Bring back the Fitbit Web Dashboard

It would be nice to have a Fitbit dashboard app for PC. I'm a senior and it is hard to read the dashboard on my phone.

If you say that you have walked more than 63 steps, what does your Fitbit
say? It looks like you may have a sync error. You can review previous days
by using the arrows on the day selection.

GOOD NEWS!  I like many of you who are frustrated with Fitbit taking away some of the parts of their service when we pay them money for what they make.  They probably don't care because maybe most of their clients who are younger probably live on their phones and don't care about using something us older folks like better. Even if I was younger I would still rather use their dashboard because it is so much easier than using the food part on the phone.

SO, I FOUND AN ALTERNATIVE.  I found CRONOMETER and  downloaded it on my laptop for free.  It has an easy way to find food, plug in what you eat, create meals, etc... Not quite as easy as the Dashboard, but close - maybe overall it is better - will see.

Today I was able to sync my fitbit with Cronometer and my fitbit downloaded each of my devices in sync together so I can track both my calories out and in on both apps.  GREAT ALTERNATIVE!  Give it a try, or wait for 100 years for Fitbit to meet your desires.  No need to upgrade and pay extra.

Agree with all rkp000001 says above. I have used FB for 8 years to track information about a chronic medical condition. Without the old Dashboard and the ability to dig deeper into my data, the ability to track and inform my doctors is gone. Averages across a prescribed timeframe are useless; I need to know whether I had a spike across a specific three days, for example, not that my average across that week looked fine. The specific product feedback recommendation is to bring back the functionality we had with the previous Dashboard and allow us to continue to track and manage our data. Bonus points for removing the functionality w no communication to the user base.

Am adding a comment I had put in  post I had started back in here as recommended for continuity:

I've been seeing many posts on the matter of the dashboard being removed, and yes we understand the dashboard functionality/app has been removed and only remains on the smartphone app version. Why? There are many who prefer to see this on a large screen and perhaps spend more time on a desktop/laptop rather than a phone screen. Typing things is convenient for one matter, I have noted others mentioning as they age viewing is better on a large screen as well, and one can simply switch from a tab to another to check one's status. Removing the dashboard from e.g. the Windows app version or the browser version seems to have been a case of fixing something that was not broken. A case in point here is that all Fitbit data will be migrated to Google in 2025, which frankly seems to benefit Google rather than us Fitbit users!

Can I make a plea to Fitbit/Google to have the dashboard restored to the browser version (at least) and perhaps even the Windows (read relevant OS) app? I am sure this would be of benefit to many!

I am also a senior and have been using the Fitbit app for at least a decade on my 10" screen Android tablet as well as the web dashboard. Recently I have even been considering upgrading from a Fitbit Charge 4 to a Fitbit Charge 6. But I've decided that Fitbit is no longer offers what I need. So my new non-Fitbit tracker is due to arrive this weekend and I've requested a download of my Fitbit data prior to completely deleting Fitbit from my Google account.

Last year, I was informed that Google had bought Fitbit and would be moving it onboard into the Google system. I resisted as long as I could until I was forced to accept that my online Fitbit web account would no longer work. I decided to register it to a reserve Google account rather than my main personal Google account. But the loss of the dashboard is the final straw for me - is Fitbit/Google actually listening to the avalanche of negative feedback here in the forum? It's not as if there aren't plenty of other (much cheaper) trackers on the market that can do the same job as a Fitbit. Why should I cough up £140 for a Fitbit Charge 6 when I can get a comparable device for between £30 and £60??? Many pensioners may have reduced financial resources but we're pretty good at deciding what is good value or not.

Sadly, it seems that there is no end to the acquisition of other companies by Google. However I'm fed up of forced amalgamation like this and it definitely seems to be getting worse. Time to move on ...

Noted the comment from PearlMermaid and others:

Charge6_image.pngI changed from the Charge 5 to 6 and it was not an improvement. For starters when I go out running the active screen shows 'GPS connected' all the time (image attached) - I do not need to know that! On the Charge 5 that would show the actual distance run, which would tell me when to stop/carry on etc.  I did write to Fitbit support who responded with the 'we are on it' response' - this is surely a simple software fix for such company which has not been implemented. Yet another case of fixing what was not broken and not paying attention to design legacy aspects. There are other changes looking at the cardio grading which used to be 'fat burn', 'cardio' and 'peak' and this is now various grades of 'vigorous' - why? More fiddling without any meaningful impact really; the designers really need to look at these aspects if there is going to be a Charge 7 because if not I certainly would be picking one up, and as many have suggested other platforms/devices then become relevant.

