Add more swimming stats (lap times, elapsed time, distance or length) on screen

Upgraded from Ionic to Versa 2. Very disappointed with Swim tracking. Versa 2 lost the ability to keep track of elapsed laps. I have to count manually and that defeats the purpose of a fitness tracker. I was told this is working as designed. I will be returning the Versa 2 to Fitbit until this functionality is added. Going back to Ionic. Need the ability to customize Swim stats by:
- Completed Laps
- Elapsed Time
- Heart Rate   (vote here!)

Hi Fitbit Coach.
This response does not pertain to my suggestion. The Fitbit original Versa before the last update Ivwas able to see on the Fitbit as I was swimming which lap I was on. Now you can only view laps after you are done. My suggestion is to reinstate lap count so one does not have to mentally keep track of laps swum.
Please keep me posted when this feature becomes available again.
Thank you,
Sally

It would be great if you could track how many laps you have swam, while you are in the pool and not only once you have completed your workout and then look on the app.

Hi @Haze1990. Thanks for explaining why you'd like to see more stats displayed during your swim exercise right on the Versa 2. This feature suggestion already exists, so I’ve moved your post here. That way we can keep this board organized and clearly understanding which idea other members are voting for. Don’t forget to click on the thumbs-up to show your support!

Dear Fitbit Represe Tatiana e,
Maybe my written request is not clear. Yes, on the app you can see time, distance or length. However on the fitbit itself; while swimming you can only see time NOT laps. On my versa 1 (before the update in november) I could see on my fitbit what lap I was swimming. If this e-mail is not clarifying my request PLEASE have an English speaking representitive phone me at 775 772-1524.
Sincerely,
Sally Coullahan

The swim function is pretty much useless. The Versa 2 really needs to provide real-time feedback on all available data points (incl. laps and distance).

Would not recommend this watch for swimmers at all.

I have friends with Apple and Garmin watches and the Versa 2 is nowhere near as capable as these brands.

This should be a priority fix for Fitbit.

I just got the versa 2 that I thought was an upgrade on the versa. It's extremely disappointing to know the versa 2 doesn't display distance or laps swam. Why would a swimmer get out and check app whilst swimming.  What's the point of timing a swim. Please please upgrade the versa 2 to include this feature. Either lap count or distance swam or both.

In my view, Fitbit is misleading it’s customers by saying the Versa 2 is suitable for swim training.

Without real-time data feedback directly from the watch, it is not fit-for-purpose.

Fitbit should be compelled to make this obvious to consumer. Fitbit’s current advertising is misleading!

I changed from Alta HR to CH 3 because of swimming feature. I’m very disappointed. One week after the purchase CH 3 was exchanged due to totally incorrect step count and 6 months later the watch screen went black, so they were exchanged again. Now I started swimming and they’re useless. I often lost track of number of lapses, so it would be great to see it on the watch face while swimming. I also have issues with female health tracking. So in total this watch is a huge disappointment.

Does someone know if this will be implemented in the versa 2? It's really a must to see your laps, etc while swimming. It couldn't be that hard right to bring this feature to the versa 2 especialy when the first one has it ?

Kind regards

Hi @Goodwisa1! Great suggestion, thanks for sharing your feedback. I've moved it into a similar request.  A lot of users are asking for this option, I hope we receive updates soon.

I think you can see this thread has been going on for 8 months, so hugely disappointing that Fitbit continue to ignore their customers and misleading advertise the Versa2, no idea how long we all have to wait fir Fitbit to ‘do the right thing’ and update the Versa2 to have this feature as in the original Versa
They have the technology, they just lack the will to do it ....

The Versa 1 watchface in the swim tracking app showed  lengths of the pool completed, meters completed, and time passed. These were all pretty accurate and very helpful when swimming. Strangely, the only 'goal' the Versa 2 offers is a timer. There is already a timer on the Versa, so what's the point? All the other exercise trackers offer laps. Please restore the pre-existing goals on the Versa 2?? For keen swimmers they are a must.  Thanks very much.

Hello Stephen,
I totally agree. I'm afraid we're being forced to buy another brand of smartwatch.
A healthy and sporty 2020.

so disappointing that fitbit has reduced the functionality of the versa2 from versa1. We need to be able to select laps and distance DURING swimming. otherwise no point having it on.
Most swimmers have distance or lap goals in the pool and wear their watch so they can occasionally glance at it and see how much they have done

I could not agree more with every single thread on this issue and am HUGELY disappointed at the lack of understanding of FitBits customer base when you made the change from Versa to Versa 2. I cannot even fathom who thought it would be a good idea but it is clear that there were 0 swimmers on the advisory board. I am currently deciding whether to return the Versa 2 or buy some sort of additional device to track my laps! I am hoping you have garnered enough complaints on this issue to actually DO something about it instead of just waiting to see what more customers will say.

I took delivery of my VERSA 2 after my original VERSA stopped working after 2 x years.  I was also very disappointed that the supposed upgraded version of the VERSA does not have the Laps visible during the swim.  Why would this functionality be removed?

I bought the versa 2 primarily as a swim tracker with everything else as a secondary function.

Not being able to keep count of laps as I swim makes this watch virtually useless to me.

My feelings exactly. I upgraded to the Versa 2 when my original Versa
stopped working.
Why would functionality be removed from a supposed upgraded model?
I will probably return it and buy the standard Versa.

I bought an inspire HR because I read that it supported swimming stats. As previously said, it does but in the app, not on the watch, useless when swimming. Bringing back the device to the store tomorrow.

It is incomprehensible that an UPGRADED watch, Versa 2, looses a feature to an earlier version Versa. No lap counting while swimming.

What really happened to loose that ability?

I am so frustrated, all I see is the same exact complaint from all Versa2 owners regarding the lack of the laps counter missing, which was originally on the lower version of Versa. All I see the moderators saying is, great idea. Well duh, Fitbit knew already it was not included in Versa2, which is incomprehensible. Tell us now if it will be added back! Stop stringing us along with silly comments like, great idea! It was there in the first place with the original Versa. Talk about false advertising! I belong to a huge swim community and am telling everyone to get an Apple Watch.

I was very excited to get my Versa 2 so that I could have a Fitbit (had the Charge 2 before) that was waterproof and I could take into the pool.  I have a Swim Garmin which is AMAZING but I would have to switch between the Garmin and the Fitbit while teaching lessons, swimming or doing swim team.  So I asked my husband to get me the Versa, my friend has a Versa and she is the reason I wanted the Versa to begin with.  She is able to see her lap count in real time on her watch face while swimming.  While I have the Versa 2 which is supposed to be an upgrade and all I can see is a stinking timer.  What is the point in that?  Is the developer not aware of what the needs of a swimmer are?  Why would you take away a feature that was on the original model when the Versa 2 is supposed to be an upgrade?  You already have the programming for it from the original Versa, DO AN UPDATE!  What is so hard about that?  Everytime someone submits their complaint you share the swimming specs, we're aware of what it can do, we're using it!  But seeing a lap count on our phone after our swim is already done IS OF NO USE!  We would have already done all the counting in our head since we have a worthless watch on our arm.
