CIBC banking (Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce)

Hello: I really want to buy the Fitbit ionic, I think it's great. I already have the Fitbit flex 2.

I won't buy the Ionic tho, until you've partnered with CIBC, I bank wIth CIBC, and once I can link and use my bank card with the Ionic, please let me know and I will head out to buy it 🙂

Add more banks to fitbit pay please. I use CiBC, but its better to accommodate every bank in Canada using NFC.

Great idea! I'm a university student a Guelph university. I recently purchased an ionic an am enjoying it so far. Being a university student without a car I frequently make small purchases while going from place to place. The university mainly supports CIBC bank with ATMs on campus. Hence, that is where many students are banking. Guelph Canada also carries one of the largest jogging communities in Canada and supports arguably the best track and cross country university teams. For these reasons I believe Guelph has great market for promoting fitbit products and CIBC bank will help to grab the student body.

I have just purchased my new Ionic and for the most part I am enjoying it. However the reason for this purchase, which was $300 plus, was because I wanted the pay feature, only to find out oopppss.....can't use it!!!! Very upsetting and would have liked to have known that from the get go as to be honest I would not have made the purchase. I would have perhaps gone with a Samsung smart watch which is not the same but does many of the feature and I can you the Samsung Pay App. which does work with at least my CIBC bank card.

I am looking to see some results very quickly here in terms of Fitbit making arrangement with more Canadian Banking Institution! As one or more people on this post have stated 2 of the 3 accepted institutions are obscure for most of Canada and thus are not even acceptable. Fitbit is a company that has been around long enough and has made no doubt enough money on the Canadian population to seek agreements with many of the more popular banking institutions. i.e. TD, CIBC, Captial One Mastercard (which is accepted in the US but not Canada), BMO, VISA, Simplii (which is one of the fastest growing institutions in Canada).

It is my hope that this can be rectified as quickly as possible because in my mind it is bad form to sell a product that can't honesty be used in Canada

I am now noticing that many of the posts that I have been seeing regarding this issues are from 2017.......clearly Fitbit is more then willing to sell Canadian a product that is not usable in Canada!!!! Way to Go Fitbit.......continue collecting your sales but it will not be from me again!!!! Trumped again!!!

Hi @gibsonbradley! Great suggestion, thanks for sharing.  I've moved it into a similar suggestion. Hopefully we will have support from other users since more votes and comments an idea has the more visibility and momentum it gains.

Yes please add CIBC! I have the charge 2 and it's the main reason I'm not switching to the versa

Recently got Charge 3 SE for both myself and my girlfriend. Extremely disappointing to learn we couldn't use fitbit pay. Please add Cibc and more RBC debit compatibility soon!!

Before selling, Fitbit should have completed the infrastructure/paperwork to support the device. Failing to do this, it then should have advertised it as a US model that not work in most cases outside the US.  The fact that there is no agreement any of the five major banks is not advertised.  If you complain or request a bank addition, you will get a pat response from Fitbit saying they are constantly adding new banks and to keep tuned.  It appear 'constant' is relative and they have been giving the same pat response for months and none have been added.  It is not that the Canadian banks are not interested - CIBC and others have signed on with iWatch and Android.  I am a long-term, devoted fitbit fan and I am very disappointed. They won my loyalty with the Surge but are about to lose it due to a lack of integrity with their new watches.  When selling becomes more important they provided a good service which is advertised, the company losing loyalty. While I am currently stuck with my Special Edition Versa, I can talk to others just like I did before and instead of highly recommending purchase, advise otherwise. By the way, the Government of Canada has a division called the Competition Bureau Canada.   If a product advertises an ability but can not do it while other who may be their competition can, a complaint can be made.  Go on line Canadians!

I have a new versa and am disappointed my bank isn't on the list of participating institutions.  Please add CIBC to the list of banks that will accept fitbit pay.

I agree Jennifer.  This was a selling point of the Versa Special Edition.  No banks have been added for Canadian customers since last spring.  Coming to this forum & ‘voting’ for CIBC hasn’t done a thing.   Fitbit pay is useless for most Canadian customers.

Definitely more banks needed for special edition Fitbit. I purchased the charge 3 SE for this reason only to find I can’t use that feature.

Got to have’Fit for CIBC. Please cover the major banks in Canada: BMO, TD-CanadaTrust, ScotiaBank and CIBC. I picked up the versa SE and love it but I thought since Canada/BC was so quick to adopt tap services that the FitPay was an automatic...so definitely was disappointed to learn otherwise. Thanks

Please add CIBC. I purchased the Charge 3 Special Edition excited to be able to use the fitbit pay feature. I was very dissapointed to find out that I cant even use it, and I did not see this advertised anywhere that it only supports 3 banks. This should have been more clear. Please add CIBC ASAP!

So this thread has been sitting here for about 17 months now and still no CIBC added to Fitbit Pay.  Glad I didn't pay the extra for the special edition when I bought my Charge 3.  Obviously Canada is not really all that important to Fitbit.

I agree.  The special edition was a waste of money for me since that is one of the reasons I went for it.  Will know better next time 😡

I am surprised to see RBC is supported but CIBC isn't. Please add CIBC asap. It will unlock so much more potential customers for fitbit.

what other CDN banks are supported?

wonder if Fitbit is waiting for payolla, ridiculous that this isn't happening, no feedback certinaly makes one think........

I am currently with CIBC and Canadian Tire Triangle. CIBC is one of the major banks used in Canada which would make the wallet option useful for more Canadians. The triangle Mastercard is on the rise and would also be a great addition to the Fitbit wallet.

Hi @TroyFit, thanks for taking the time to share your feedback with us. This feature suggestion already exists so I’ve moved your post here. Don't forget to add your vote! I also noted that you mentioned a second idea. I ask you to post only one idea per feature. That way, we can keep the board organized and searchable. This makes it easier to know which idea other members are voting for. Here is the link for another existing feature suggestion: Fitbit Pay for Triangle Mastercard (Canada)

Had the Charge 2 and it broke. I want the Versa SE for the fitbit pay but with no CIBC I will have to find a different brand of tracker.
