Be allowed to have both a Fitbit Versa and a Fitbit Ionic on the same account so you can easily switch between them.

Any updates on this...? Also-- as an additional comment, it would be awesome to have two Versa's in the same account too. I bought the Versa for its style and within a couple of weeks, I picked up the Gray SE version to complement my Black Versa. Several bands later, I've found myself swapping bands daily based on my clothing choice. That said, I'd swap between the two Versa's if it was easier to do.

I would love to be able to have both the ionic and versa on the same account so I could switch back and forth between the two.

Just a follow-up from my previous post a couple of months a go (page 2 of this thread).

I was somehow able to install both Versa and Ionic on my account.  It's been a couple of months and I have no problems switching between them.  I just go into the Fitbit app and switch off syncing for one and one for the other.  I have told Fitbit about this on a few occasions.  They were surprised I somehow was able to set this up, but the customer support folks don't seem all that interested, to be honest.  I think if I were able to talk to someone on the dev team, it might be different.

All this is to simply say - have hope!   The scenario we all want does work and that means at LEAST the software and devices are capable.  My guess is they have to work out bugs in all user scenarios before releasing the capability.  There's no business reason not to allow people to purchase and have multiple devices installed at the same time.  We just need to continue to make noise on this and keep this at the top of the feature requests.

This has been posted starting the first day people took delivery, about 2
months ago now. For those of us who pre ordered... we had no idea but you
should have checked before ordering, it is widely known now. I have been
screaming about this for 2 months... Fitbit simply doesn’t care. They are
WELL aware that it is a horrific failure by them.

Yep; they obviously don’t care.

However they are happy and promoting that they sold over 1 million Versa and can care less about their loyal clients that paid $299 for the Ionic and can’t use it now once they purchased the Versa!

Glad I saw this.I put my vote in for this feature.  I was about to give the Ionic another chance after recently getting my Versa which has been great. I will hold off on that for now.  It does seem perplexing that you can't have both trackers on the account.

Currently I have synced a Charge 2 and a Versa to the same app. Because I enjoy wearing a variety of watches I recently purchased a second Versa. I learned today I must set up a second app for the second. Wess and the two apps won’t communicate. Bummer...

This is the one and only reason I have not ordered a Versa. I was about to purchase one to go with my Ionic, Charge 2 and Flex 2, but when I found it couldn't be interchanged with my Ionic I didn't go ahead. Really disappointing.

Frustrating indeed in not able to have the Ionic and Versa on the same account.

Solve this quickly, Fitbit development team!

I'm just finding out about this issue now after finding out that I cannot have two versa devices connected at the same time.  I wish I had known this before ordering my second Versa.

FitBit!  Please fix!

I have a scratched up rock climbing/camping Charge 2 and a nice new work Charge 2. I have to do a new device setup every time I switch out.  Why?

I'd like to be able to have two Versas on my account to switch between colors, etc.  Please consider this as an option.

This seems like a major oversight given that the Ionic and the Blaze are able to function on the same account and the Versa is the replacement for the Blaze.

This is ridiculous and needs to be fixed YESTERDAY.

I've been using multiple devices on my account forever.

First I had a first gen Charge HR and a Surge.  I would use the Charge HR when not exercising, and switch to the more capable Surge when  working out.

When my Charge HR died, I replaced it with a Blaze.   I've been using my Blaze - Surge combo for a couple of years now and it has been fantastic.

I recently bought an Ionic to replace my aging surge.  For a couple of weeks the Blaze has been my every day watch, and the Ionic has been my exercise watch.   I decided I wanted to upgrade the Blaze and replace it with a Versa, and now after buying it and trying to set it up, I find out this doesn't work?

I sure hope I can return the Versa to Amazon....

Or if we can get status updates on when this will be fixed, maybe I won't have to return it.

Well, I decided to return the Versa Special edition.    It's on its way back to Amazon.   I'll keep an eye on this thread.   If the problem gets fixed, then maybe I'll buy one again, but until then I'm back to my Blaze-Ionic combo.

It's a shame.  I really liked the Versa.

It's kind of ridiculous that this has been going on since the Versa was launched, and there is no public statement from Fitbit.

Good companies are transparent.   As soon as the issue was raised, there should have been a customer representative handling the issue, and telling us what is going on, if they indeed plan on fixing this issue, and if so, what the timeline is.   If I had had this type of communication, I wouldn't have felt forced to immediately return my Versa as mentioned above.

When companies are silent and opaque, it shows that they don't care about their customers.

