Add music controls to Charge 6

The music controls on your new Charge 6 are just some advertisement to most. Its for a paid service only and was the only feature that may have convinced me to get the device till I saw. Switch this to use generic commands, to control any music playing on your phone. Generic controls exist on lots of Bluetooth headphones, surely Charge 6 could too.

Just bought the Charge 6 after my Charge 4 strap holder snapped. Stunned to see it doesn't support Spotify and media control. Would not recommend this product until this gets fixed, and I've been using Fitbit for years.

This feature would make the charge 6 to a perfect match for me!

Would love to buy a charge 6, because the other features are very intersting.

So I'm thinking about buying a Xiaomi Band 9.

The higher price of the charge 6 (compared to the Band 9) would be fine for me, when this feature is added 🙂

It is absolutely wild that this feature existed on the previous model and they spent time and development effort to remove what is a standard basic feature.

I was about to upgrade from my Inspire to the Charge so that I could control my podcasts from the wrist, but luckily I saw this first. It's not just a feature missing, it's a feature deliberately removed for anti-competitive reasons. Certainly turns me off Fitbit as a brand.

Disappointed to learn the Charge 6 does not include music control. Please consider adding this in an update, thank you.

Given a year and a half of this thread existing I have little hope for this feature but I will say for someone who usually does enjoy Google products, you are losing me by trying to ecosystem lock me in.

Not interested in YouTube music and I'd even like to uninstall it as I consider things like this bloatware.

Let the user decide what they want and offer a suggestion for YouTube, but to force it is in bad taste.

Spotify is my preferred platform and would appreciate the ability to control it from my charge6.

I’m wanting to purchase a fitbit for my partner & myself. We have used Spotify for years and don’t plan on paying another music premium subscription and transferring music over. This being non-inclusive to the charge 6 is the only factor stopping me from purchasing at this time - otherwise great watch! Hopefully this option is integrated in the next few months!

Yes this would be useful. I would use it everyday. Thanks for starting this topic and I hope it gets added to Charge 6!

Garmin has universal support for any music app. Spotify is a no-brainer, but the platform should be as open as possible in my view. To be forced into a Youtube subscription creates a bad feeling about that and about Fitbit’s takeover by Google. If you fear competition, your product must be bad.

Yeah I agree. Universal music co trials would make everyone a lot happier cause they’re not paying literally almost 20 bucks a month to for music. It would be really nice if Google would add this and take away just Youtbube music controls. Also at he beginning, they said “if it gains popularity” and it has over 400 votes by now I think they should add it cause enough people voted yes for it.

Let’s hope so. It’s just a play button, but they turn it into a forced subscription - it's feels wrong.

Another solution would be to allow and facilitate third party apps. I honesty like the simplicity of the Fitbit OS.

Just bought one for myself and one for my boyfriend. Very sadly will have to return as we can't control Spotify. I thought I was upgrading from Xiaomi, but actually it's a massive downgrade. Xiaomi has generic music controls.
