Allow multiple devices on the same account (Sense/Versa series, Inspire, Charge & Luxe)

Be allowed to have both a Fitbit Versa and a Fitbit Ionic on the same account so you can easily switch between them.

Well, it’s coming up on two years since I first posted here after finding out about this issue and well no progress. i would say I’m disappointed but that would suggest there was a time when I expected Fitbit would take heed and implement this oversight.

Worse still my younger sister was considering replacing her Versa and the Fitbit area in the local store (which has been updated for the current models) still lists the Charge 4 as a tracker and makes no mention of the limit to 1 Fitbit OS  device per account. I could accept in the early days of Fitbit OS that they overlooked this and people like myself got caught out but to still not indicate this in store is basic deception in my book.

I have been a longtime Fitbit user (6 years +) and introduced about a dozen family, friends and colleagues to Fitbit but I’ve found myself unwilling to recommend them any more. Personally, I have decided to continue as is for now, but will not be replacing my current crop of three devices and once enough of them have stopped working, I will weigh up my options.

I did a check-in on a number of the people I knew who had Fitbit and the bulk have l left the platform for Garmin, AppleWatch or Whoop. They all seem happy with their new choice so I guess I can look forward to greener pastures when I do end up jumping.

Seriously?  You can have a Surge and a Versa on the same account at the same time?  Is this true?  If so, I may just treat myself to a Surge as an after-holidays gift.  But not if I have to disconnect my Versa to do it.  I also keep three of the older legacy trackers on my account (charge2, altaHR and Blaze), all of which I'd very much like to keep on my account as well.  So can someone please verify this for me - can I really add a Surge without having to remove my Versa or my 3 legacy trackers?  THANKS COMMUNITY!

30 min later - Sorry - got confused.  Was thinking the new Sense model, not the Surge.  Assuming a Sense cannot be on an account with other "smart" trackers, right.

Yes, the Surge will work with the newer Fitness tracers (Ionic and later).
However, if you want to have two of the newer trackers, you have to remove
one from the account and add another. When switching back, all the
settings are lost and you have to start over with setting it up the way you
want. Yes, it can be done, but it is highly inefficient.

As mentioned, the Surge and Charge 2 will work. Wait until your Surge dies
like mine did and I replaced it with a Charge 4. The Charge 4 can not be
on the account at the same time as my Versa.

Other systems allow the use of multiple devices without having to remove
any of them from your account and re-set them up when switching again. I
agree Fitbit is superior to Apple for fitness trackers. However, Garmin
has approximately equal capabilities and they have no restrictions on how
many devices can be on the account.

Larry, I wouldn’t have thought that a Sense will work with a Versa, but I don’t have one to try.  The Sense is quite expensive in the UK so after owning a Charge, Charge HR, Surge, Blaze, Ionic, Versa and finally a Charge 2 I can’t see myself buying one anytime soon.  I only use the Ionic by day and Charge 2 by night, the Surge when sailing sometimes and the rest sit in the drawer.

I can confirm that a Sense and Surge will work together, but that the Surge and the Charge 2 are the last devices that Fitbit produced that have key functionality and don't use "the ap gallery." So trying to connect any two devices that have been released in the last 2 years will not work. That includes the (newest) Sense with anything. @LarryInSeattle - I hope that answers your question, but it looks like you answered it yourself.

If it's of any help to anyone, I've taken the suggestion of starting to write honest reviews on Amazon, Costco, etc. I've also found and emailed members of the company's leadership to try to help give honest feedback and advance this issue. And now, back to the store to return my Sense.

I have a Versa 2 and recently purchased the new Sense thinking I could switch back and forth.  This would have been great because I usually charge at night and don't want to fall asleep without wearing my Fitbit for sleep tracking.  Sadly, after trying to set it up I found this issue and was told today it is basically a software problem because the later devices use the app gallery and have "difficulty determining the data for which device to register."  My Versa 2 became a very expensive nightstand ornament. 😞  Today I decided it isn't worth keeping the Sense and the Versa, so I prepped the Sense for return.  I'll stick with the Versa 2 and my Charge 2 (since both can be connected at the same time) until this issue is resolved.

Good luck with getting a positive response.  This has been a problem for years - I think since Fitbit and Google were supposedly combined.  Fortunately, I only have one of the app ones and just refuse to buy anything new.  If you read the thread there is a "this is under consideration" pat response but nothing ever happens.  Fitbit has lost customers over this but they don't seem to care.  It's just release another device and forget about support.

