Allow us to create custom meals on Fitbit app

Given that the community has been asking for this for 10 years, and now you will no longer have access to "create a meal" via the web version of the dashboard, it's making it harder for me to a fan and supporter of Fitbit, and I've been a fan for more than a decade. Please have the app have at least the same features as the web version (e.g., create a meal), but since it doesn't already exist, add the feature for # of servings to make our lives easier please!

I agree with the other comments above - I'm visualizing your development teams utilizing the code and functionality from the online dashboard (which btw it was ridiculous that we couldn't create custom meals in the app and had to go online, but at least we could do it!) and working FEVERISHLY to get this ability back and this time doing it right - in the app! 🙂

I just made tuna salad with 2 cans of tuna, 2 hard-boiled eggs, 4 oz of diced celery and one non-fat, plain greek yogurt.
When complete, it weighed 21 oz. So I know the total calories for 21 oz (just calories though, I track macros in the app, so I need to know how much protein, carbs and fat). Now, let's say for ease of calculation that I have a 7 oz serving. I now have to go enter .33 of 2 eggs (which you can't do by the way, so I have to calculate that .33 of 2 eggs is .66 of one), .33 of 2 cans of tuna (same deal as the egg), etc. etc. And this is just FOUR ingredients! Imagine what we have to do when we create dishes with 10 ingredients?? Also, I have to dig in my recycling for the containers because I didn't scan them in anticipation of creating the custom meal on the web dashboard! (Obvi first I'm seeing this)

So, yea - let's all visualize the developers working feverishly? 🙂 Thank you in advance for implementing this by year end 2024 😉

Great Post. Also fix the My Foods section and make sense of the Recent and
Frequent columns.

Yes, that too!! I have foods in my "recent" that I haven't had since December 2023. Lol!

Maybe if we keep this thread alive our thought leaders will take the hint.

We need more votes and comments by more Fitbit users, rather than more
comments by one person.

@uberetalis I found  our FAQs cited by the Moderator to be helpful in understanding what it takes to get Fitbit to take the hint. One takeaway is that it takes more votes and more comments from individuals rather than multiple comments from one user. Also, it takes time and some requests are not going to be developed for various reasons.

While this may be true, they already had the ability to do all this on the
web, but removed the ability? It doesn’t make sense. It’s clear their plan,
at the moment, is to do nothing at all while adding foods in the app is a
pain in the butt, especially.since none of the lists are either
customizable or even accurate!

Yes, the food logging app certainly has fewer features, some features that
seem useless, some inaccuracies, and is inconvenient in so many ways! Daily
detailed tracking of calories and nutrients is part of my life and that
capability has been downgraded by loss of the web version of food logging.

However, It may be that the software for computers is different from
creating the app. I doubt they can just copy and paste!

I completely agree! Having the ability to create and customize meals directly in the app would be a huge boost. It would streamline tracking and match the invisible text copy functionality we’ve enjoyed on the web version.

True but there was no reason to get rid of the web utility without already
having the same features in the app! I keep wondering if Google is planning
on discontinuing the Fitbit line.

You might be right 🙂 Let's do it! 😉

This rollout is reminiscent of the 2011 Obamacare launch.

Under the Premium 6 months. Receipts don't have calorie count. In fact i don't see why you do anything with meals if we cannot track what we eat. I guess if i want another video channel i could subscribe, Also that i have to do everything on my phone makes no sense. Its like i'm boxed into a very tiny room to view the data. Google don't you make enough money and write enough software to do a good job. As this thread is already heavily desired and you won't give it to us, tells me you don't read feed back. I won't be picking up my subscription if you don't make it useful, probably won't use anything that you have here in the 6 months i have.

Well said.I will let my subscription lapse also.

Hey Google, you are forcing many of us to explore switching to other devices because of this, plus being unable to customize exercise, due to the deletion of the web interface. Maybe, if you’re getting rid of the Fitbit line you could let us know, rather than making us miserable. There was no reason I can see for removing the dashboard on the web. If you were planning to update the functionality of the phone app, I’d think you would have done that first. What gives?

The WEBSITE used to allow me to create custom "recipe/meal" and then I could just add it to my food intake for the day. Since you REMOVED this ability on the website and we can ONLY use the app this feature is no longer available. I am a long time user of Fitbit and very frustrated by this change.

Hi @Coolahrens68, thanks for taking the time to share this product feedback about being able to create custom meals on the Fitbit app with us. I noticed this product feedback was already requested on this board, so I’ve moved your post here. Please support this product feedback by adding your vote, this helps our developers to keep tracking its popularity and demand over time.

It seems once Google "took over", we as FitBit users got less and less, little by little. My latest frustration is the inability to add a homemade recipe to food.

My previous disappointments range from poor graphs (no real scientist would put their name on those scribblings), to non-existent exercise ranges, to the horrendous dashboard page that looks like an ad, not surprising. Keep it up Google, you just keep lowering the bar. Maybe you should consider "taking over" FoxNews (?), you have a lot in common in lowering the bar.

Amen to that!!

Amen to that, things just keep getting worse.  I moved my food tracking to My Fitness Pal as it allows me to enter recipes and meals.  I have to pay for it, but at least it allows me to track the way I could on Fitbit before Google took them over and destroyed it!!

I am diabetic and my health (and life) depends on meals with the appropriate number and percentage of carbs to eveything else. I need to be able to set up custom meals. Bring it back!! Restore the dashboard to what it was on the web! I always found the app dashboard very hard to use and read so I would go to the website instead.

I started with the Zip fitbit in 2013 so that makes me an almost 12 year user. I still use the Zip - They are pretty easy to buy elsewhere. I love that it is not on my wrist, it's in my pocket and does not have to be charged. I love that it is separate from my Apple watch (which I will never give up). I think we all have to be aware that Googe=selling things and the move of the dashboard to the app had to be expected. The website is now a sales site and for Google that makes sense.

The app dashboard is sorely lacking and needs major work to bring it up to speed so it is as easy to use as the web was. One of the criticisms is the tiny type on the app... and I agree. Have to get out the magnifying glass, even though my phone is set to medium size type.

Big vote here for restoring the dashboard to what it used to be. Thank you.

Well said. All the issues you refer to and more. It must be the work of the
same developers who launched Obamacare.

Obviously they don't subscribe to the old saying--IF IT AIN'T BROKE DON'T
FIX IT
