This suggestion is to add Cross Country Skiing as an activity on Fitbit Charge3. Skiing is one of our main activity half of the year in Norway and it would be great to have a specific activity option for just that.
Hi @ASteins, thanks for taking the time to share your feedback about adding cross country skiing. This feature suggestion already exists so I’ve moved your post here to keep this board organized.
I have not found a Fit Bit app for cross country or downhill skiing. Since I engage in those two activities frequently during the winter I would love to see Fit Bit add apps for those two forms of exercise.
Please try to make sure you only post one idea per suggestion, so we can keep the board organized, easily searchable and see which idea other members are voting for.
Yes I agree alpine and nordic skiing are very common activities that energy expenditures formulas exist for. Fitbit: Your customers are not recommending you to others because of all the activities you are not supporting with yourself software.

I live in the high Rockies and Nordic skiing is huge up here! None of the available "workouts" come close to capturing my calories, distance, etc. Please add Nordic skiing as a workout!!

The closest thing I can get on the Fitbit for nordic skiing is the bicycle mode because in accounts for downhill action unlike the running mode (skiing downhill is too fast for the running mode). If you want to carry your cellphone around you could just use Strava. I wish Fitbit which add nordic skiing and many other forms of exercise.

To be honest I am quite disappointed that Fitbit have not addressed this issue years ago. I have been a Fitbit user for many years and have raised the issue in these forums from the beginning. Some people say you can track the exercise as walk or run and then chance it later. But it is not possible. There is no save option and 3 minutes later it is back to run or walk. It seems to me that Fitbit have don’t have the intention of being an all round multipurpose tracker. At least if you live in the Nordic countries. It must be such an easy task to copy the features of walk or run and call it skiing. I am looking for my future replacement tracker already. But for sure, if this easy issue is not resolved, my next one will be a different brand!
Following this with interest. I'm stunned that cross country skiing isn't an option under exercise! I hope Fitbit moves swiftly to add it. In the meantime, am I correct in understanding that biking is the best substitute?
I would really love to have cross-country skiing adding as an activity on my fitbit! Our Canadian winters consists of 5 months of doing this particular activity. Fitbit currently has very little winter activities listed which is disappointing. Also canoeing / kayaking would also be nice added activities.
My two main winter exercises are yoga and cross country skiing and neither are exercise options on the FitBit 4... As the primary purpose of the FitBit is to track exercise, there should be more specific exercises to choose from.
It is very frustrating that fitbit does not include cross country skiing as an exercise option on the ionic. As other users have mentioned, an option for classic and an option for skate would be fantastic, but as a minimum nordic skiing should be included.
I agree. I find it odd that they have not included cross country skiing in the list of exercises. It is one of the most popular in snow country during the winter months. Dave Walsh
Hi @tanyafehr, thanks for explaining why you would like to have the option to add Cross Country Skiing to the exercise list. I've moved it into a similar suggestion which has been updated as "Under Consideration". I hope to see you around.
Yes, I agree! Add Nordic skiing! I just started this season, my sister is guiding me each trail. I'm trying different versa exercise modes...elliptical? Workout? They don't have GPS like run & bike.
My sister's apple watch has XC ski, just saying. So we can compare stats after, which are wildly different btw.