I have a Versa and I bought an Ionic to use while walking. Versa is very good looking, good device and as yet the most comfotable for my wrist, but I was missing the GPS tracker. I bought an Ionic to track my workouts and I was planning to keep using my Versa everywhere else. But because I cannot use these on the same account at the same time, I will have to return the Ionic, since Ionic is way too big for my very small wrist.

@Nnebr: That is one of the reasons I returned my Ionic and am a happy camper with a Garmin Vivoactive 3, Fenix 5 (there is 5s for women) and Vivosmart now. It is ridiculous that this is still an issue. I am still following some of the Fitbit topics here to see what changes. And I can say that nothing changes here. Still the same missing basic features as in February/March. When I had my Ionic for some time. Fitbit just doesn't care about their customers. They never have and they never will. Churning out subpar products and don't even mind that people are unhappy as long as the cash comes in. I think there is a reason they are not doing so well ROI-wise

mattlach

@mrmarbury. I also returned mine as soon as I found out.  Fitbit has already been silent on this issue for months.   I didn't want to risk being stuck with something I couldn't use after my retail return period was up.

I wouldn't even consider going to Garmin though.  A 2017 Stanford study showed that all fitness trackers are pretty bad at predicting calories spent, but Fitbits trackers were by far the most accurate, even so they were off as much as 20% for some people.    I burn about 4000 calories a day.   20% is an 800 calorie error.

That's bad enough as it is.   I couldn't risk being even worse by going to Garmin.

So, it seems I'm stuck with Fitbit.    But that doesn't mean I have to keep buying their latest models, especially if they aren't even going to have the common courtesy to give us an official response as to what is going on...

They are completely failing at customer service with this joke of a suggestions section we have no idea if anyone is actually reading or not, and hapless phone customer service who have no answers.

Typing this on my phone so there may be weird autocorrection errors. Sorry for that

I am pretty happy with my Fenix 5. But I know about calorie inaccuracies so I don't give too much about the values the devices present me with. But I know the paper. They have tested 7 watches. But none of them was a Garmin. The Fitbit tested was the surge. And for me Garmin is way more accurate than the Ionic. With the Ionic I often had around 5000 kcal/day which is total BS. My buddy who is a fitness economist has a baseline of 5000. Even on slow days without sports I never got below 3000 with the Ionic and wondered how I was even remotely able to get my daily goal of 3200. My baseline is around 2000. So my avg with sports and walking to work is around 3-3.5k. WITh the Garmin I average out at around 2000 on a day where I do no sports. And getting to my goal is way harder here so if it is inaccurate I at least work harder. So it fits.

The Fenix 5 is comparable to the calorie tables you can find around the interwebs for me. Today I was swimming for 55 minutes for example. Tables say that 1h of swimming will burn around 350. The F5 said that I have burned 326. Which is pretty accurate when compared to the list. Checking forums it varies alot. For some it overshoots. Others say that bodyweight development predictions due to consumed/burned calories are accurate to up to 0.5lb. I take calories as a guideline but not an absolute value. After all fitness trackers are mere toys IMHO. People have lost weight long before those toys. And I have been training for years now without ever seeing my fitness data. The things that are really of value for me are things like Ground Contact Balance, aerobic/anerobic factors and maybe Power and HR. HR is pretty accurate with the watchwalone. But when doing sports I use a chest strap with the Garmin anyway. GCB is important because of imbalances I got while healing a ruptured muscle and I still tend to put more weight on one foot. Most of the time I just need a working no nonsense smart watch that as a byproduct counts my steps.

In the end I don't know how accurate calories are for me. I see my gains from a training and use this data to get long term averages. Garmin just works as expected. Very low annoyance factor. Fitbit just freaked me out constantly.

It's more expensive, yes. But it's a mature product IMHO. The Ionic feels at least 30% too expensive for what it really is. A beta product.

... found this link(*) that also talks about the Stanford test. And while they didn't test a Garmin the author tested his Fenix 5s and came to the conclusion that it is off from the MET by "only" 18% which is 9% better than the best tested FB which came in at around 27% inaccuracy. So maybe you should consider a Garmin after all? Since all newer Garmins have the "elevate HR" sensor and the same OS they should show the same results

Interesting.

Will have to do more research.   I could have sworn the study had all the current major players on the market in it.   My memory must be failing me.

Doesn’t make Any sense at all. Why can’t we have two ionics on our account? Be happy we purchased both of them. I don’t want a smaller watch. I want to rock one ionic during the day and one for working out! #getittogetherfitbit
