This suggestion is to add Cross Country Skiing as an activity on Fitbit Charge3. Skiing is one of our main activity half of the year in Norway and it would be great to have a specific activity option for just that.
You also had shared a unique suggestion, so I have retitled and relabelled your original post here to reflect that idea. Please try to make sure you only post one idea per suggestion, so we can keep the board organized, easily searchable and see which idea other members are voting for.
Sorry for jumping into this one but regarding Cross Country Skiing, it is important that this is tagged as a separate activity / exercise type when synchronizing to Strava. I am not able to log stats on Strava segments otherwise, which to me is an important feature.
Currently I have to log this activity with Strava on my phone.
I am able to add a manual activity and choose "Cross country Skiing" from the list of available activities, but this naturally does not include GPS data, thus rending this option more or less useless.
Cross country skiing data can be logged and analyzed similar to the "Bike" activity. Make a copy of this and call it "Cross country skiing". Apple Watch users have this option.
Thank you Erik. I was hoping not to have to use Strava. One Tech device is enough for me. I've been using the running mode. I'll try the biking mode today. Ellen

@EllenT.login my comment was mostly meant for @EdsonFitbit , just to add to your request for this activity option. In my opinion, choosing "Bike" when you do Cross country skiing gives you the best data for comparison. Remember to change activity type afterwards. However this will still not give you Cross country skiing segments after syncing with Strava, at least this is the case for me.
My idea is that the Fitbit developers (@EdsonFitbit) could just copy the "Bike" activity and change it to "Cross country skiing" in a way the it is recognized with Strava. It is already available as an alternative when adding manual activities. Surely the Fitbit app is a very good app but as long as Strava is as widely used as it is, it is important for me to have this interaction.
@EdsonFitbit this is still marked as “needs more info”, I think it is clear from EllenT.login and ErikBM’s latest exchage that this feature request refers to cross country skiing. I’m also using the bike activity because it seems to be the only way to get gps and record distance accurately. But bike cannot be changed to cross country skiing afterwards.
Also in Germany we do cross country skiing, at least in the Black Forrest
I had the same problem. I recorded my training as hiking with GPS with my Ionic. Afterwards I wanted to change it with the windows app to cross country skiing but by doing that all the GPS data were deleted.
So please add the activity not only for the charge 3 but also for the ionic
I live in Maine, and often times xcountry ski in the woods on snowmobile trails or in parks. It’s frustrating because I want the gps tracker to see how far I’ve gone (sometimes I just chose the ‘walk’ mode to see a map). It would be great to add this to the activities to log while I’m doing it to get accurate heart rate, instead of having to input it later.
Yes I have Been very disappointed with the exercise options that Fit Bit has to offer. Fit bit has a very limited exercise option menu. Without a doubt cross-country skiing, downhill skiing, Aqua jogging, and water exercise should be included along with dozens of other common activities.

Yes, please add cross country skiing! Ideally break it down into skate skiing and classic skiing, but I will take a generic cross country skiing category. Nordic skiing is the most complete aerobic/body workout a person can do!
Hi @Nordic! Great suggestion, thanks for sharing your feedback. I've moved it into a similarrequest. Post a comment or click on the thumbs-up to show your support.
Just finished a 10k Cross-Country skiing session with my Fitbit Ionic. I must say I am very disapointed that my Fitbit does not include this feature. I like my Ionic otherwise but the lack of different workouts is a huge drawback. The watch already have all the sensors built in to record the session and display it correctly. Fitbit trackers are also very popular here in the Nordic region were skiing is a huge sport for most people, but the lack of a skiing workout makes it less competitive than other brands.
I simply ask for a dedicated (cross country) skiing workout that tracks:
- Timing
- Speed (avg speed also perhaps)
- Elevation
- Heart Rate
- Pace (min/km)
- Splits distance or time (auto or manual)
Hopefully this workout and others will come soon??
I have had Fitbit Versa for 2 years now and it is still missing cross country skiing extension in Exercice app. Please add it as soon as possible, you are losing a lot of possible customers in Nordics because of this.
Hi @Akseli, thanks for taking the time to share your feedback about adding cross country-skiing with us, this feature suggestion already exists so I’ve moved your post here to keep this board organized.
I agree. Fitbit could easily add formulas for cross country skiing camo downhill skiing, aqua, And a host of other exercise alternatives. I'm find Fitbit to be very inadequate for my needs. In addition I find that having only 7 exercise options on the Fitbit is very limiting. Who has time to reprogram their Fitbit on a regular basic before they do a workout? I definitely will not be purchasing another Fitbit. EllenT.
