Add more swimming stats (lap times, elapsed time, distance or length) on screen

Upgraded from Ionic to Versa 2. Very disappointed with Swim tracking. Versa 2 lost the ability to keep track of elapsed laps. I have to count manually and that defeats the purpose of a fitness tracker. I was told this is working as designed. I will be returning the Versa 2 to Fitbit until this functionality is added. Going back to Ionic. Need the ability to customize Swim stats by:
- Completed Laps
- Elapsed Time
- Heart Rate   (vote here!)

I threw my working Fitbit in the trash and bought a Garmin Swim 2. Great
for swimming and biking.

The exercise app on the watch has the same swim feature as others but you can’t set your goals to distance like you could on the Ionic, would love to see this feature returned to the Versa 3 as well as viewing it real time instead of some sort of stop watch.

This is ridiculous I only just got a Vera 2 due to price and my versa breaking and now I can't track laps... Pointless

Returning it and getting a swim 2 bit more expensive but should have done it from the start

The Versa 3 only has a stopwatch in exercise mode & total length in the app.

Versa 1 had swim laps showing whilst I swam. The app also had stroke detection and the splits for each lap.

Just to have this back would be such a positive change and make things viable. To add in heartrate whilst swimming would be even better.

Versa 1 had a lap counter. The 2 didn't and I hoped the 3 would. Please reinstate this as it's not an update, it is already sitting there in the system somewhere!

Wasting your time really the fitbit dev team and indeed the company don't seem interested in adding this feature, just go out and get a garmin swim 2 or even their fitness trackers alot better than fitbit

Hi @YojanaFitbit .  Thanks for moving my post.  I posted new as I had not realised how much of a long standing issue this is.  Repeated people raising the problem and with time just drifting down into the depths of the board.

What does seem to happen is that those who love swimming don't use FitBit Versa 3 or Sense.

Fitbit does not appear to have any comment as to why this is an issue.  Is it a fundamental hardware or siftware issue that means that what was available on the Versa 1 (and other fitbits) cannot be provided to these suppossed latest and greatest fitbits?  Filing our requests just leaves the feeling of being put out of the way with no answer.  It has been since launch of the devices, not a short time.

I am now spending my time checking out new watches - not Fitbit, as it seems time better spent than chasing something that will not happen with Fitbit.  Pity really as I loved my old Versa and now feel Fitbit is not for me.

I finally gave up and bought an Apple Watch. Absolutely love the swim stats
and haven’t regretted the decision for a moment.

I have given up on Fitbit and bought a Garmin Vivoactive, highly recommend it - so much better than Versa for an extra $90.

FITBIT after sale service is poor.

Hi

I went for Garmin after my Fitbit stopped working - I could not understand why it could not get fixed outside of guarantee. They even told me I was getting good customer service ... LIP service

Very happy with my Garmin. The most it has ever lost is 1 lap, if that.

Thanks for the suggestions.  It does seem as though Garmin is the way forward for me.

I don't understand why Versa 1 has what we want for swimming (minus HR) and was accurate, but Versa 3 is just left with a growing pile of dissappointed customers.  If Fitbit could either say they understand and will fix by X date, or that the hardware is different to Versa 1 and it cannot be done, then at least we have conclusion and can decide to either stick or move, not this years of limbo where the only response from Fitbit is to reorganise our posts.

Guess what.  I've gone from a Fitbit brand advocate to completly disenchanted over the swim exercise failure and how people have been responded to by Fitbit.  The sad thing is that the rest of the watch seems to be as good or better than the Versa 1 plus some cool additional features.  Just no longer a 'fit' focused watch, just a feature watch.

I am also extremely disappointed with my Versa 2 not showing any other stats than duration during my swim. I would have not purchased this having known I would not be able to see something as simple as distance or number of laps, and am now told I cannot return! I can't understand why you can see distance and even pace during a run, but apparently, that function is not possible for a swim!?!? Please sort this out Fitbit.

It is a waste of time entering comments on this blog as no one from Fitbit have chosen to do anything about all the complaints over the last two years about the reduced swimming stats on the current Versa compared to the Versa 1.

So buy and Apple or a Garmin, where the product is better and more suitable for swimmers and the customer service is significantly so much better.

If you are a swimmer DO NOT BUY A VERSA you will be very dissapointed at the waste of money

Fitbit customer support has told me that there are no plans to change the swimming functionality for the Versa/Sense.  So the advice given above to buy an alternative device seems very good.  A great pity, but if Fitbit don't want to help swimmers then they aren't the device to use.

The Versa 3 is a joke on its total length count, both compared to the Versa 1, a person counting my lengths and everyone else in the group checking their watches.  Apparently I can swim 50% further than them by using a Versa 3.

The lack of any useful metrics during swimming, no details after and total lack of engagement by Fitbit means to anyone reading this board before buying, please take note of the repeated suggestions by people here not to buy the current latest and greatest Fitbit models for swimming.  You will be disappointed with a Fitbit Versa 2/3 or Sense.

I would like to be able to view swimming lengths and distance whilst swimming, not just within the app.

It depends on the watch you use. If you use a Versa Lite, 2 or 3 this is not possible because they lack the necessary hardware (gyroscope). It is instead possible with Ionic, original Versa and Sense.
