Adjust the font and contrast of the app

While I’m on the bandwagon to go back to the old dashboard, I’m practical enough to know that “not currently planned” means it isn’t going to happen. That being said, I would highly suggest some sort of plan for accessibility in any future upgrades. As a legally blind user I was thrilled to be able to use my FitBit iOS app to track health and fitness data. With a number of medical conditions, this is very important to me. With the recent upgrade I’m no longer able to see any of my data due to the font size and lack of contrast. I would ask that any future upgrades have a way to allow those with vision difficulties to at least adjust the font and contrast to make viewing data possible. As of right now your current upgrade has reduced my device to an overpriced watch. When I purchased my first FitBit I thought I had found a company that was friendly to the disabled and vision-impaired communities. I’m starting to rethink my decision and may, if no such accessibility is forthcoming, spread that though among the many areas of such communities and its social media platforms.

As for the contrast, I like the dark background you see when you decide to share a screenshot of your activity. I would share an image but not sure how to insert and I also got a message saying I do not have permissions to upload images.

I wish we had the option to change between those backgrounds when sharing just a single image.

Dashboard font size has been reduced so small it cannot be read without stopping our workouts to put on reading glasses, or having to stop and ask a stranger at the gym if they could please read my current heart rate and stats to me, because Fitbit just updated their software and made it too small for normal humans over 40 to read.

We are incredibly disappointed.  I have tried to DM "customer service help" three times, each time receiving a form-letter response that does not address my issue, but gives me a link to this forum.  They have asked for screen shots, but when I asked for a method to send them they responded with another form-letter, this time thanking me for the additional information THAT I DID NOT SEND.

Hi @AmberLaValle  are you referring to the screen of your device or the mobile device you use to see your stats? On my Android phone, I go to the settings and make the font size and style larger. Have you tried that?

Totally hate the new app update! The font is unbelievably tiny, with almost no color contrast between the background and lettering. There should be a way for users to either (a) choose font size and contrast to suit their preference, OR (b) revert back to the previous 'analog' app. The new app doesn't add anything worthwhile. The extra spaced (gained by reducing font size) is now utilized as empty background space. Why? Do you really think your customers want to struggle to see their information? Quite ridiculous. Please give us a new update with CLEAR FONT and STRONG CONTRAST! Otherwise, I'll begin looking for a different fitness band for myself and my family.

Yes, new app font is too small. Make it larger!

A number of comments on various posts have identified that the new app presents issues related to font size and accessibility. Fitbit helps improve your health and accessibility should be a key consideration.

I voted for this and I’ve raised a feature suggestion I think will help to improve the Today screen in the new dashboard by removing white space. I believe this should help from a visibility/ accessibility point of view and thought it might be of interest to those commenting on here. Have a look and if you think it will help vote / comment.

If I increase the font size of my phone, the font size of other applications will be too large. That's why you need to increase the font size of the Fitbit app.

Please increase the font size of the information on the display. The point of information is to be seen and understood. If I can't read the text then it can't motivate me to use my fitbit and get healthier.

I agree that the small, thin font used for the text within the app is harder to read than previous version. The point size and lack of contrast make it difficult to read. The vastness of white on the screen is disconcerting. A more colorful user interface with bold text would create some ease of use. I’ve slowly begun to use the app less and less since the last updated version. And now am asking others when I’m at the YMCA, for recommendations of a different activity tracker. Maybe the time has come to try something new and different than FitBit.

*1 and request for the same enhancement on the Android app..  The outline font used in some submenus is more or less invisible to me and I see no way to change it or visually enhance.

I have a charge 2 and have to replace it because I can't read anything but the time (and barely that) without my reading glasses, which I can't wear when I exercise. I have the versa lite in my cart but, after reading these comments, will delete it and look for something else. It seems as they have no plans to add a feature to increase the font size. I'm assuming it's mostly to do with their target age group, which must be 30 and younger. Too bad, I've been a loyal fitbit user for years, I use the app, I use the dashboard, track my food, etc. But will have to find another brand. It really stinks when a company leaves a huge age group high and dry instead of making a simple fix.

Hi,

I am partially sighted and find usung the app incredibly difficult!

The font colour is too pale and too small.

Could we please have an Equalities “Reasonable Adjustment” to the App?
- larger font
- darker font
- better colour contrast

I am paying for the premium version too!!

Thank you

Hi @CindyGM, thanks for explaining why you would like to have the option to adjust the font and contrast of the app. You can also vote for this other suggestion: Dark Theme in Fitbit App (Android, Win10 and iOS). Thanks for sharing your feedback. I've moved it into a similar request.  A lot of users are asking for this option, I hope we receive updates soon.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give us some control over font size in messaging. I'm begging you!

I just came back to Fitbit with the new Sense, assuming that I would be able to see the messaging information when it comes in. CAN'T unless I'm wearing my reading glasses.

This was one of the reasons I left Fitbit a few years ago. Now I have to decide whether I want to return this new Sense watch and go back to being able to read my messages on my wrist.

if you feel it's more important to integrate Spotify or Pokemon Go before dealing with the font size that has been asking for YEARS, just because there are more votes for those features, I'm sorry and surprised ... There are logical and essential demands, and others which are only frivolous but popular ... Make the right choices !

The Android app (and maybe the iOS app too) needs to be fully accessible/usable to those individuals who have to use large font or the zoom feature on their mobile devices . Currently, if either of those options are set, some of the options on, for example, food logging ae no longer visible on screen

Im a bit old and i have trouble reading my heart rate on my phone screen whilst working out or on the running machine in the gym.
Would it be possible for the user to make fonts/displays larger on screen or have a personalized screen showing heart rate or other selected data full screen?
