Apnea and snoring detection using sound (possibly vibrate when snoring)

I am currently using an app called Sleep as Android along with a Garmin watch.  It would be really great if Fitbit could integrate the sound (snoring mainly) to correlate with the new (unreleased) sleep apnea analysis of the Ionic.  You'd have movement, heart rate, SPO2 and sound.

Hi @Aprila333! This is a great idea and thanks for explaining why you'd like to have a snorting detection to help getting better sleep records. This feature suggestion already exists, so I’ve moved your post hereThat way we can keep this board organized, in addition to clearly understanding which idea other members are voting for. Don’t forget to click on the thumbs-up to show your support.

I believe that I may have been the one to start this inquiry. The key
question for me is finding a way to wake myself up if I fall asleep
watching tv or using my computer. it is very important that I use my CPAP
machine when I sleep to prevent my stopping breathing momentary dozens of
time per night. Untreated sleep apnea can lead to heart failure due to
stress on the heart. The aim is NOT keeping sleep records but behavior
modification. The snoring detection needs to be combined with an alarm to
wake up the snorer so that they can go to bed properly.

The Versa 2 has a microphone for Alexa! Play with some snoring things! Like vibrate enough to pull you out of a store but not enough to fully wake you up. It obviously varies per person but it's better than a kick in the knee. Hahahhaa

Ski tracking would be a nice feature to have!

Since the Sense has a microphone, it'd be great if it could detect snoring by the wearer and cause the watch to vibrate a bit to rouse the snorer enough to reposition.

Hi @dotmathews, thanks for explaining why you would like to have the option to see snoring detection using sound (possibly vibrate when snoring). I've moved it into a similar suggestion which has been updated as "Under Consideration". I hope to see you around.

This was suggested in 2018 and still no app!!!!!!!very poor!!!!!

@Colyn15 in 2018 no fitbit device has a microphone to listen for snoring.

At best, this feature, if fitbit has decided to look into the possibility, would still be in testing. Why? Because it was only less than a year ago with the release of the Versa 3 and Sense that a mic was added.

Fitbit has never promised that they will add a suggested feature or give a timeline.

As most app’s work with a phone for the microphone it will only make sense
if the phone records and sends a msg to the watch to wake u up. Maybe
contact apple? That is how their app currently works and from the apple 3
watch which is fairly the same launch date as the versa 2

What type of message do you want the app to send? Only a few models of fit it's even have a speaker.

I didn't want the device to alert me but rather monitor. I was using an
app on my phone which would record sound while I slept. It used machine
learning to identify sounds which might be bad snoring or apnea. The app
would align heart rate, movement, etc to the sound.

@DCleary please read @Colyn15 post above, and you will understand my response to the Apple phone sending notification to the watch.
