Bring back Calories Left estimate on new Fitbit app

Please can we have the actual, numerical estimate of calories remaining back on the app please? I have been following a sedentary calorie deficit plan since mid August and have lost over half a stone. I was very dependent on this metric to plan my food. Now I'm too scared to have a yoghurt in-case it tips my little pointer into the pink zone!

I need this back too. It was a major reason I used this app and not others. I wish I could go back to the previous version!

Ditto! Wonder why with the recent updates nothing has been done to fix this!!!  Ugh! @Fitbit are you listening ?

Desperately need this back - I've heard they have it on Android, but not on iOS yet. Fitbit, what gives? You've put out three updates since - PUT THIS BACK.

Adding my voice to those who really want this back! I miss seeing the calories I "earned" back if I had a really active day!

I was so hopeful the new update (Nov. 14) would include putting back the ability to see remaining calories for the day. For anyone who relies on this feature, I'll share the workaround I just implemented. Since the remaining calories metric is visible on the website dashboard, I logged in to my account on the web browser on my phone and saved the web tab to my home screen. I also tweaked the layout (on desktop) to put the calories tile top left so it's the first thing visible when I hit the tab on my phone. So disappointing that in this age of technology Google would remove this highly useful feature from the app and force us to have two Fitbit icons on our phones just to manage our account.

Second comment: I don't understand why this wasn't included in the list of things to be returned to the Fitbit app.  Please rethink this and put it back.  Its removal was a downgrade, not an improvement.

I had to pin a webpage link on the home screen of phone to see my calorie estimate on the website dashboard. Please put this feature back in the app!

The food tile on the app used to show the estimate of food you could eat for the day, given your level of exercise, to hit your target deficit for the day. Now it just shows you the set daily calorie level. Which is useless, it's just a calorie tracker now - the deficit target is my main use for the app!

So I’m doing the food plan and the 1000 calorie defecit. The app shows “XX calories left for the day” but it’s a prorated amount based on the hour of the day. I don’t like that as i really want to know how many calories TOTAL I have left for the day to plan meals. It’s shown in the Dashboard food plan as “Today I can still eat YY calories”.

This was the main utility of the app for me. I lost 38 pounds with this! It was wildly dumb to remove this feature.

It is ridiculous they haven’t brought this feature back yet. After all, the data are available — you can see it if you go to your dashboard online. But how dumb to have a redone app, then have to launch your browser and sign into Fitbit.com to find the one most useful piece of information they took away.

The problem as I see it is that since Fitbit has been acquired by Google, the future of the app is now being considered - so Google are _probably_ deciding whether to continue development of the Fitbit app or integrate its features into their existing Google health app.

Admittedly, with the voice of opinion on this removed / disabled feature growing louder, I struggle to see how Google can ignore what their user-base are demanding as a feature.

Google, you do have user groups to discuss this sort of thing, right?

The craziest part is they already have all of the coding that makes that feature function! They actively turned off a working and valuable aspect of the product. From a tech standpoint, this update is like shooting your app in the foot for no reason. It's non-sensical, unless Google is trying to de-value Fitbit to merely a food tracker and pedometer.

I hope they don’t think removing the ‘calories remaining/over’ feature (with adjustment for daily movement) will get people to pay for premium. I’m actively watching for an app I like better, since they removed this tool. Which means I will eventually switch to different devices if they don’t fix this.

For now, I’ve taken to just doing the math. I know I burn a little over 50 cal per hour, just to exist, not doing any movement. So when Fitbit tells me at 4pm that I’m 600 calories over, using its annoying new method of calculating without accounting for any further calorie burn that day - I know I have 8 hours left to go and I’m going to burn 400+ of that 600 by midnight, even if I just laze around. So I’m only focusing on the extra 200 I need to burn, plus any calories in that I want.

It’s annoying to fuss with the math when Fitbit used to have a lovely tool for that, but it’s an option until I find something I like better. I don’t want to get an Apple Watch, but maybe it’ll be time soon. 🤷🏻‍:female_sign:🤦🏻‍:female_sign:

Well that's it, I'm leaving. Couldn't wait any longer. Since I now need 2 apps open anyways I just bought an Apple Watch and I'm excited about it. Nice to be excited instead of resentful.

I just don't understand why they can't bring back a previously existing
feature! It's not something new we're asking for. It already exists.
Fitbit tells you to post about it so they can gauge feedback, they get tons
of feedback, and then the moderator chimes in to say no, Fitbit doesn't
intend to bring this feature back despite all the support to do so. It's
ridiculous at this point. This was the PRIMARY reason for most of us users
to stay with Fitbit. The new app is a lesser version of what it used to
be, and it isn't working for many of us. Not surprised to hear people say
they're switching products.

What’s even more ridiculous is the feature still exists on the website dashboard. So no bloody reason to not bring it back. As someone who struggles with eating issues (usually under eating), that feature was a comfort to let me know that yes, it’s okay to have lunch or whatever. Now I have something for breakfast and see I have 200 calories left for the day — what possible good does that information do?

Agree!  This tile was what set Fitbit apart from other trackers/app combos.  I'm so annoyed this was removed. I just returned to fitbit specifically for this functionality.

This function is still available in the web dashboard - why remove from the app?

Healeygal

this has gone beyond annoying. They have the data in the dashboard — add the **ahem** code back into the app!  Why should I have to check the web dashboard just to get this information?

It doesn't seem like they're listening to our feedback here.  Do as I did and post a review in the Apple App Store.  Perhaps someone will respond there and take action.

Since the update, the weightless widget on app says "X stone Y lbs" and "x to go to target". This used to say "9lbs lost, X to go to target". Now it just reads your weight with no reference to the progress you've made or how far you've come on the app homescreen. Massive oversight

@LizzyFitbit Can you provide an update on this feature? Is it on a list to add back? This is beyond frustrating. I am 2+ lbs under my goal weight, just finished a 2 mile walk and have logged over 12k steps today and the app says I have 1368 calories left for the day (I haven't logged any food). Desktop says I have 1928. I believe the desktop version is correct, so I cannot rely on the app at all.

I lost 40 pounds using the Fitbit app to track my food, exercise, and calorie allowances. Having an accurate, reliable calories balance ON THE APP is essential! Is Google expecting us to carry our laptops around or log into the desktop view on our phones? What's the point of the app then?

I voted, btw, so don't refer me there. What I am looking for is a NAY or YEA. Is this feature going to be added back or not, and if so, what's the time frame? That will help me decide whether or not to switch to another device, which I am loathe to do. I like my Versa 4. I used to love the app. This is a dealbreaker for me.

Thank you.
