Allow yoga and pilates to be counted towards active minutes!

Could you pleeeeeease pretty please make yoga count towards active minutes?? Yoga can be added to your exercise shortcuts, is offered on Fitbit Coach and has a Huge following on the community group Yoga! There has to be tons of goal oriented people like me that’s Love to see their active goals met by all the hard work they put in on the mat. I’d really appreciate it!!! Thanks for any consideration this could be given!

Please add Pilates!  I do Pilates 2-3 times a week!  I do other forms of higher intensity exercise also but need my Pilates to count on the days I do those classes.  Makes meeting my fitness challenges through work more difficult.

Thank you

Can we also add dance as an option? I do line dancing and my fitbit tracks it as walking or running.

I posted this in the Charge 2 site , but I think it may be better here?

I think there is a problem with the  MET score that is attached to Pilates in the Exercise section?

I have seen other posts about Pilates not showing as Active minutes - which is my issue as well.  However none of the replies has answered the question as far as I can tell.

So for example, today I went to Reformer Pilates class and I manually logged an activity of 1 hour

first to "Pilates"  and I got 129 calories burned and 0 active minutes. (this happens if I track the exercise in real time as well)

Now if I delete that entry, and manually add 1 hour to "Weights" (the same hour, with all the same captured data) gives me 220 calories and 60 active minutes.

Something tells me the algorithm for calculating calories burned in fitbit is using an incorrect MET score for Pilates or maybe none at all.  According to Omics Online - general Pilates should have a MET score of 3.8 - slightly higher than Weights.   https://www.omicsonline.org/articles-images/2157-7595-6-220-t003.html

Hi LizA7

I share your frustration! Fitbit just aren’t taking any notice of this thread... I really don’t know why no one there has looked into. Your information is very helpful. Thank you. I now manually log a Pilates class (mat work) as Yoga for want of a better idea....

Let’s hope Fitbit take everyone’s comments on board and sort this properly soon....

@Connibrown

It doesn't matter how many calories you burn, Active minutes are given when your HR is above some lvl depending on your own stats. So if that is not true why you should be given them because u yoga or strength or walk or whatever activity!

Just keep enjoying what you do.

Maybe reduce the goal on active minutes if it brings you down not having everything complete.

Yes, yes, yes! Please let yoga

count towards active minutes! A yoga workout has so many health benefits and while not always a cardio workout, it is certainly worthy of active minutes credit!

Add Pilates. Now.

Add Pilates. Now. If 55 minutes of Pilates is “0 active minutes” and 55 minutes of yoga is “55 active minutes”, then your system is extraordinarily screwed up.

For now I manually record my Pilates class as yoga. But that’s just silly. Fitbit: fix this.

I know. It’s SO annoying. Also having to record Pilates as yoga. Been waiting for forever for Fitbit to fix this. Either they don’t bother reading the community forum or they just don’t care what their customer’s think!!

Another vote for this, if it’s warranted. I’m rewarded active minutes for rather leisurely walks with my old dog, but none for busting my **ahem** on the yoga mat. My body sure knows which activity is harder. Perhaps the periods of sustained effort in a yoga sequence aren’t long enough to meet the CDC/HHS guidelines, but the fact that an easy 30 min walk logs twice the calorie burn of an hour of strenuous yoga suggests a calibration problem.

Really glad to see this has moved to "under consideration." If I walk my dog and have 30 min in the fat burn zone, I get 30 active minutes for it. If I do moderate intensity yoga and have 30 min of fat burn, I should get 30 active minutes (or at least more than zero!).

Hi everyone, and thanks for sharing this suggestion. We’re very happy to let you know that this has been released on Charge 4, now you will receive credit for each activity according the intensity level of your movements and heart rate zone, it includes exercises as Pilates and Yoga. You can find more details here: What are Active Zone Minutes or active minutes on my Fitbit device?

@AmandaL0823, in recognition of your excellent suggestion, each of your votes will now count as 5 votes – you have the power! Thank you for sharing this idea, and thanks to everyone who voted and commented for your enthusiasm which has now materialized for everyone’s benefit. We hope you all enjoy this new addition to the Fitbit product or service!

When I add an hour of Yoga the app adds 60 minutes Active Minutes but when I add an hour of Pilates no Active Minutes are added. Pilates can be just as physically demanding as yoga, if not more. Please add Active Minutes to Pilates as a form of exercise.