The fitbit dashboard had specific features that you can get on the mobile app like being able to create custom foods which make entering your meals easier when you have a fixed menu.  And as some others have mentioned, I am old and a keyboard makes it a lot easier for me to navigate through an app.   It also seems that since Google started making changes none of my workouts are being captured or stored.  My steps are still being logged but even when I set my Surge to workout and sync after I have finished, the steps get captured but the workout details do not.

If anyone has any ideas on how to edit/add to custom foods or how to get workouts to sync please let me know.

Features on Fitbit Desktop Dashboard (Unavailable or Limited on Mobile):

1. Advanced Data Export

The desktop allowed detailed exporting of fitness, sleep, and activity data
for further analysis in external tools like Excel or Google Sheets.

2. Custom Goal Setting for All Metrics

Setting or fine-tuning certain advanced goals (e.g., calorie intake or
weekly fitness targets) was more comprehensive on the desktop.

3. Detailed Reports

Access to in-depth historical charts and trends over extended periods
(weeks, months, or years) was easier to visualize on the larger desktop
interface.

4. More Comprehensive Community Features

Managing Fitbit groups, challenges, and adding friends was often more
user-friendly on the desktop due to better navigation.

5. Custom Clock Faces or Apps

While the Fitbit app now includes these features, desktop dashboards
previously had an edge in managing these customizations.

6. Multi-Account Management

Logging in and switching between multiple Fitbit accounts (e.g., for family
members) was simpler on the desktop.

7. Diet and Nutrition Management

Viewing and managing dietary logs in bulk (including macros and nutrients)
was often more streamlined.

8. Third-Party App Integration

Connecting and managing integrations with apps like Strava or MyFitnessPal
was sometimes more straightforward.

9. Device Settings and Updates

Managing firmware updates and advanced device settings (like notifications
or syncing preferences) was sometimes better handled via desktop.

10. Historical Data Backup and Syncing

Accessing and saving longer-term backup data for all activities was easier
to manage on desktop.

Same problem for me. Without dashboard on the PC, my fitbit is useless!!!

Fitbit was such a top-product, I was using it daily....now I have it installed on my handy, but it became useless

To all those poeple, who are frustrated with the loss of the dashboard:

Do you know any other solutions or alternatives?
Important for me: a dashboard where I can control my data and the possibiity for downloading the data to the PC....and of course the ability to count the height your doing within a day...

AC137

A lot of us voicing our frustrations re the stagnation around the loss of the dashboard via other screen alternatives.

This will all be pointless unless Fitbit/Google themselves respond here, ideally with a solution that addressed our concerns!

I wonder if the moderators have any role in getting the message through to those at Google who are actually in an admin position to get this sorted.

As others have mentioned you can download an app

Cronometer

This app allows you to sync your Fitbit device and make food entries etc.It does not do it the same as Fitbit in someways it is better in some not so great but if you sync the Fitbit and enter the rest on your desktop you can track calories etc in and out.

Somethings will not be the same but its better than none and next time you buy a tracker you can buy another brand since this will sync with different trackers besides Fitbit

I was a Google fit user and absolutely loved the web interface before Google removed it.

When I first got fitbit.many years ago I wasn't a fan but loved the web interface

When I got fitbit again a couple of years ago it was good and the web interface was super useful. Now that's gone.

The android app was pretty good but now since the redesign it's just pretty but mostly useless.

Google fit was brilliant until they wrecked it and now they are making/have made Fitbit useless too.

Dear Fitbit and Moderator LizzyFitbit,

I agree with others that the Web Dashboard should be brought back.

Additional reasons why it should be that I have not seen brought up in this Community Thread:

1. The Web Dashboard allowed subscribers to access our data from any internet-connected device (phone or computer) anywhere in the world at any time. Making that information and Dashboard only available on a phone app means we can only access our Dashboard and all else only from one device - our Smartphone with the app on it. (By the way, why can’t we get all the data from the Fitbit device itself, anyway?)

2. Not everyone has or wants to have a Smartphone. Smartphones track all kinds of data about a person and their lives, including their present location. Smartphones are a personal privacy and personal security risk that stalkers, criminals, corporations, and governments can use to exploit and harm people. Requiring Fitbit users to have a Smartphone puts those who don't want a Smartphone at risk unnecessarily and for no benefit to Fitbit or the user.

