complaint. I had an old Versa which died on me. In the meantime I received a nice SUUNTO watch which I decided to relinquish after I realized it didn't  tally laps, and was giving me a GPS-derived swimming distance.  I assumed that the new Versa would necessarily include this previous feature, and I was amazed to discover it didn't have it. I normally swim between 3 and 5 km in a training session, and it pisses me to see that the distance covered was only 1.5 km. Not to mention that the calories burned, with the heart rate sensing disabled, are completely off the  mark.

Yes please try and rectify this ASAP. or else I will revert to the SUUNTO watch.

@Turgi my advice to you is to stop hoping. People have been asking for this feature since the release of Charge 4 and Versa 3 - and nothing. I sold my Charge 4 recently and bought Samsung Active 2. It does everything I need plus tracks heart rate while swimming.

😢😢
The truth is that I have this built-in lap counter in my brain, so it's
really seldom that I lose track of the number of laps, but it pisses me off
to see the numbers that show on the display. It really hurts my feelings
and my pride for training that hard and not getting credit for it.
On the other hand, I think the step counter is also completely wacky. I
log in days of 30,000 steps like nothing. The problem is that I don't think
I can return my watch here. It has a local distributor, and given the level
of service in this country, I really doubt it.

When my Surge's screen became unresponsive (after 5 years of usage), I choose to replace it with the Versa 3 and not another brand just because it had the promising feature of being a swimming watch. But today I was very disappointed that it cannot count laps in real-time. This is the very function I need, what the Versa 3 offers me now is nothing more than what the poolside clock or even my €70 polar can do. I hope this gets fixed in an update soon...

All I can say is that I completely identify with this. If you are in a civilized country, unlike me, with reasonable trading practices, I would suggest you no longer wait and return it. Someone commented about purchasing a Samsung watch that does the job. Good luck!

OMG!  What is the point of developing an exercise product if you have no idea how your customers use the product.  Where is the lap counter on Versa 3?  Swimmers need this.  I have the versa before and loved this feature.  So I bought a new versa when that one wore out.  Nope no lap counter.  Holy cow how can you miss the mark so badly.  Embarrassing that you did no data collection on how your end user uses your product.  I am getting an Apple Watch. Returning the versa 3 for sure.   Egg on your face.

I wish I could do like you. Does the Apple watch have this feature?

Wow, lots of comments! After being disappointed by my Fitbit I got an Apple Watch. I love it! Does everything I need it to do. Swimming miles each week 🏊‍:female_sign:🏊‍:female_sign:

I agree - I was excited to get in the pool with my new versa 2 only to be disappointed that I could not see my laps in real time.  Its no use when I'm out of the pool and having to sync my versa with my phone.

Bring back the real time lap counter please.

Oh no... I just purchased mine just few days ago as Fitbit advertised it as it tracks pool workouts! Fitbit please include the real time lap counter in the update. Everyone bought it for this feature.

If I am not mistaken you can see your lap count real time - press the button on the left and page though the different stats once you have started your swim. The feature that missing is the stats on the app once you have sync'd after you have completed your swim.

Who cares how many calories were burned on each lap? It would be more useful to see lap time; length time; total time; avg pace per lap; avg oace; laps; lengths etc. These are stats that you can see real time but you only glance at while swimming. At the end of training you can maybe see the first 10 laps. A brief summary on your watch but do not sync to app on versa 2 and 3 😞

This is a simple change on the app. If I am not mistaken these stats were available on app with versa 1.

People just sell your bands as I did since they don't care about their customers. This crucial feature was asked for since it's release and the have since only provide copy/paste answers.

dear YojanaFitbit,

Could you or anyone from the Fitbit team share an official statement about the lack of real time swimming statistics in Versa 3?

Do you plan any software upgrade regarding this issue? If yes then when can we expect the release?

And if you don't I think it'd be good to be open and just share it with your core community.

I can sit down and write you an extensive report about the usability issues of versa 3, regarding swimming and other stuff I encounter. However some interaction from your side is also needed..

you ARE mistaken. That option was only available on de original versa. If
you press the left button while swimming in the Versa2 you get the resume
or exit options.

Yes, that's what everyone is saying  so WHY is it not on the supposedly updated 2 and 3?Sent from my Galaxy

I am so angry about the versa3. After-my iconic bit the dust I was advised that the versa was great for exercise tracking.  Not having been in the pool since getting my watch due to Covid I was looking forward to the pools opening to get back to my daily mile.

the versa 3 does Not record real time laps even though I was asked to submit the length of my pool? It’s a waste of time telling me afterwards on the computer....I’m off on my 10k walk then( which does record the gps distance etc)

i am going to have to relent and go back to Garmin

Agree. The most aggravating thing is that with all those complaints, not a
word of apology/explanation from the company.👿

I agree with other posts.....a clock on the wall is more useful to lap swimmers than the Versa 3.  If I had known how useless it was, would have purchased something else, as swimming is my main form of exercise. There is no way for it to count and display laps while swimming.

I also assumed that the versa 3 was an upgrade on my original versa. Having received it in Dec I haven’t had a chance until last week to go to a pool, when I discovered that the 3 doesn’t do live laps like the original versa despite the description ‘use it to track swim workouts with stats like lap counting, duration and calories burned’ no mention that these stats are only available (and inaccurate) in the app. I am very disappointed

I'm with you on this. I would have bought something else had I known.

The advertised swimming tracking was the main reason I upgraded from a Blaze to a Versa3 and I was so disappointed when it did not count my laps correctly whatsoever. I swam 80 laps and it counted less than 60. Also I was not able to check the lap count on the display during the swim which would be an important feature.  Please add this asap. Thanks

I was beyond disappointed and confused thatwhen I finally got my new Versa 3 working the swimming app doesn't count laps... I used my Versa 2 to help to train and complete a 10k charity swim... now that's 500 laps of the pool I train in. Even a professional swimmer can't count 500 laps themselves! *Queue embarrassing moments when 800m swimmer finish 2 lengths early*. So you can understand how I felt when I paid £200 for a watch to help with my swim training to find it doesn't help at all! So please please don't let me have wasted £200 and just update the software!!

Hello, I totally agree with all above. Swimming is my main exercise and I would like to see my progress when I swim. I used versa before, it was counting all my laps, length , duration and pace same time. I could see  all my results when I was swimming. Doesn't make sense that versa 3 cant do this. Whole point of me using versa 3 is to see my swimming. Could you please update this and make us all swimmers happy. It does encourage us to see the progress rather than just time. If I was just worried about about the time I could wear any watch, don't need a fitbit. Versa 3 needs swimming update please.
