The web dashboard has been down for almost a year now.
When does google plan too fix it? The app version is almost unusable and makes the whole Fitbit range of products less usable / useful than other fitness trackers.
I can't remember if I've already commented or not, but the computer app that I used back when I first got my first FitBit back in 2019 was wonderful for me as my internet connection is awful at the best of times so being given the choice and automatic updating between the app, web and phone for any input like it is on my phone would be brilliant. Knowing that I don't have to rely on my phone for everything would be better and giving users the choice might bring more people to the FitBit family too.
I use the app to track both my fitness and my diet. The fitness side is easy enough. The diet/food side is miserable. It was much easier using the web dashboard to input foods to my dairy as well as seeing what's going on with my exercise. It was a real shame that they removed it and I'd like to see it come back.
Shouldn't be too difficult. Some guy on reddit created a 3rd party dashboard for the fitbit.
If I had known the web dashboard was going away, I would have waited until next January to switch my login to my Google account. The app will only be minimally of use to me now for tracking steps and weight. I won't be able to log my food anymore. It's too hard in the tiny phone with the one-finger, one letter at a time 'keyboard'. I guess that was what you all wanted anyway. Get rid of labor supporting and enhancing the desktop interface.
Google's decision to kill the dashboard was terrible. I am now looking for a new environment to replace it. It has caused me to cancel my premium membership when it came up for renewal.
Appalling that the dashboard is no longer available. No where can stats and progress be displayed easily. The watch can’t do it and the app is equally poor. Apple next time.
Is there a particular reason why Google have dismissed the basic accessibility requirements of users with vision problems?
Lots of people use screen readers in their day-to-day lives, but the retirement of a web interface no longer allows them that 'luxury'.
I'd be keen to hear from a representative of the business about the rationale for ignoring this subsection of their user base. When most companies are finally understanding the importance of accessibility, why isn't Google/Fitbit among them?
100% agree. I used to love checking my stats on my laptop since I'm on a laptop 80% of my time. I don't use my mobile for that kind of thing, and yes, I am over 50! For us older folk who prefer laptops/desktops, we should have the *choice* but the choice has been taken away from us. Not happy!
Someone is leveraging the Fitbit API's to provide a dashboard for folks. It's not as incredible as the one Fitbit offered, but it is better than nothing. The link is below.
I get an error whenever I try to log in to it, so I can't use that either 😞 It worked for about 2 hours the first time I used it just after I posted my desire to have the desktop version back and it's never worked since, no matter which browser I use 😞
I think if you log in, you have to use your Google Account to log in. I had some issue where it wouldn't show data. I held CTRL and hit F5 few times and then logged back in and has worked ever since.
Thank you Kevin, but that's the first thing I tried for days (or possibly longer) on end and it just hasn't wanted to play ball with me... it was good for the 2 hours that it worked though lol
I commented on this many moons ago, but I have more information.
I had a conversation (chat) with a Fitbit representative and she said they have no plans to reinstate the dashboard. However, she did say:
"We're constantly striving to improve Google and Fitbit products and services, and we appreciate all of the input we receive from our customers. The best place to make your voice heard is the Product Feedback board on our community (community.fitbit.com/t5/Product-Feedback/idb-p/features).
If a similar suggestion has already been made by another member of the community, you can vote for their suggestion and add your comments."
And.....
"There's a short survey coming up. Fitbit would appreciate your feedback about your experience today. Thanks for contacting Fitbit. Have a great day.
