Hi everyone thanks for sharing this suggestion. This is being discussed although I do not have a firm commitment or timeline at the moment. Do continue to vote for this feature suggestion whilst it’s under consideration. Please note that if something is under consideration and chosen for development, it can be a while until it's released or until I have any news to share. Please watch this space for any updates! Thanks for your patience.
Firstly thank you for finally responding to the many requests and comments on this subject.
Being a long time Fitbit user I have persisted an have kept my VERSA on many occasions to be honest I have considered returning and or making an official complaint to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, but I have held off desperately hoping to see some acceptable response from Fitbit. Please keep on it and again thanks for your efforts to extract the commitment you have in hand.
In the meantime I would recommend you modify the advertising for both VERSA and IONIC so as not reflect it is EASY and QUICK to swap between the two this is simply NOT TRUE and this is doing Fitbit no favours.
I do swap between the tow from time to time but no where as often as I would like simply because it takes so long to get the setup you like, example the (Exercise Shortcuts are always re to default!) and any apps I use need attention to get then working again, this process can take between 15 minutes to half an hour!
Well trying to remain positive, please keep on it.
While I (and probably many others) struggle a little bit with the concept of this being a "suggestion" (it really ought to be filed as a defect, or bug, and one of rather high severity, as it breaks with the expectation of how Fitbit devices should function) it is good to at least know that there actually is someone on the other side looking at these.
To echo Matt, with today's technology, I don't see how this is even something that should require a "suggestion."
I purchased two Versas specifically to wear one for workouts and lake activities and the other for work (complete with a metal band). Not only is it not desirable to switch between the two on one account, the bands aren't something I want to have to continually swap. Thus, I've set each tracker to a different fitbit account.
My company often runs wellness/fitness competitions and will only sync one fitbit account per employee. So, I either have to manually record my workout, or manually record the steps I take at work to reflect all daily activity - very frustrating!!
I have 2 ionics, different colors and i just bought the vera. I to would like to be able to have all these devices linked to my account. It takes at least half an hour to switch from one device to another the way it's set up now which is absolutely ridiculous.
I recently migrated over to the Fitbit ecosystem from Samsung Health and Apple. The inability to pair both the Versa and Ionic to the same account doesn't make sense in 2018. It's just a simple bluetooth connection. I currently have the Ionic and use it for workouts, but it isn't necessarily the best to use for more professional settings, which is why I just purchased the Versa. This should have been made clearly evident in marketing for both devices. I will be returning my Versa specifically for this issue and will re-examine going back to the Samsung Health ecosystem, as I can pair both my Gearfit 2 Pro and Gear S3 to the same account.
I love the Fitbit ecosystem, but this just seems like a pretty easy fix that is being overlooked, even after constant user requests.
I did the same. I got my versa the day they came out in Feb or March and we have been **ahem**ing about this since day 1. They don’t care. They won’t even respond anymore to our requests asking for a proposed date when this will be possible. Fitbit support doesn’t respond. Nothing. -- Sent from Gmail Mobile
I wanted the same as well. Have the Ionic to workout and got the Versa to wear all day. Returned the Versa and now have switched to S Health and got the Gear Sport watch. It is unfortunate that I really wanted to stay with Fitbit but had to go elsewhere. They don't seem to care about loyal customers who have bought so many of their fitbits. I have a drawer full. More recently, my Ionic stopped getting notifications and the gps was way off and inconsistent. So, at this point I just wanted a product that works and allows me to use it for what I need it for.
I made the initial investment to Fitbit because of the well-established fitness ecosystem. This type of issue is something that new companies are dealing with, not established ones. It's such a simple issue, that this feels more like a company dismissing loyal customers just because they are large enough to know that many are too invested in the ecosystem to leave.
Now with partner apps, people can still use the dashboard and no longer buy Fitbit products. I used it with my Samsung and Apple wearables, but thought I would get more support from Fitbit. This def. not the case so far.
It just has not complained enough. here are 99 comments, of which 2 are from a moderator.Since a company like Fitbit is not yet active.if 10000 will complain here something will happen. that's just how it is in business.
