Allow us to choose between "Active minutes" or "Active zone minutes"

Please include a data field for real time active minutes, an essential metric you took away to replace with Active Zone Minutes or be able to choose which I want to see. I had to return my Charge 4 because it was missing this info. I just need a field that tells me how many total real minutes in a day I spent in active heart range. I cannot use active zone minutes in the same way.

I completely agree for new Charge 5 as well! Please bring back Active minutes for me. Zone minutes - USELESS!

I would like to see Active Minutes return to Fitbit Charge. I have Charge 5 and do not like zone min. Use Active Minutes for my health.

I'm not interested in counting steps. I am more movement oriented (bike, erg, swim, etc). Step counting is pretty useless to me and presentation of steps is more of an annoyance than a help.

Is there a Movement Minutes mode that can be used to replace the Step Count mode?

Hi @_FitBob_. Thank you for sharing your Feature Suggestion with the Fitbit Community. We aren't sure what you mean by replacing step count. Take in mind that you can change the daily goal to a different stat as you've done so, or remove the step tile from the Fitbit app.

On the other hand, if you'd like to turn off the step tracking on your Fitbit device or you're requesting something different, please reply with more detail or specifics on how this idea would work or what problem this is trying to solve so we can understand this idea better. We look forward to your response.

1) It would be nice to have Active Minutes or Movement as a Daily Goal.  This is currently not an option, please consider adding it.

2) It would be nice to have Movement tracked instead of Steps.  Changing the Daily Goal does not accomplish this.  For example, my Daily Goal may be Calories Burned, but I still want Movement tracked not Steps.  Please enable an option to replace Steps with Movement (or Active Minutes).

I do many exercises that do not involve stepping.  For example: Yoga, Kayaking, Indoor Rower, etc.  Counting Active Minutes makes sense, but counting Steps makes no sense.

3) Removing the Step Tile in the app does not remove the step counter on the fitbit display.  Additionally, removing the Step Tile in the app does not enable Movement or Active Minutes tracking.

I hope this helps clarify.  Thank you for the consideration.

Hi @_FitBob_. Thanks for clarifying your request, as well as the detailed information. Please note that our latest Fitbit devices were optimized to track Active Zone Minutes instead of active minutes. For this reason, the daily stats that you can choose from to set your main goal will vary and depend on your Fitbit device. We understand how important it was for you to track active minutes and we'd recommend supporting this other idea by adding your vote.

In regards to removing the step count from your Fitbit device, we'd recommend adding your vote to the ideas already posted in the Feature Suggestions board as this will help us to make sure the suggestions don't get confused, or split a popular vote. Thanks for participating and keep adding your suggestions!

I am so incredibly disappointed/angry with the update to active zones on my week old Versa2. I don’t need to be told that these minutes are worth 1x or 2x. I want to know actual minutes broken down by cardio, fat burn and peak. That’s how I set my goals, not by some goofy decision by Fitbit.

I am returning my Versa2 to the retailer and using my Inspire HR until it dies. I’ll probably switch to Kore or Apple if Fitbit doesn’t actually listen to their customers.

The measurement of Active minutes was more motivating and useful than Active zone minutes. Please give us a choice.

I just got the Charge 5. It shows zone minutes instead of active minutes. How can I change back to active minutes? I want to track my actual activity minutes during exercise. Zone minutes make it look like I've been exercising when I have not. It is kind of useless for keeping track of exercising. Not motivating like at all like Active Minutes is.

Hi @NazH, thanks for explaining why you would like to have the option to track active minutes on Fitbit Sense. I've moved it into a similar request. I think that a lot of users would like to have this option on their Fitbit devices. You can learn more about how Fitbit decides what suggestions get released in our FAQs.

Please bring back active minutes. I just had to upgrade to a Charge 5 because my Charge 4 broke and just showing active zone minutes is not motivating at all. I just went on a 45-minute, fast-paced walk (which always gets me into the fat burn zone) and it's deflating to look at the app and see a big zero where I used to see 110+.

I switched to Garmin after waiting forever for Fitbit to fix this. I tried emailing, calling, twitter - they broke my device, by removing useful features, and they don't care.

Yup. I returned my new fit bit. The whole thing is so short-sighted.

What's your goal? To motivate or kill motivation? Since this zone minutes came about all it's done is kill motivation. I can work out 1 hour for weightlifting and get under 10 zone minutes! I can do over 200 and and get no zone minutes because I am not jumping or running to elevate my heart rate if I'm not sitting on my couch it should count !

I can get over 200 abs*

I am so glad I'm not the only one!! I can walk for an hour.. lift weights which often your heart doesn't go into "cardio" or fat burn since you have to make sure u do it slow with proper form not to hurt yourself.. it's absolutely horrible to finish working out and see 0 minutes it's absolutely discouraging as heck I don't understand how Fitbit sees all their customers begging for the active minutes back and do nothing but add as all into a thread.. and that's it how about you guys fix this issue !!! Your supposed to help motivate people ! And the system you guys use is some statistics and average we aren't all average and not everyone likes to RUN OR DO HIIT .. that's the only time I ever smash my active zone minutes.. only when I am doing HIIT and feel like my heart is ABOUT TO EXPLODE .. I AM NOT JOKING.  I loved my Fitbit back when I purchased it.. now I don't even wanna look at my workouts stats cus it's so discouraging. I can drop this phone right now and do 200 abs and get 0 zone minutes because I didn't jump or jog . Not everyone likes cardio some people enjoy slower exercises!!! Like weightlifting!!!

FIX THIS ISSUE FITBIT!!!

IF IM NOT SITTING ON MY COUCH ANY EXERCISE SHOULD COUNT!!!

I can't even imagine what would happen if you do yoga.. lol

Yoga, I can tell you from experience does not give you any active minutes.  I'm not surprised by that.  Even with longer vinyasas, I don't get ten consecutive minutes of enough motion to trigger active minutes.  It seems clear Fitbit has no plan to bring back active minutes.  I have it because I have a Zip.  I broke my foot a while back and focused on active minutes over total steps for a while.  Zips are hard to get now.  When this last one dies (I've had three others, they always die) I will leave the brand.

I have a FitBit Versa 2 and would very much like to have "Active Minutes" as an option in the app and/or on the device itself. It's a pain having to log into the web dashboard to see it. This is a metric used in a fitness program and I have no idea how close I am to my target unless I log into the FitBit website.

@donimator

there is a clock face called fluid arcs that displays active minutes so you don’t always have to log on to see them. Saved my life.
