Bring back previous system to generate daily readiness score

In general I really do not like the new readiness system. It no longer takes into account the previous workouts. One day I logged 208 zone minutes due to an extremely intense tennis match. I was beat up after that. The next day my readiness score was 66. There was no way I was ready for any exercise other than light stretching.

I totally agree! I feel like it doesn't accurately calibrate readiness. I ha a similar situation with an intense run and the following day still having a 66 score. I do know my own body well enough to know it was going to be a rest day, and the day after that the score was still the same. I haven't really seen a score about 70 with the new update. I would also advocate for information about the AZM goals be reverted to a previous setting, when you could have a "goal" for low, moderate, and high readiness scores. That really helped me on my fitness journey to make the right choices between a strength or cardio workout. Now I only see 22 minutes as a goal daily for the last two weeks. I wear my Fitbit all the time, so it should be able to calculate with more accuracy.

I posted in the product feedback about my issues with the readiness score.   There is a new Cardio Load and Target Load system that is being rolling out.  It does look at previous exercise and the readiness score to come up with exercise targets.  It looks like a pretty robust system.   The timing of rollout is dependent on which watch you are using.

Not sure why they are keeping the feature  so under wraps.  It's does seem typical of Google product management.  Welcome to the Google ecosystem.  I have been in and and around their ecosystem for 15+ years and this is somewhat typical.

I had my first workout with a Load Target.  I hit the goal and it seems that the target was reasonable.  I have my target set to "Improve Cardio Fitness".  One issue is that I do not have a realtime view of my progress toward the goal as I workout. I have to resync the app to the watch, then it shows in the app.  Kind of a pain.  I have a Versa 3 watch.

The last 3 days I did intensive cardio workouts.  Today I had a Cardio Target of 35 - 67.  I was a bit burned out so I thought could hit the target with a long hike on the treadmill in fat burn heart range.  After 15 minutes I made very little progress toward the goal.  I figured it would take an hour+ to hit it.  My active minutes did reflect the workout I was doing as expected.   There is a big discount in Cardio Load if working out in the moderate/fat burn heart rate level.

Today I wave a Load Target of 95 to 109. Yikes!  That seems a bit too tall for me.   I think the problem is that I play tennis 2x a week and I get close to that number.  Tennis is 90 minutes of hard work fun so it comes easily to me.  But trying to replicate the output on a gym day is really really tough.  I will give it best effort today.

Hmmm, made a hard run at my Load Target in the gym.  A good workout but there was no way I was going to hit the Cardio Load of 95.  I reset my Cardio Load goal to maintain from improve.

Setting my Cardio Load to "maintain" reduced  my Target Load dramatically.  I think the change is due to my workout habits.  I play tennis twice a week.  On those days I blow past my Target Load.  On Gym days 3-4 times a week, I barely hit my Target Load.  I am enjoying observing how this plays out.

Below is a tennis day

OK, I am all in now with the new Cardio Load system.  I think it dives deeper into previous workouts, sleep patterns and overall readiness.  It derives a score that seems much more reasonable than the older active minute goals.   With my cardio oriented workouts I feel I get more rewarded at the higher heart rates.