I’m so disappointed to learn that it’s not possible to have both an Ionic and a Versa on the same account simultaneously. I am a daily Ionic user, and was seriously considering getting a Versa until reading this. I would love to be able to switch back and forth as it appears is possible with all of your other devices, but if that isn’t the case, I will likely forego the Versa and look elsewhere. Thanks for your consideration!
This hasn’t been an issue with other Fitbit devices. I own both an ionic and a versa, and had ordered. Second versa, so I could change colors as appropriate. I cancelled the second versa.
On previous devices they were allowed on a single account. Fitbit decided to screw customers that were spending $1000 on their devices. The ridiculous answer from support was to uninstall and reinstall each device when I wanted it. No, not acceptable for me to spend an hour everyday “switching”. I have asked, begged, pleaded on the phone and in email to please fix this and nothing,
nada, crickets. You won’t even respond any more. I have bought fitbits for w erroné I care for, about 30 devices. I am done, and will no longer give these as gifts. The new Apple Watch is released in a few weeks. I will never, ever, speak well of Fitbit again. Apple WANTS me to own 5 laptops, 3 watches, 3 phones, an iPad and 4 iPods. They connect, to one single account. Crazy right?
It has been extremely frustrating; Fitbit came out with a fabulous new product the Versa and will not allow their loyal clients to add it to their account without removing the the Versa that cost $299 6 months earlier;
Monitoring this forum, many loyal Fitbit customers have returned their new Versa or cancelled their order when learning about this limitation.
However as you noted, months have passed and Fitbit has been silent as to the reason for this limitation or whether they are working on a viable solution. Removing and re-adding the Ionic & Versa back and forth and starting from scratch is not a reasonable solution to this problem.
I want the Versa to wear during the day and the Ionic when I go running since it has a GPS. I had my Flex 2, Charge 2 and Versa all syncing and would switch between them. I sold my Flex 2 and Charge 2 and bought the Ionic thinking I could swap between the Versa and Ionic as well. This is a major deal for how I want to use the devices. I had thought about trying other manufacturer's devices and this might force me too...
Completely agree. The lack of réponse tells Me that they don’t care. The new Apple Watch is going to be great! There is a reason Fitbit stock is in the crapper. Poor planning and even worse customer care. I am just sorry I have bought a dozen products from them. -- Sent from Gmail Mobile
I agree 100%; the fact that Fitbit has been silent to this problem for months has me evaluating as well whether I should stay with them. I returned my Versa because I already paid $299 for the Ionic.
I do not understand why 6 months later there is no resolution and no communication from Fitbit. Fitbit needs to upfront and honest with loyal customers about the issue where you CANNOT have both an IONIC and VERSA on the same account. Lastly, Fitbit needs to solve this issue as soon as possible.
I have an issue. I have had multiple Fitbits in the past and have been able to sync and add them all to my app. However, I just purchased both an Ionic and a Versa. I can't add both of them? This wasn't even in my forefront of my thoughts because I have never had issues in the past. Now I have to do either or? I have made two significant purchases and am a little flabbergasted. Please deliver this information to the makers and your tech team. I can't imagine they really can't find a solution. It's aggravating, and I wish had known before.
I have been a loyal customer of Fitbit for three years because of the service and products; I have advocated Fitbit to everyone and am stumped that I am having issues with the two new watches I have so desperately wanted and now I can't use both of them. It's BS- mostly because I am under the illusion that since every other product I have purchased I could link to the same account.
Hello @Ccbabydoll19 ! Thanks for sharing this suggestion, I moved it to this similar post so you can add your vote to it. Please keep sharing your ideas with us!
Just got a second Ionic and just found out that i cant have them both into the same account. This is not a limitation on Samsung Gear or Android Wear, I could have as many watches as i want and wear the one i wanted when i wanted always syncing to the same account. Fitbit should Allow the same.
While you can have a fitbit Blaze, Ionic, Charge 2 and Flex 2 under the same account; you can't have the Ionic, Versa and Charge 3 under the same account.
Why you want this? Because you don't want to miss your steps while using the power of these 3 latest devices, which are also water proof.
From the point of view of Business, Fitbit is losing of selling more fitbit gear for some of the clients that will like this option to be taken into account.