3. Even if we have a Smartphone, it is not always available for use. My smartphone is broken right now. I came to Fitbit dot com to see my Dashboard and see my data for the past few days, only to discover that the Web Dashboard is gone. Due to that, I can't view my data that I use the Fitbit for. This includes tracking critical health information that I need to track on an ongoing basis. I am at greater physical risk right now given that I can’t view my current and recent data because my phone is not working. Phones can also be lost or unavailable for all sorts of other reasons.

4. Does Fitbit realize that a Fitbit user might have an adverse health event, like a cardiac event, that could have been addressed in time if that person could have accessed their Fitbit data in a timely manner using the Web Dashboard? Email updates are not a substitute for constant availability to log into a Web Dashboard.

5. Does Fitbit/Google realize they are not serving the health and health information interests of users by not having the Web Dashboard available? I have a Fitbit to gather health/physical data to help me stay healthy and monitor my bodily functions, and that Fitbit exists, and is owned by users, to help people monitor this data and benefit in their maintenance of their health? There is no reason to own a Fitbit and subscribe to it if we can't have easy access to that data when we want it, wherever we are, at whatever time we choose, from the billions of internet-connected devices in the world.

6. Does Fitbit realize that it is leaving itself vulnerable from owners/subscribers who bought the device to help with important medical tracking and health maintenance if they have an adverse health event--e.g., heart attack--in part due to not being able to track their health data that Fitbit presents as a core feature and reason to own the product?

7. Does Fit bit understand that some medical professionals use patient’s health and physical activity data that Fitbit records in helping track trends, physical performance, etc. measures that occur outside of the time that a patient is in their medical appointment and that this is a critical tool used in serving patients and helping medical professionals do their job in this age? Taking about the Web Dashboard makes it difficult (impossible?) for users to download and print this health data for their physicians, and it is impossible for medical care providers to see the entire profile as they could if the user could log in to their Web Dashboard at a medical office appointment.

8. If my smartphone that is broken can’t be fixed, then I’ve lost access to years of data forever. And why should that be? The Web Dashboard would have meant that data would be accessible to me from billions of other devices.

9. Tell me why as a user removing Web Dashboard access is of any benefit to me and my monitoring of my bodily functions and health status? Why should I still subscribe to Fitbit when Fitbit is acting against the interests, health and other, of its customers, including me.

This is a senseless change in Fitbit’s services. It does nothing to help users, and as a product and service that has just made itself less worthwhile, I see no reason to keep using Fitbit and not purchase another product and service.

Bring back the Web Dashboard for these and other reasons. Thanks.

Looking at the 2 or 3 feedback categories here referring to the web app / web dashboard, there seems to be a wide consensus of customer needs.

However, after a while, I don't see any reference here of product team listening or gathering those feedbacks for eventual roadmap.

I personally now used alternative dashboard https://dashboard.exercise.quest that fit my needs and would be interested by the wisdom of this community when it comes to replacing my fitbit tracker by another similar device any time soon.

My comment from a few days ago was edited and not by me, so the part below does not make sense with that edit.

6. Does Fitbit realize that it is leaving itself vulnerable to -------- from owners/subscribers who bought the device to help with important medical tracking and health maintenance if they have an adverse health event--e.g., heart attack--in part due to not being able to track their health data that Fitbit presents as a core feature and reason to own the product?

The phrase to -------- was removed from my comment, where -------- referred to something that might possibly happen to Fitbit/Google in the legal arena at some point if they don't allow users to access their data online as they used to do and a serious adverse medical event occurs as I outlined.

I'm just informing Fitbit/Google that they are putting themselves at risk of facing such issues in the future with the current policy. It's a simple observation about something that might happen to them, not a threat.

Please Fitbit take the comments from your paying customers seriously; your sales and re-subscriptions might decline due to the current policy, a policy that helps no one--not buyers, subscribers, or the company itself.

My phone broke 10 days ago and I will finally get a replacement tomorrow, but is has been extraordinarily frustrating that with all the PCs, laptops and tablets I have in my house there is no way to log my calories, weight and other data, because Google has decided that in purchasing the most popular fitness tracking brand that the best thing to do with it was to remove 60% of its functionality.
