I strongly support for this function and I will appreciate add back swipe to right from time screen to control center. For my own opinion every time need to press hard button to exit app is no user friendly
In version 2.0 you can swipe up to open today and swipe down to close it again. This is almost the way I would wish it worked, except swiping from right to left, the way it's done on Android Wear among other wearables.
Navigation in general requires a way to get out of the mode you are in, back to some outer level.
At the moment, the 'back' button on the left of the watch serves that function without a corresponding on-screen swipe gesture.
That's fine if you like pressing buttons, but generally it is possible to navigate using on-screen gestures, with the one exception of a gesture that replicates the function of the 'back' button. Its absence is an anomaly that needs fixing.
I propose you support (say) a diagonal swipe from top right to bottom left for 'back'.
Others have mentioned the additional importance of this gesture: When the watch is being charged, the buttons are inaccessible, and it is very inconvenient to have to remove the phone from the charger just to press a button.
I am a bit surprised that it is seen as 'an interesting idea', as if I have come up with something revolutionarily new. I would have thought in fact that it is pretty obvious.
Hi everyone thanks for sharing this suggestion. This is being discussed although I do not have a firm commitment or timeline at the moment since it would be implemented on a new product. Do continue to vote for this feature suggestion whilst it’s under consideration. Please note that if something is under consideration and chosen for development, it can be a while until it's released or until I have any news to share. Please watch this space for any updates! Thanks for your patience.
@AndreaFitbit You wrote, "This is being discussed although I do not have a firm commitment or timeline at the moment since it would be implemented on a new product.". I read this as the request will not come to the Ionic, but maybe a newer device. Can you please specify, if the feature would be possible on the Ionic, but you're just not sure if it will be released. Thanks.
@Harboe, thank you for your question and sorry for the confusion. This feature won´t be available on Ionic/Versa and it´s under consideration for a future product.
Really need this. I struggle to get the side button to work. It's such an awkward angle to reach to with my opposite hand. A swipe back would make this band perfect.
A choice to go back previous screen without needing to press the left button while inside Fitbit's native app or menu. This could be through a soft button / selection in the menu tree, of a swipe / tap action. This is to minimize the wear and tear of the left button.
Hi @kiat626, thanks for explaining why you would like to have this option. I've moved it into a similar suggestion which has been updated as "Under Consideration". You can learn more about here. Keep adding your suggestions!
With regard to the Versa buttons in general, I NEVER use the buttons on the right side. I never even bother to try to remember what they are for. It does not surprise me at all that the Versa 2 does not have them.
As for the left button, using it is a deviation from using the display that requires tedious contortions as the left button tends to be under the edge of my shirt sleeve. It is not just that the physical button may eventually wear out, it is just the sheer impracticality of using it in apps that, with a little thought by the developers, could in many case have been designed with on-screen 'back' buttons, or for which a lateral swipe could serve the function of returning to the previous screen.
However I do not foresee the physical back button becoming completely redundant. It is important for functions such as using Fitbit Pay or doing a soft reset. (But they are not 'back' functions.)
All the yes!! 😉 I keep trying to swipe left to back out of applications and man is it annoying to need to hit that button just to get back to the time!
On a per-app basis, the situation could be relieved, at least in some apps, if developers would let their apps scroll, and provide a Close or Exit button at the bottom. This would be a way around Fitbit OS developers taking a long time to consider how to integrate such a function into the overall OS UI. It could be notified to 3rd party developers as a suggestion on how to improve user satisfaction with apps, and exemplified by Fitbit doing the same in its own apps.
