As seen in the earlier post, Fitbit announced on Monday 23 March that multi-device tracking will be available "this week". Great - only a few days to go now - or will this be yet another example of a broken promise from Fitbit?

I am very pleased to announce that Multi-Tracker Support is now available. For more information on how it works and directions to start, please check out this Fitbit Blog post on Multi-Tracker Support.

I've set up and am ready to go. Will give a good test this weekend.
Well done Fitbit team.
Assuming it works, I may now consider adding a Surge to give me a really flexible range of options.

I have two trackers of different colours. I bought the second since I read you can do multiple devices now. Much to my demise there is a caveat - they must be different devices. Yes, they now allow multiple devices, but not multiple of the same device. Why would fitbit implement such a restriction? This make no sense.

The Charge HD is great for keeping track of heart rate and additiona information.  However it is not waterproof and cannot track activities in water.  For a swimmer this is half of my overall workout activity.

It would be nice to be able to ware the Flex during swims and be able to add that information to my account.

@Thand Fitbit has already added that capability. You can read their announcement about it.

Im a personal trainer and am looking to sync up multiple Fitbits to my ipad so I can monitor my clients Heart Rate during exercise.
Any thoughts on adding this feature?

Agree 100%.....should be able to synch two of the same fitbits [two Charge HRs], not just limited to different versions.   Hoping FitBit will work on that, too.....please!

More than one tracker can now be linked to a single account but they have to be different devices 😞 It would be really good if they could remove this limitation!

I have been given a second fitbit flex and was excited because I could charge them alternately and never miss a step! But I was dissapointed to find out this isn't possible though 😞

For those who want this extended to support two of the same tracker I have created a new suggestion:

Please consider the ability of having a second FitBit Device on the same account that is the same type. I purchased a second Flex so I can always have one charged up only to find out it is not allowed. I have to get a different device in order to do this.

Right now, this is a lost sale since I will be returning my second Flex.

It would be great if the Fitbit app would let me track mileage of up to 2 pairs of running shoes. An old app I had for running did that and it really helped my running by monitoring the service life of my shoes.
Thanks, Brian

I previously had a Fitbit charge and a charge HR and loved that they both synced on my account. When my charge died I purchased a new HR as I like being able to switch between two FitBits, so you can only imagine my disappointment when I found you can only have one of a particular model. I've now got a Fitbit that I don't know what to do with and I find it strange that you can have different models on the same account, but not two of the same model. IT DOESNT MAKE SENSE!!! Please fix this!!

I would also like to be able to link more than one of the same device to a single account.  I could then switch between a newer one and an older one depending on whether my day's activities were in the office (where there would be minimal wear and tear on the unit) or at home working on the yard (where I would wear a unit that I would not mind if it got dirty or slighly damaged).

I have a charge hr and like the device. Mine is getting a bit worn and wanted to by a second, but found out you can't have 2 of the same device attached to the same account.

I think we should beable to have 2 of the same model devices linked to 1 account.  That would be great for people that need a certain device due to health reasons.

I started with a zip. For my birthday I got the chargeHR. I gave my zip to my 8 yo daughter who's been begging to track her steps. I can't track them throughout the week unless, I set her up an account and create an email for her. I feel like that is a little exessive... so ideally it would be nice to track the steps seprately within the same dashboard.

I would like the ability to track the chargeHR and the zip steps seprately.

@jennylynn_S Your best bet is to create a different email/account for the Zip and then friend your main account, so you can at least see the 7-day step account for your daughter on your dashboard. (I can't see Fitbit make the dashboard track two Fitbits separately on one account.)

It would be nice to have a Family dashboard/tile and parental controls, but those are different requests.

One of the hole dividers on the wristband of my first SURGE broke. Thus doubling the size of the hole. Naturally, it no longer fit snugly on my wrist. I was missing a lot of steps. My heartbeat was off. Lots of problems in general. So, I asked how to fix this. FITBIT sent me a new SURGE!! How cool is that?!

My classic SURGE still works for logging sleep. I think it would be great to be able to link both SURGEs to my account. That way, I can wear one during the day and one at night. This would ensure that one was charging at all times.

YES!!!! this is my biggest gripe with fitbit. I want to be able to interchange my charge HR's especially now that i own all of the colors! I hate that i have to remove the old device each time and activate a new one. This makes you have to do all of the other processes over as well such as clock screen, customizing my dash etc. I often go back and forth between my polar products and fitbit, but overall love fitbit! Polar lets you sync more than one of the same device with no issues on their app. I have two A300's and two M400's all synced with them. I love that you finally made it so all my devices are synced, but this upgrade would be even better. The battery life on the charge HR's stinks and I often have to take it off and use another device. It would also be nice if when you sync and switch to say your one or surge if it didn't take away any steps or calories in the process! This happens often too! one day it took over 1000 of my calories away, but synced the steps properly. So frustrating, especially if you do challenges all of the time like i do (which is the main reason I use my fitbit's more than polar in the first place).

I own all four of the colors in the charge HR, a one and a surge. I love that you finally made it possible to sync multiple devices, but wish you could make it possible to sync more than one of the same model as well! The battery life on all devices except the one SUCKS and it's nice to be able to slap another one on while one is charging or to just simply pick a different color without having to remove the current device and activate a new one each time! It stinks to have to reorganize your watch face and customize the settings over and over. Polar has already made this possible. I have two A300's and two M400's that all sync up with no problems. I prefer fitbit overall with the 24 hour heart rate monitoring and better sleep data though. I love doing the challenges with my friends too. Another thing that would be an overall winner would be to make these waterproof!!!! I know thats not a huge shocker, but it would be nice. Another issue with the multiple syncing that I encounter each time is that it will remove at least 100 steps each time or calories. One time when syncing up with my surge to my one it deleted over 2000 of my daily calories! So frustrating. Isn't the whole idea of syncing them is to SYNC? Please fix these. I LOVE YOU FITBIT!!!!!!!