@JeanC1 Wow!  I can't believe Fitbit doesn't care about this... It's hard to imagine I'm the only person returning a $300 Fitbit over it.  I have turned most of my family on to these products as well as a few friends... when I get tired of my Charge 2 as my back up and can't replace it with something like the Versa 2 or Sense... I think I'll part ways with Fitbit and take my family and probably friends with me.  I have purchased 4 Fitbits this year between my family and me.  I'm done.  Thanks for the info.

I returned my second device and did not renew premium, solely due to being unable to swap out. I have talked to a few people intending on fitbit but going with garmin and apple now instead.

They do not want to have any customer retention.

I was just about to purchase another Fitbit. About my 5th in ten years starting with the One.

I currently have a Charge 4 which I really like and can get an Inspire 2 as part of my insurance plan.

I want to interchange them for swimming (save that Charge 4 just in case) but also would love to have one to wear while the other charges.

How hard can it be to add this to the app?

Probably just get the Garmin to compare.

It can’t be done without removing the Charge 4 from your account every time you want to use it. Then, to get the Charge 4 back, the other device has to be removed. Garmin is probably the way to go.

Support for Multiple Versa's is a necessary feature if the company would like their users to buy more product.  From a practical user standpoint I have 2 Versa's, a lite which I use when working oudoors and on cars etc. and a Versa 2 which I use for less rugged situations primarly to keep one of my versa's from getting beat up. To make this somewhat functional I have to maintain 2 seperate accounts.  It would be aa lot better if the data automerged.  The programing should be relatively easy.

I have just switched to Garmin because of this.  I loved Fitbit but I believe that it's time to move on.  This has  been an issue for years and there is still  no resolution to this in sight.  The Garmin app is just as good I just wish it had an interface with Google fit.

I work in construction and with horses and in order to protect my Sense from dirt and chemicals while working I have to remove it entirely or wrap it which is cumbersome. All activities are worth tracking though. My old Versa, Blaze, or Inspire 2 that was gifted to me aren't options to toggle between activities any longer without two accounts.

I came here for the same reason.  I wanted to be able to easily switch to an Inspire 2 when I want to wear a different watch (I have a watch collection).  And now I see that NONE of the current devices can be paired together.  So, I might return the Sense and keep the Inspire 2 since I can more easily wear it different ways.

Hi @ErikaV, thanks for explaining why you would like to have the option to connect multiple devices on the same account. I've moved it into a similar suggestion which has been updated as "Under Consideration". I hope to see you around.

Embarrasing answers. Stop doing features that don't have any value such as
skin temperature, and solve this Buuuuug!

After a month of frustration switching from one account to a second account created for my newest Fitbit, I solved the problem:

I'M RETURNINGTHE NEW FITBIT! And unless Google solves this issue, I won't purchase another. I'm done.

Six years of the joke of "under consideration"

I returned my fitbit and wouldn't waste any more money or energy on a company which obviously does not care about customer retention!

Totally agree.  I am moving to Gamin.  I am using Stravia and Health Sync to coordinate my data with Google fit.  Using Google fit I am able to sync my Garmin and fitbit data into Google fit.  This is allowing me to use two different devices (one fitbit and one Garmin).  It not perfect but I am still refining how the data is syncing.  Also using Health Sync I am able to push data into my fitbit account.  The heart rate in to fitbit app data is a little squirrelly.

Another Fitbit Community thread I've been following has been requesting an app fix FOR YEARS, and only gotten those standard "under consideration" responses has now actually been RESOLVED!  Yes, shocking I know...but it's actually been fixed.

The issue was that in the iOS app (wasn't a problem with Android) some the standard Fitbit-generated responses in the challenges (goal day, etc) were limited to only one line of text - it would just truncate the rest of the response - so you'd see things like "That step goal was no match for...." and cut it off there so you'd never know who you'd be cheering for.  Here's a link to the thread if anyone's interested - they're really popping the champagne corks over there since the fix came in: https://community.fitbit.com/t5/iOS-App/Can-t-see-all-text-in-challenges/td-p/3847164.

Wondering if just maybe maybe maybe the new Google bosses at Fitbit are stepping up to the plate!  Maybe we have some reason to hope it happens with the"multiple trackers on the same account" issue now that there's a new sheriff in town.  Fingers crossed!
