Better battery life for all trackers

I have had a Flex, Flex 2, Blaze, Alta, Charge, Charge HR, Charge 2 and the one thing they have in common? Battery life only lasts for 7 days max.

I understand if the HR sensor is on all the time they would decrease battery life but if there is no screen or HR sensor. The battery should last much longer.

I have a MiBand by Xiaomi. It's £7. The battery and spec is close to a Flex. But, the battery lasts for over 1 month. It uses the HR sensor while sleeping to make the sleeping data accurate and has an alarm.

Here is a screenshot taken a few mins ago. It lasted 22 days and has 51% battery life. So, it may last 30-40 days. On one charge. And it shows you this via the app. Fitbit is a premium tracker. I really love my Charge 2 but when Xiaomi can do the basics right and somehow make the battery last for so long, it makes me wonder why Fitbit devices don't last as long.

Thanks for looking!

I've recently switched from UP2 (by Jawbone) to the new Fitbit Flex 2, love how slim and light it is, love the fact that the band feels secure and doesn't fall off, also love the dashboard. The one thing I wish you would improve is the battery charge. I have to charge it every 4-5 days VS every 10 days with my old UP band. If you could improve this, your product would be perfect !! 😁

I found that my Flex 2 wasn't charging properly weather it was via a computer or power point.

When it seemed to be supposedly fully charged it was only about half charged if not less.

According to https://www.quora.com/How-does-the-Mi-Band-track-my-sleep MiBand is not using HR monitor for sleep tracking.

I wonder if the battery life is intentionally set for the charge to last as long as it does and for the battery to last as long as it does. I think that there is capability for each charge to last longer. I would think that it is a business decision for it to work as it does. I would prefer each charge to last longer even if there are fewer possible lifetime charges.

I am very disappointed that my first fitbit lasted less than two years and I used it intermittently. The design must be made for these units to have a short lifespan so that you have to buy a new one within a certain amount of time and one way for the company to control that is through battery life. Just a thought.

I couldn't agree more.  I used to have a Fitbit One, and it would charge quickly and the battery power lasted from 10 to 14 days.  When my Fitbit One died and I had to get a replacement, I discovered that it was no longer offered, so after perusing the options, I selected the Flex 2.  I've been very disappointed.  It's super slow to charge, and the battery power only lasts 4 to 5 days, even with most of the features turned off.  It's very frustrating, and as a result, I hardly use my Flex 2.  I definitely won't recommend it to others.  In exploring other Fitbit options, it sounds like most of them have underwhelming battery life.  This seems like a glaring problem for Fitbit to fix.  Battery life in devices should be getting better, not worse, than the older models.

Miband uses HR to detect more accurate sleep but not continuously. With that in mind and an alarm which goes off each day. I am haven't charged my Miband for 32 days now and it has 26% battery life left.

Fitbit Flex 2 has no HR sensor and lasts about 4-5 days on a single charge.

It's a sad day! I sold my Fitbit and bought a Amazfit Bip. Made for Xiaomi and cost about £37

- 45 day battery life (yes, 45 days!)

- barometer, compass and gps

- always on colour screen

- HR sensor (record during sleep or every 1 min, 5 min or 10 min)

- shows the weather

- gorilla glass

It's everything the blaze and surge should have been.

Does it collect HR data all the time, so that you can review how was your HR throughout a day? If yes, how do you compare it's HR precision compared to Fitbit and others, is it worth change?

@SunsetRunner

Yes it does. Every 1, 10 or 30 mins (depending what you set).

I have 39% battery life left with 21 days usage (24/7 HR).

I would like a fitbit like the new Versa that is coming out to have a LONGER battery life if one was to use the Versa every day at its fullest capacity like having the GPS on all day cause you forget or  leave your Bluetooth running all the attempts to synch and calculate data will cause the battery to die much faster.

Battery staying power needs to be addressed so one is not constantly charging a possible 4-day battery life is what will prevent me from upgrading to this new device tho I really like the features

Hi,

It is now established that fitbit has the best app and makes some of the best watches.

I would like to see a watch which would compete against the Garmin forerunner 935. i.e an aesthetically pleasing light weight watch which will have a long battery (no need to have a colourful screen) and will be perfect for running, open water swimming, cycling and all other types of exercise at a reasonable price range.

Thanks

On the next  upgrade for the Charge 4 a longer battery life would be appreciated.  When I say that I mean 8 days.  It would be a great help.

Smart watches were once seen as a replacement for smartphones, but they did not develop to their own era. Although lithium batteries have smaller, lighter volume and higher energy density than earlier nickel batteries, the root cause of poor performance of smart watches is mainly limited by the current battery technology that is without a breakthrough.

However, in a limited volume, from a safety point of view, smart watches can only use lithium batteries of about 300-400 mAh, and the endurance that it can provide is limited by the consumption of screens and high-performance processors.

According to the research organization IDC’s market data for smart watches, the shipments of smart watches in Q3,2018 decreased by 51.6% compared with the same period of last year. Tracing back to this market performance, the poor battery lift of smart watches affects the consumer experience is as one of the most important reasons.

Is there a better solution? It is worth noting that GREPOW has launched a smart watches battery with a "revolutionary" upgrade in battery life, with a smaller size, higher energy density, and custom shape battery. I wonder if there is any chance to know us, and Grepow can provide solutions.

My fitbit charge 3 has suddenly stopped holding any charge, within less than 2 hours of taking it off charge at 100% it drops down to 1% and shuts itself off. Plus the screen is not displaying correctly

I am really disappointed as it isn’t even 2 years old yet.

HELP!!!!!!

I am sad but i think that I will not purchase anymore fitbit tracker, always a charging issues 😞

I wish i knew how you even get 3 or 4 days from a charge. My Versa 2 can't even cope with my marathon time of around 4.30 even after an overnight charge.

Fitbit should improve the basic functionality of their devices. Battery use is abysmal followed closely by band durability. My watch activated on 1/20/21 no longer holds a charge for more than 3 1/2 hours (even when sleeping). 48 days past warranty and FitBit offers a discount coupon, unacceptable. Clearly Fitbit has a battery issue.
