Allow Spotify offline on Versa series and Sense

After long time Fitbit released a Spotify app for Ionic/Versa (for now only on Versa 2). See this suggestion now marked as solved.

However this app does not allow to download music for offline listening (for example while working-out).

Hence this new suggestion.

There are only a few reasons why those in the know don't say what they know.

1) they don't know (yeah!)

2) they have been told not to get involved

3) other commercial reasons that we consumers mustn't know.

Who would be surprised if Google Play Music is pushed upon us in the future?

Yours, a disgruntled Fitbit user who loves Spotify

@gravydan my thoughts entirely!

Does it actually say at the top of this thread that this issue is now marked as solved?!! 🤔

It sucks that someone created a spotify app for fitbit. Fitbit hired said
person. Fitbit never released offline spotify.... WHY???

I think the only thing we can do now is to upvote this post, and keep commenting. If the Fitbit team is going to ignore this, they're going to have a harder time when it has thousands of votes.

So encourage your friends to upvote and comment so we can finally see this feature added.

@Giampi71 as OP maybe you can update the title with "We need" or replace "Hence this new suggestion" with a more detailed description of the fact that the so-called solved thread was not solved at all, and this problem is driving many away from using or recommending fitbit products (many moving toward garmin or fossil). Would appreciate input on whether or not this is all a waste of time @YojanaFitbit @DavideFitbit

Exactly as others have said...not being able to download music from Spotify completely defeats the purpose of buying a watch with a built-in GPS where the entire point is to be able to leave your phone elsewhere. Please fix this asap.  I wish I had known this before selecting the device or I may have chosen something else as Spotify is pretty much what I use exclusively during workouts (because of the offline listening abilities).  Dissapointing that Fitbit has not included support for this feature. 😞

We as a community want you to address the ongoing issue regarding Spotify downloads. There have been a number of supported threads regarding this, the most active Download music on Versa/Ionic from Spotify to be marked as "solved" when it has NOT been solved at all!

Many of your customers purchased/received as gift with the understanding that they could download music - a disingenuous claim by Fitbit as the app only offers control of Spotify on another device, this is useless

Fitbit, please address this issue and keep us informed as to progress - this problem is driving many new and existing customers away from using or recommending Fitbit products (many moving toward Garmin or Fossil)

Hi @GrazzA! Great suggestion, thanks for sharing your feedback. I've moved it into a similar request.  A lot of users are asking for this option, I hope we receive updates soon.

Like basically everyone on here I bought this expecting that it would be great to go on a run, ride or whatever with some headphones and be able to listen to music. (Ambitiously I also had plans to get some waterproof buds and surf with it) but none of these things can be done because you need your phone or WiFi to operate Spotify. It is basically an extra control on your wrist.

I like the other features of the watch but this is about 50% of why I got it. And your advertising is 100% of the reason why everyone thought this would work.

Hi all. I've recently noticed that I get an email about comments on this forum.

This is a reminder for all of us not to give up and to make more comments about the issue. Those who have already had their say please come back and review the progress (or lack thereof) and let Fitbit know what you think.

Having the ability to control Spotify on my phone means I still have to take my phone with me. The whole point of music on my FitBit is so I don't have to take my phone. Please add this feature, especially because you heavily imply on the Versa 2 website that the device "has" Spotify, when really it does not in fact have Spotify, it simply has a basic remote control.

Would be awesome if you added this! I am very interested in buying a Versa 2 over the Galaxy Watch but having Spotify Offline support is crucial for me...

This is a must on a running watch...

Fitbit! Don’t you see by this forum alone how many customers you could be potentially losing by not offering offline listening? Adding the Spotify app to the Fitbit as just a way to control music is pointless...this can already be done if you choose the option to control your music while holding in the left side button. This forum has been reviewed by a mod, but obviously needs to be looked at again. Do you want a suggestion to improve your products? This is it.

@YojanaFitbit I see you said you moved the request but that link takes me directly back to this thread. What is going on? Maybe this thread is not getting the upvotes it deserves because the title is unclear? Or because the status is set to "reviewed by moderator"? It doesn't make sense that this same issue in another thread has 11k upvotes and is marked as "solved" when it was never solved.

@Jonowibbs

I posted as a new problem as the previous thread was marked as "solved" and got this reply from @YojanaFitbit

"Hi @GrazzA! Great suggestion, thanks for sharing your feedback. I've moved it into a similar request.  A lot of users are asking for this option, I hope we receive updates soon"

So as you see it goes round in a circle never to be addressed - GRRRRRRRRR!!

I just bought a Fitbit and this is definitely the feature that I miss the most. I just got a three months trial on Deezer for free but once that's past I have no means of listening to music. Please add the ability to download Spotify music as I already have Spotify premium!

In order to connect your Spotify account onto your Fitbit Versa, you need a Spotify Premium account, and part of the what's included in the Spotify Premium subscription is offline listening. The versa series should allow its users to stream Spotify and listen offline straight from the watch.

The spotify app as it currently is on the Ionic and Versa 2 is rather pointless. Please provide offline. Requesting Spotify in the first place you would have thought having offline would have been a given.

Not the brightest team over at Fitbit HQ.

Hi @itbeneesh! Thanks for sharing your suggestion about being able to listen to your Spotify playlists offline from your watch. This great idea was already requested by another user, so I’ve moved your post here. That way we can keep this board organized, in addition to clearly understanding which idea other members are voting for. Don’t forget to click on the thumbs-up to show your support.

@LizzyFitbit what does your comment mean? If I click that link it stays in this thread. I dont get it... Has this issue been moved up to a different thread? Also what's the status of this thread? It seems like the status should be unsolved.

@LizzyFitbit  @YojanaFitbit  @GraceGFitbit  I'd like to draw your attention to the fact that @Giampi71 commented on this  ‎9th Feb a year ago now!!  Why do you say "this is a great idea" and then do nothing about it, the link in your thread just leads us around in circles and means nothing at all - at the very least tell us what is going on and if you are actually doing anything towards letting your customers download from Spotify - I'm not happy

@Jonowibbs I have tried to start a new thread on the subject since this one is marked as resolved, which it clearly is not, that was simply moved to here too :((

Just adding more weight to the topic. Add OFFLINE support to spotify please.

Wow so disappointing and even more disappointing that fitbit wont even respond to the comments anymore - wish I would have searched this more before purchasing.

Very misleading advertisement- there is absolutely no point in having a spotify app just for controls! If you have to have your phone on you anyways completley pointless.

And then having storage for 300 songs - most people dont have mp3s on computers anymore all the music i have is on spotify i pay for a spotify subscription i dont want to pay again to get music just for my watch.

The Alexa feature isnt very great either it's hard to use, takes forever to presses and can only answer extremely basic things - there really is no point in buying the versa 2.

I'll most likely be bringing mine back - I feel like I was lied to.

This is basic! Spotify without this feature is no use!
