Allow More Fitbit Devices than Ace to Family Account

I am frustrated that I cannot give my Fitbit blaze to my daughter and use the family account. The only device it will allow you to since is the Ace. The Blaze is far better and it would be extremely useful to her. The only way I can have her use the Blaze is to lie about her age and create a single account for her. Please allow other devices on the family account for minors.

Fitbit will never respond. The most non customer centric company I know.
I was in the same situation over a year ago.

All they do is talk about themselves

After a year and so many users commenting, why are we still not able to use ANY Fitbit device with a kids account.  Been holding out on buying an Apple Watch as a replacement for my Fitbit , because I wanted to stay true to you guys.  Now,  I’m thinking that it’s time to just switch.  Why stay with a company that doesn’t want to meet my needs.  I’m not buying another Fitbit.  I’ll find a different pedometer for my son and I’m switching.  Most everyone else I know has anyways.

The fitbit ace is a terrible product. Battery lasted a few days at first, but after a month only one day. After 3 months, only a few hours. Returning it now. Daughter really loves the concept of fitbit, and would really like to buy her a more upscale version than the ace, but for that to be an option they need to support kid accounts just like the Ace. Please make it happen!

Why would you not allow child accounts to use any device (most of which would be more expensive and have more features)? This would be a very useful feature.

I agree with previous posts, I bought Inspire HR for my son and just learned that it can’t be paired with a family account. Quite frustrating!

Please please get this right Fitbit. My 8 year old has had the Flex 2 for a university of Georgia research study fo the past year. Now he wants one with more features and he finds the looks of the Ace too childlike. I must agree. Parents should be able to pick what ever device they want for their kids. We are still giving you our money and promoting the health of our kids. Please fix this and soon!

Fitbit doesn't want to fix this. They want people to leave their ecosystem.
I'll switch my family over to Apple this year. Good luck, Fitbit. This is
just not the way to deal with customers.

Agree to this.

Fitbit must add the possibility for children to use other Fitbits.

My child is using the Charge 3.

Same here.  I don't want to buy a kiddie device my daughter will outgrow very soon.  Nor do I want to expose her to all the phishing accounts with an adult account.  Researching other fitness trackers.

Our 11-year-old just purchased a Charge 3 and only now have we found out that Fitbit hasn’t figured out a way to make it to work for children. Give me a break — how hard it can it be to block or change the social networking features for kids? So basically, we’re forced to set up his account and lie about his birthday, when it would’ve been great to have him on the family account.

The children’s account device list should be upgraded to include the inspire. The Ace 2 colours only appeal to a younger child(less than 7) while the inspire offers a more mature colour selection.

I just bought a fitbit inspire for my son.  Why on earth am I unable to link it to his account?!  He is 12 years old and doesn't need a child-sized wrist band.  Please fix this.

I agree with the other comments.  We bought our 11 year old daughter a Charge 3 and now the only way to set up an account for her is to lie about her age.  I love the idea of the Family Account - it is exactly the solution I am looking for.   Please, please, please allow other Fitbits to be paired with the child account.

I am shocked that this has not been resolved. I recently upgraded to a Versa and intended to give my old Alta HR to my son. I can't believe that you can only add an Ace to the family account. My son is old enough that he doesn't want a kiddie tracker, but doesn't have his own phone to link the device to. Come on FitBit! This is very poor customer service. Your customers have been saying this for over a year now. Shame on you!

I agree with all these comments. I have just bought an Inspire for my soon to be 11 year old's birthday and I can't believe I won't be able to set it up for him under the family account. The Ace 2 seems great for really little kids but way too childish for the preteens who want to track their activity. Not impressed.

Why there is still no answer from fitbit. I would like to know if they are working on this feature or not. Otherwise I change to other trackers for the whole family.

I agree totally. It doesn't matter what kind if Fitbit just that it is not just Ace for kids.

I was very happy to see that Fitbit came with the family thing and I got my self a new Fitbit and gave my 12 year old my old one (that I hot I january so not that old) but she cant use it in  the kids account. I found out she can only use Ace.

I saw that fitbit answer with god ide let's she what other people say. Why? For me that is just logical to do. And why is it not done yet? This was posted almost 1 year ago.

And why are people arguing about what kind of fitbit is ok for kids or not. Why not make it possible with ALL fitbit and if u don't like one tipe for kids dont give it to your kid. Easy..

I agree 100%. I'm in marketing and I understand a company's need to SELL MORE NEWER PRODUCTS but some of us  just got an upgrade to Charge 3 and I want to see how my son's sleep patterns are (health reasons) while he uses a hand-me-down Flex. I cannot sync the Flex to my family account bc all FB allows is Ace and Ace 2. Please open that up to other older devices to keep consumers HAPPY!

I agree completely. My son saved up and chose an Inspire. I was really excited and reassured to see that there is a child account option. And subsequently incredibly disappointed to see it’s only available with the Ace. As others point out this is not sending out the right message. My son is 12 and sees the Ace (2 particularly) as babyish. Please fix this or at least explain the logic behind this decision.

I likewise agree with the OP. My Flex was down to needing to be charged every two days or so, so I finally upgraded and was going to let my 8yo have my flex. Family account seemed an awesome idea until I saw it was only for 'kids' devices... Lame Fitbit. listen to the 500+ that have upvoted this and allows us to use whatever fitbit we want on a child account...

I am in total agreement. This seems just a way for Fitbit to make more money by only allowing a child account to have an Ace attached to it. As a parent, a person who likes to reuse, and save money, it is disappointing to not allow for the use of an alternative in the child account.

I completely agree.i am most disappointed. My 10 year old wanted the functionality and style of the charge3, so I bought that one for his birthday with no idea it couldn't be set up as a child account. It makes no sense to force all kids under 6 to use the ace, let then use any tracker with a kids account!!

I am also upgrading my own Fitbit and am giving my daughter my Charge 2.  It would be very useful to her if she was able to use all the features as designed (with the "age" requirement bypassed).  I hope this can be updated/changed in the near-near future!
