Allow night shift reminders to move (or customized hours)

Please allow night shift hours to be selected for reminders to move. I work 7p to 7a at the hospital and the current feature only allows half of my shift to be selected. It doesn't recognize those 12 hours as consecutive hours. It would also be helpful to select different time frames for different days. I work nights 3 days a week, but the rest of the week I am awake and active during the day. I'd like to customize the reminders for certain hours on specified days.

My name is ashley and i have a Charge 2. My problem is i work night shift. 13+hrs 630pm to 730am although i enjoy the "get up and move feature" i am disappointed in the fact that I am unable to set the time frame that is most beneficial to my work schedule. I work at a hospital with several other nurses who have this same inconvenience. Is there anyway y'all can do an update that would allow us to be able to use this feature in a way that suits us? I know of a lot of night shifters faced with this same problem. Thank you.

Hello @CooperKrista your suggestion as stated is a little confusing I think you might be requesting one or more of the following suggestions.

Time of day reset

Allow nightshift reminders to move

I’m not sure why my suggestion is confusing? I am a night shift nurse that works 8pm-8am. I get up at 6pm to go to work. I am not even half way through my “day” when my steps reset. Thanks for showing me that other people are having the same problem. Maybe one day Fitbit will change it!

You've requested two seperste suggestions. Both of which have already been suggested. That is why the forces search is performed.. So that suggestions are not duplicated causing votes to be split or the count starting back at one.

Only one suggestion per post is requested so that it is clear as to what is being voted on.

Hello, I have a fitbit flex 2. Currently on your app it will only let you choose certain hours for the reminders to take 250+ steps per hour. My work schedule changes from time to time and I currently work from 10 pm central to 7 am central and it won't let me choose those hours. If you guys could please put the option in a next update for us graveyard shift people that would be the greatest

I work graveyard shift, 12 to 16 hours. It would be really helpful if I could set reminders overnight! Or at least set multiple reminder times!

Surely, I am not the only fitbit user who is active at night?  I have a job that requires me to work nights. My problem is the Reminders to move 250 steps.  It does not support past midnight. I want the hours 2200-0700.  This does not work. Thus, I either need fitbit to support movement reminders to work past midnight or I need 2 time periods during the day to be active. then I can set it from 2200-0000 and then 0000-0700.

I'm a little surprised that this has not been mentioned before.

It has been mentioned before. Many times. There is already a feature suggestion for this and you may wish to add your vote to that:

Hello, I just recently got my Fitbit charge 2, and while I like most of what I've experienced, there is one thing that is annoying. I work third shift, so from 900 to 1700, I'm sleeping. This means that it seems like I'm not active, when in reality I'm just active at night. Id like to do the 250 steps an hour but with the current set up I can't really do it and have it be accurate. Thanks in advance for all you do to improve.

I work mostly a late evening shift (15:00-03:00), and I don't feel that Fitbit is supporting us who do this.  For years I've enjoyed the product, but I purchased a versa after a year of not using my old one only to find we still cannot set night shift schedules.

We get that all of you at Fitbit seem to on a lovely day schedule, but you can't leave out a ton of us.  You already let us pick the beginning of the week, why can't I track calories burned to and from 06:00? My step goal to and from 06:00? My food (which I am eating during night shift) to and from 06:00. Let US pick when our day begins and ends.  I also can't get reminders for the last 6 hours of the day to move because of how the clock works on this tool. (15:00-03:00 is less than 14 hours yet is invalid).

I understand from a programming standpoint, you guys likely tied so many tracking stats to the real calendar, but people like me don't end our Mondays until 06:00 or later in the morning (my wife's day is 07:00 to 07:30 or later. She finds it very hard to track info correctly).

Please, please, please work on this!

Right now , the Fitbit "Hour Activity Tracker" is based on a set times, although these set times are modifiable. Thus, we can set it from 7 am to 2 PM as an example. However, if we miss one hour, such as sleeping in, it becomes very unmotivational.

My suggestion is that the tracker allow for  between 7-10 hours. However, we can satisfy it by walking during any of those hours during the day and not necessarily at set times. Thus, if we walk from 7-12 each hour and then from 2-4, for example, we would meet the goal if we set it for 9 hours.  There is no reason to have set times such as from 7 Am to 3 PM etc. Please consider changing this.

Allow the active hours and move reminders to be set for overnight hours so that night shift works can utilize the program. For example: allow the hours to start at 6pm and go until 6am so that we can use more than just a few continuous hours like we do now. I miss out on a lot of waking stats because the hours stop at midnight or start at mignight and my day is only half over by that time.

Thanks!

On top of set goal hours for 250 steps, it would be useful to have a reminder each hour I am awake to move 250 steps to decrease idle time.

i.e. as well as choosing a goal of e.g. 9am-6pm reminders to move, have reminders from when I wake up until when I sleep to move each hour.

I work overnight shifts every other week. Wondering if FitBit can develop a way to setup tracking/reminders for sleeping and ready to move so that one week those items are certain times and week two they are different? Example week 1 - sleep reminder set for 11 pm to 7 am for a week; week 2 - sleep reminder set for 7 am to 2 pm. Love ALL the reminders but don’t always remember to change them for my schedules...would be nice not to have to.

Thanks!!

I am a working individual who works graveyards. My shift is from 7 pm to 6 am and I am trying to set my motivational goal from 7 pm to 6 am but the watch will not allow me to do this. I understand that most people are asleep at night but there are folks who are not. Can this modification be made by IT in order for those of us who are wide awake and working at night to be allowed to use this feature? The way it stands currently I cannot set any motivation after midnight..... as it goes by each day. Or in minimum allow two settings so one from 7 pm to midnight and another from midnight to 6 am if I cannot have just one from 7 pm to 6 am? This would be for the 250 step per hour motivation setting. Graveyard people need motivation too ha ha!

See what you can do, I would love it if I could use my fitbit to motivate me as well. This is for a Versa

Thank you

Does anyone else wear their Fitbit to work-at night from 7pm-7am. I’d like to set my watch for this feature. But it doesn’t seem to work. How are you “working around this”. Yes, a work around!! It would keep me moving as things quieted down and encourage me to hourly around, start meds etc.

It would be nice if we were able to set our 'days' past midnight. For instance: I work until 2am, so it would be nice if I could set my day to be from noon to 3am as this is when I am awake and between these times is when I need the reminders to walk. Right now I can only set it till midnight at the latest. I am sure there are many other shift workers who use this product and would find the ability to choose our own day times as an asset.

Reminders to Move should be customizable for those that work shift work and past the hours of midnight and into the morning,

Also, they could be customizable by day so the weeks can be set up for shifts/off days.

I have now requested account deletion as Fitbit discriminates against shift workers by not having the device configurable to the modern way of life for hundreds of thousands of people. I have returned my fitbit as it does not do what I need it to do and fitbit do not care less.

This idea has been around for several years. It's time fitbit pull their finger out of their ****

Many other Fitbit users can probably relate to working the midnight shift. The current window for reminders to move doesn’t give us the opportunity for them during our working hours. Instead of needing to keep it within one day, I think it should be set by the user from and to their desired time. Maybe have each hour as a checkbox where we would check what times we’d like the reminder to move to be set for. This helps those that work midnights and also those that stay up late some nights and still want their reminders.
