This suggestion is to add Cross Country Skiing as an activity on Fitbit Charge3. Skiing is one of our main activity half of the year in Norway and it would be great to have a specific activity option for just that.
Thanks for your reply. Someone else commented that FitBit is only interested in selling watches and they have switched to Runkeeper which does track XC Skiing. That may be an option but a better option is if their is a replacement device.
I'm sure it will be up to Google to improve the app & add activities now that they own FitBit, question is how long will it take! Google Fit has XC skiing, and over 100 other activities that work from an android device. If they combine the best functionality from both products , it'll rock. Here's the list Activity Types | Google Fit | Google Developers
Never reaching peak despite major efforts while skiing using automatic heart rate monitoring or Exercise>Walk mode has made me suspicious
So I tried XC skiing today under Exercise>Bike mode today as suggested : Identical circuit and conditions as previous days, but longer and more moderate pace.
Over 50% (about an hour) was in peak zone, despite gentler pace.
My conclusion is that Bike Mode is required if you want accurate monitoring for Cross Country Skiing. (As for biking but it's more obvious)
I would urge Fitbit to make this known so that old farts like me do not blow a gasket trying to get a little peak exercise.
I am able to reach peak heart by recording X country ski as hike.... Then log as previous..... The only thing is that you then have 2 events recorded and should delete hike.... Thereby losing the map generated by the GPS. All they need to do is include cross country skiing in their list. They have all the ingredients.... Just create the recipe!
Hi @bjorneinar, thanks for explaining why you would like to have the option to add Cross Country Skiing to exercises shortcut. I've moved it into a similar suggestion which has been updated as "Under Consideration". I hope to see you around.
Please add cross country skiing as a tracked activity option. Currently it is possible to choose this manually but it is a very common activity for exercise and would be very useful.

It’s been more than five years since the first request for cross country/Nordic skiing tracking was raised.
I guess it’s safe to say that us Fitbit users will never see this feature implemented.
That’s a shame. Been a Fitbit Ionic user since they took over Pebble which was my previous smart watch. Will not be buying a new Fitbit when this Ionic stops working, as I don’t think they take advantage of the product being a “smart watch” and subsequently upgrade it with features that people request and want. At least not people in the rest of the world outside the states. (I really do not need “yoga” or “pilates” tracking, which is actually there - I guess they’re big in SoCal & NY - but definitely not here in Scandinavia. Give us cross country & downhill skiing - and you’ve made half of Europe happy - but after five years we all know you won’t).
I gave up. I am done with FitBit & just spent a boat load of money to buy a Garmin Fenix 5s which is phenomenal. It does a wonderful job of tracking our Nordic skiing which makes me so happy. FitBit I really wanted to stay with you guys but you didn't make it work for me. I am sad to leave Fitbit!
