Allow Spotify offline on Versa series and Sense

After long time Fitbit released a Spotify app for Ionic/Versa (for now only on Versa 2). See this suggestion now marked as solved.

However this app does not allow to download music for offline listening (for example while working-out).

Hence this new suggestion.

Disappointed that Fitbit is still not giving us more updates on this. It's a needed feature, and it's been almost a year now. Really saddening

I agree! I bought this Fitbit solely for the spotify app. I just wanted to run to music phone-free. So disappointing! I mean what is the purpose of the spotify app on the watch if you need to have your phone nearby? It's a total marketing ploy. The word is getting around. I've had people ask me how I like my Fitbit. I say I dont because of the lame spotify app and they say that's the reason they wouldn't buy one. Dont buy a Fitbit if you are looking to have music streamlined through your watch. You will be over $250 worth of disappointment.

I am basically thinking of switching to Samsung gear, as I use an android.
This, mixed with the terrible software experience, horrible loading times,
and just inconsistency when it comes to software is really unacceptable. I
hate to say it, but I would probably pay $100 max for this, if I were to
buy it today

Instead of only supporting Deezer off line, please can you support Spotify offline?

I love how the original Spotify request is marked as 'released' even though it's not what people wanted.

Who wants a companion app that enables control of music from your phone?

This has been a requested feature since February 2017. How can it take so long?

Just purchased a Fitbit ionic today. I was very excited to be able to leave my phone at home to use GPS and downloaded Spotify music only to realize that Spotify downloading is not supported. Very false advertising in my opinion. I have a 30 days to return the device, and if it isn't updated by then I will get something else.

Please give us offline Spotify playlists that stores music on the device (obviously a Spotify Premium subscription would be needed).

Garmin does it.

You can even buy a Mighty Vibe Spotify music player much more cheaper than the latest Fitbit watches.  That gives you offline Spotify playing without needing your phone (you do need a Spotify Premium subscription).

I use that to listen to music and track all my exercise on my Surge, leaving my phone at home.

It works for me.

I feel nobody at fitbit really cares.

They're busy going through our health data and making plans how to allow google to have the easiest access to it.

Closing the original request means one of two things they either don't listen and don't understand what their users want or simply want to be left alone and not bothered by us.

Either way we will have to live with it until better option is available.

I don't think Fitbit doesn't care. I'm more inclined to believe Spotify has signed some agreement of exclusivity with other brands and therefore it is more a political issue. This is just my view although, indeed some Fitbit official answer (more than " thanks for your suggestion, we rely on your comments....." ) would be appreciate.

I'd definitely stick with Fitbit if they did add Spotify offline functionality. Otherwise I have to look at Garmin.

I'm moving the whole family to Garmin this month. Been a Fitbit user since the original Ultra in 2012 and have had TONS of Fitbits since. But I have seen a general slowness with listening to users' feedback and ability of the team to release features other devices have incorporated for a while. Heck, the Microsoft Band 2 from 5 years ago is more advanced than my Ionic in teams of sensors and abilities.

I just can't see investing anymore time and money into the platform. And with the upcoming Google purchase, I have little confidence Fitbit will not become another throw away product line in Google's history.

any update on this?

I can see on https://www.fitbit.com/eu/sense it says : "Applicable subscriptions required for offline music. Spotify and Deezer not available in all countries."

Does it mean it will come out finally ???

So I bought the FitBit Sense as it has GPS, which means I don't need to take my phone with me on a run....yes at last! - but I just found out that I'll have to run in silence with no music!         WThec!

So I can't add a playlist and listen to music without having my phone with me, you haven't thought that one through have you!   Please, please get this added as a priority! My husband with his Samsung Watch 3 is being very smug indeed!

Thanks

Please do this. The sense is your most expensive product. I was expecting the device to allow me to go phone free with features such as built in GPS and Fitbit pay and on screen workouts . Not being able to simply connect Spotify offline seems like an after thought and a huge shame.

My Ionic is on it's last legs and if you do not incorporate this feature in to your devices soon I will have to move away to a company that has had offline spotify for years.

But was this decision made by Spotify or Fitbit? We may be going after the wrong company

Either way, some openness about it would help. Neither company has given any information about it.

Fitbit are slowly opening up about it on instagram and say that they are continuing to develop on device music offerings and eventually have offline support.

But I don't want to buy another device if there is no known date for this.

I would like the ability to sync offline Spotify playlists to the Versa 3/Sense in exactly the same way you can currently with Deezer.

I'm so glad I searched for this before making my own post. You absolutely have my vote! PLEASE make this an option. I can't even download my personal music from iTunes. I just bought my Fitbit Sense and I am honestly considering returning it for an Apple Watch, because at least then I can download the songs I own from iTunes. I am a competitive runner. I want a watch that can play my music during training without me having to strap my phone to my arm.

Also, I don't want to pay for Pandora when I prefer Spotify. Seeing that Pandora and Deezer are listed and can play tracks offline makes me know it's possible from a technical standpoint to do the same with Spotify. Even if this can't happen for some reason, at least make it so we can download owned music from our personal library.

Hi @SunsetRunner

FYI you can already transfer you own music to your Fitbit from your own personal library to use offline (like Deezer/Pandora).  Please refer to your manual (you have to use a PC - I often use it to transfer podcasts it's simple and you'll soon get the hang of it).
