Challenges not Based on Steps, eg. Sports, Stairs, Active Mins

It would be nice to have different types of challenges that aren't solely based on getting our steps in.

For instance, the number of active minutes in a day, loss challenge, calories, water consumption. Some activities don't count steps such as cycling, skiing or skateboard.  I would like to be able to compete against my friends while doing other activities.

The challenges are lacking, and there is so much more that Fitbit can do in this space. Big 'yes' for some type of multi player 'virtual mountain' challenge for floors climbed

Looks like this was put forward a few years ago, but still hasn't been added as an app feature. I think there's definitely interest! Add a stair climb challenge please! The challenges are definitely a value add on this device and the more the better 🙂

I think it would be cool to have a team challenge as well. Make it so you can create a team and challenge other teams.

Please add this. I lift weights so those aren't marked as steps. I also work in an office sitting while my competition are teachers who stand most of the day. I still burn more calories but lose in steps. Would be cool to see the caloric deficit for the week and see who burned the most.

Please add climbing challenges! It's more challenging cardiovascularly and encourages variety! I haven't been running mountains lately but that might get me out there!

Next to seperate climbing challenge as suggest. I was also wondering if the daily goal of 10 or 25 could also be updated in the Workweek Hustle. Which should be a hustle of everything and not only steps.

I.e. some could take pride in achieving more active minutes then others. Even though they lost on steps.

Now for each individual these statistics are available, but it is very nice to see also of your competitors who are in other time zones how they get their steps, floors and minutes.

I am totally for the inclusion of additional criteria as mentioned for the challanges and I would like to see time spent in specific heart zones included.

"When" Fitbit decided to include these new challenge areas I would like to see a medely challenge where you compete on all areas or a selected group of areas iwith in one challenge. Se you can have multiple winners for specific areas within one challenge.

This would be somewhat like in certain sports e.g basketball, where in additon to have a winner awards are given for most points scored, most rebounds, most assists, most 3 points. etc. The creater of the challenge can chose which areas (if not all) challengers will compete on.

I'm in a challenge with my friends and while I bike to work and back everyday it won't count since everything is steps based. So I have 3-4k steps a day and 18km on bike per day and my friends are always ahead of me despite the fact that I put more effort on a daily basis. All challenges should be calories burned based and not steps. Some people are doing other kind of exercises like lifting weights, biking, etc and all of don't count but steps only.

As we speak all the challenges are steps based and is not fair for people working out. For example I ride my bike to work every day, total 18km per day, almost 100km per week, which is huge effort. Despite that all my friends are way ahead of me in all challenges because they walk or run. Other people are lifting weights, doing pushups, etc. Not everyone runs or likes walking.

All challenges should be calories burned based and not steps based.

Or, let us configure the type of challenge we want to start in terms of what kind (steps, distance, calories burned, etc) and duration (1 day, weekend, week, month).

Thank you.

Please add this quickly because the current challenges are there for ages.

I've seen the suggestion that calories burned should also be an option for challenges. But I think this should be expanded further. I think users should be able to choose any of the core metrics recorded (steps, active minutes, floors, miles) as a challenge for the week. Would be a lot better when me and my dad are trying to compete on activity but both of us like using the gym. Thanks!

You might want to add your vote to the existing request for a calorie challenge. https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Feature-Suggestions/Calorie-Challenges/idi-p/776513

I bought my parents Fitbit Charge HRs for their mothers/Father's Day gifts. I love being able to challenge them to meet their step goals, and have seen an increase in activity from both of them.
My dad hates drinking water. I'd love the ability to challenge him to drink more water, and think the competition might inspire him. I'd love to see a new challenge option to create a water challenge for the day or the week & invite my parents to participate.
Thank you for helping me to help my parents be more healthy!

It's absurd that this has not been added to the app yet after all this time. Shame!

Much like you can select what you want to focus on for your main goal: steps, calories burned, distance walked, and floors climbed- offer all of the current challenges but allow us to choose the focus before inviting friends.
OR- for the love of Pete, give us a calories burned workweek, weekend, and daily challenge.

This is a duplicate request, to avoid spreading the votes out I suggest adding your vote to Calories-Burned-Challenge

@Trischelle,

Also keep in mind that challenges based on count of calories burned are ultimately unfair.  Since calorie burn is based (at least partially) on your weight, someone who weights 250 lbs and sat all day will easily burn more calories than someone who weights 100 lbs and has worked out twice today.

I love the idea of challenging your friends, but it would be great to have different types of challenges instead of just steps. A stair challenge for example. Or maybe even a calorie or distance challenge, since FitBit tracks all this information anyway.

I love this idea, too bad it's from 2014... Do you think we'll have it by 2017? I think you should be able to compete on not just steps but also on floors, active minutes, or sleep... as others have suggested. Would love to see the floors added asap!

Thanks team
