Add music controls to Charge 6

The music controls on your new Charge 6 are just some advertisement to most. Its for a paid service only and was the only feature that may have convinced me to get the device till I saw. Switch this to use generic commands, to control any music playing on your phone. Generic controls exist on lots of Bluetooth headphones, surely Charge 6 could too.

It's beyond understanding to me how this feature was not shipped with the release. I use music every day, it's an integral part of almost any Bluetooth device. Even 3 dollar china speakers come with the default protocol to control any media playing on the phone, it's just the standard for every device but the Fitbit, one must almost assume malicious intent to push a service almost no one wants (YouTube music)

Since I bought this product in 2024 I have been disappointed with every update and the Charge 6 resides in the back of a drawer for almost a year now. I finally gave up my hope that fitbit will start listening to its customers.

I'm heavily regretting having spent so much money on such a sub-par device and will definitely prefer other brands in the future. Well done fitbit....

I will never subscribe to YouTube Music.

Hi Fitbit/Google,

Please respond to this thread. I have not seen a single post from any moderator or anything in this thread about music controls for the Charge 6. I am pretty sure everyone who has a Charge 6 wants to have universal music controls, and yet, nothing has been done since this was first posted in 2023. When the device first was released. I have contacted support many times about this, asking for dates as to when this feature will be released, but nothing has been done. If you want to be a good, reliable major company, then please make your customers happy. But right now, everyone who has up-voted this feature (458) is not happy. I think everyone who has commented on this thread has just given up, I have not (but I am very close). I have been watching the comments and I can clearly see that there are enough up-votes and comments to the moderators that something should've been done already, since it has been three whole years (does it really take that long?). The Charge 6 is a cool little device, it has everything I need, except the support for universal music controls. Even Apple (who has a very strictly closed ecosystem) allows for universal music, not just their own music app (Apple Music). So please, if a moderator sees this, please pass this to the developer teams so they can add this feature. It would make Fitbit/Google a much better company by making its customers happy and content with the product they payed $160 for. Thanks, looking forward to seeing this feature within the coming months (please not years).

Hi !

I'm joining Xambro for this.

Please do something about it.

We are a community, not simple customers that throw in the trash the device when something is missing in the firmware.

We want to fight for the device we own.

And "considering" something that hundreds of people want, then do absolutely NOTHING about it, is not how we should be treated.

@NicoDelfino, it doesn't seem like they care. This is a classic case of a company prioritizing its ecosystem over user convenience. Google, it's OK to be different. I think your customers want you to be different. No response shows me this feature will never happen. I keep looking through random posts about Fitbit products, the moderators keep saying that Fitbit tries so hard to improve their products that they already have so that the users are happy. Devices that they ALREADY HAVE. I dont want a new watch, I dont want to spend more money on a Charge 7 (if thats ever gonna be a thing) I like the Charge 6, I use it for working out, thats about it. But part of that workout routine is listening to music. I am on iOS and have Apple Music. It'd be cool to not have to take out my phone for my music, cause I am most certainly not paying for YouTube music. See how Google tries to rip their users off like this? They say "Oh, we have this great watch coming out, has music controls, but only for YouTubs music, which you actually have to pay us for sorry guys." I'm on the verge of giving up. There are multiple fitness watches on Amazon for $45 or less!!! They have universal music controls, plus even more features than what the Charge 6 has. Just cause Google is a big company, dosent mean they wont try and rip you off.

@VasVadum , @shpigi , @NicoDelfino , @FitterHawk , @ChrisFit24 , can SOMEONE please respond to us? I am getting a bit annoyed at this point that no moderator has responded to anyone. There are over 1,000 votes, (here only over 450 but there are other posts about this as well), and it is not fair to us, Google's customers, to be treated this way.
