Add more swimming stats (lap times, elapsed time, distance or length) on screen

Upgraded from Ionic to Versa 2. Very disappointed with Swim tracking. Versa 2 lost the ability to keep track of elapsed laps. I have to count manually and that defeats the purpose of a fitness tracker. I was told this is working as designed. I will be returning the Versa 2 to Fitbit until this functionality is added. Going back to Ionic. Need the ability to customize Swim stats by:
- Completed Laps
- Elapsed Time
- Heart Rate   (vote here!)

I have the versa 3, literally bought it yesterday thinking it tracked laps like the versa, went swimming this morning and was disappointed it didn't. An extra £80 for me to have that feature to use just isn't worth it but wish I'd have known prior to purchase. Any idea why they downgraded the 2 and 3?

This is really depressing.... just bought a Versa 3 and was shocked at the really unhelpful stats it gave more for swimming. Was hoping to find some quick fix on the forum, but it seems this is a problem Fitbit have been ignoring for years! I hope I can swap for a Garmin!

Agreeing with everyone else on this thread... honestly, I find it kind of insulating I have 'Active Zone Minutes' and calories burned, but no lap times or stroke count!

Hi @susanjfl.  It is such a pity that Fitbit has moved away from swimming.  It does seem that all the latest watches have the same lack of any viable swim functionality.  It would be great to hear from a Fitbit product manager as to whether this is a technical limitation or a chosen product design.

As things stand, seeing across new releases, not just Versa 3 the same limitations means I have little hope of any change and so like others am on the Apple or Garmin route going forward.

Used to be an advocate of Fitbit.  No longer.

I feel the exact same way @Jason_here

I've been a loyal Fitbit customer and advocate since the Ultra days... but no longer. Once my Versa kicks the bucket (which I assume will be soon as I've had it for about a year now lol), I'll be going forward with Garmin.

I agree that it’s ridiculous that my friend can track her pool lengths while swimming with her old Versa but I have a brand new one and I can’t keep track of my laps and it doesn’t record any kicking drills I do. A real swimming tracker would do these things.

Thanks for your quick response @Jason_here and others.

You confirmed what I was thinking, and fortunately I managed to take my Versa 3 back and exchange for a Garmin Venu.

Just been swimming with it this morning and it does everything I could possibly ask for - stroke count, interval splits, you can see lengths in the pool, etc -  except actually make me swim faster sadly 😉

All the best.

"Fitbit Versa 3 is water resistant to 50 meters, which means you’re free to track laps in the pool, wear it at the beach and beyond."

This is a quote directly from the product specs page on the Fitbit website. Are there any lawyers present who can advise on false/misleading advertising? The Ionic could track laps but the Versa 3 can't?

Please please please bring back the lap counter!!

Don't forget to vote for the feature on the mobile app for showing time for each lap, instead of calories:

The swimming feature needs to be restored to showing distance, laps and time. This was all displayed by the Ionic - which I had continued to use for years (bought 2) until it was recalled. At first I was very impressed and happy with the recall program discount and refund. I purchased a versa 3 and expected that it would be at least as good as the ionic. I was very let down to find out it is NOT. Selecting swimming in the exercise app only shows time - the whole reason I have a fitness tracker is so i can easily keep track of my workout progress WHILE I workout. FitBit needs to fix this right away - there is no reason to take features away on a supposedly more advanced model. PLEASE FIX THE SWIMMING FEATURE.

Fitbit really needs to restore the distance tracking to the exercise app in real time why is a “new” watch worse than a feature that worked great on the “old” ionic. Just reflecting time is useless any waterproof watch could do a stopwatch feature. I want my Fitbit to be a true fitness tracker so I know where I am in my swimming workout. All exercises should show Al the stats on the watch - if I need my phone it’s no better than any other smartwatch. Please fix this

I upgraded from the Ionic, which had laps on the watch face. Very disappointed that this “upgrade” doesn’t show laps or allow to set a goal for laps. It only has a goal for time elapsed.

I had a Versa which counted laps and distance in real time on the watch face which I loved so when I upgraded to the Versa 3 was devastated to find I had to wait till after my swim to check my laps on the app. Fitbit please upgrade the Versa 3 to show the lap count.

The FitBit Versa 3 requires a real-time swimming length counter like the FitBit 1 does. I bought the newer model as a replacement and the timer only feature in swimming mode is a massive regression for us keen swimmers.

Hi Customer Service Team,

Never going back to Fitbit. I feel lied to regarding the Versa's
performance for tracking swimming in real time (in the pool). I've moved
on. Galaxy Watch 4 and Garmin Swim are an order of magnitude better. My
Fitbit has been retired and now lives in a drawer.

Too bad.

Regards

Due to ionic recall got a versa 3 that supposedly included swim tracking. Disappointing to have only time tracking on watch. That is not needed. Swim feature is a downgrade from earlier watches. Need to add back lap counter. Or do not advertise swim feature.

I would hope fitbit would very soon incorporate swimming lap timings and if possible swolf.

I really miss this lap count that was there on my old versa 2.

I bought the versa 3 as an upgrade to my Versa 2, I swim as a main excersize and loved the fact that the versa 2 showed how many laps I had done. It helped me keep track and I could spot errors as they occurred. (Occasionally it wouldn't count a lap for some reason. So I would make swimming motuons with my arms to make it catch up.) I am soo disappointed that the versa 3 doesn't show this in real time. I went swimming for the first time with my new watch yesterday and had to wait till I got back to my phone to check. And yes it had miscalculated my lengths. And I couldn't 'correct it' at the time.

I wonder if Fitbit is going to improve on the swimming tracking or just to
leave it there as another normal swim feature. I could only count my laps
with sense. For details of my swim I still have to depend on Garmin swim.
The auto recognize for swimming is also grossly inaccurate.
