Allow us to create custom meals on Fitbit app

Given that the community has been asking for this for 10 years, and now you will no longer have access to "create a meal" via the web version of the dashboard, it's making it harder for me to a fan and supporter of Fitbit, and I've been a fan for more than a decade. Please have the app have at least the same features as the web version (e.g., create a meal), but since it doesn't already exist, add the feature for # of servings to make our lives easier please!

It is beyond belief that after so many years of community comments asking for the feature Google decided it is not worth developing. The Google AI search still makes reference to the web dashboard now long gone, so not so Intelligent after all. It must be terribly hard and expensive to provide the feature in the app and clearly Google can't afford it. Very disappointing to see that the huge chasm between users and developers is growing even wider.

I changed using a Google account to log in a long time ago, but Google
doesn’t have a separate app. Don’t know if they are developing one.

I also have a question for the fitbit developers: why have a whole tab in the app food section for MY FOODS if you cannot add anything to it?

I have the old Zip and it now only works via the IPhone app. I can see the forum on the web using chrome but the only way to see the dashboard and input data is via the app. What will I do when Fitbit no longer has the app? How will I be able to use the Zip other than to look at it and see what it says?  I don't want any of the new ones that fit on the wrist.

I can't believe I'm reading suggestions from 2013 for the ability to at least manually input a custom recipe and it's still not available in the app. Especially with the discontinuation of the desktop access.

Hi @LisaMarie716. Thank you for your product feedback about being able to create a custom meal on the Fitbit app with us! We've found a similar request and merged yours with it. You can find it here. Please vote on the existing thread to help us track interest. To learn more about how Fitbit decides what product feedback is developed, visit our FAQs.

Hi Lizzy, are you aware that the link on your post is looping back to this same thread? So no answer to the question when can we get back the custom food functionality?

Very disheartening to read all these comments all saying the same thing that I've been thinking about the cancellation of the dashboard and inability to create custom meals anywhere. Tonight I've realised you can't even edit the existing meals under Custom - it all seems absolutely pointless now!

So many people have been commenting about the loss of the dashboard yet Fitbit have done nothing to rectify it. Really listening to your customers 'ey??

Google now owns it and they are too huge to care. Fitbit is nothing to them. Practically invisible. There is almost no chance they will ever bother to fix it.
I’ve been watching these posts too for a long time and it is very discouraging. I love my Fitbit and have worn it for about 8 years. But this custom meals problem stinks.

The Fitbit software is the best around for tracking personal health data, hands down. I have had over 8 different Fitbit watches and for almost 10 years, I have been waiting for Fitbit to come out with a nice looking, higher end watch that you can wear with dress shirts to work or license the software to Samsung and do a collaboration.  Samsung watches are nice looking but the tracking software stinks.  Do it!

Totally agree—this feature is sorely missing. 🙁

Other apps I’ve used not only let you create meals, but also allow you to select and copy entire groups of items from one day to another.

So why not just stick with those apps? Like others have said, having everything in one place is just so much more convenient.

PLEASE make this a possibility!! It's insane to me that it's not possible and that I still have to add every single aspect of my meal every time. As someone eating salads with 6+ ingredients....its a real pain! I know I could remember the calorie count and just quick add or 'custom food' but come on...to me it seems such a basic function to help calorie and macro count yet still not been developed or seen as important...

Without the dashboard, the food logging functionality is very limited and difficult to use. I am a premium user and I think the fitbit food entry is horrible, worst I've seen. Many other products do this so much better. You should be able to define your favorite recipes and create custom meals with easy entry. You have taken away the best part of your food log by retiring the dashboard.

Why hasn’t the Fitbit team worked on this yet? You need to fire whoever has been ignoring people’s request for this for more than a decade. Forcing people to use other apps/sites for a feature you used to have and are perfectly capable of providing is scummy. If this is a choice from the board of directors, they need to be ignored or forced to step down since they clearly don’t care about the consumers.
My old Fitbit died, but I’ve been holding back on getting a new one ever since I heard this feature was taken away. Everything else worked great, so I’d really like to just use Fitbit for everything since I hate having to sync multiple apps for something as simple as calorie tracking throughout my day (which includes both food and exercise tracking).

I do a lot of cooking from scratch and appreciated the custom meal option as I often will omit or lower the amounts of sugar, salt etc so the nutritional value does not compare to any of the store bought brands.

They clearly are not going to add it. Sad.

The Food/nutrient logging part of the Fitbit app needs some serious work. I invite you to look at My Fitness Pal, for instance. The ability to prepopulate whole meals would save everyone a great deal of time, bearing in mind that most people habitually consume combinations of the same foods most days. Like several people, I've not successfully paired the MFP app with the Fitbit app via Health Connect, relying on the MFP app to pair with Fitbit directly, which sees the MFP calories reach the Fitbit app, but the Fitbit exercise fails to get to the MFP app. The workaround round manually logging my exercise in MFP sees it appear in Fitbit (Where I delete it). I would happily abandon MFP if the Fitbit app just provided an easy food logging process.
