Challenges not Based on Steps, eg. Sports, Stairs, Active Mins

It would be nice to have different types of challenges that aren't solely based on getting our steps in.

For instance, the number of active minutes in a day, loss challenge, calories, water consumption. Some activities don't count steps such as cycling, skiing or skateboard.  I would like to be able to compete against my friends while doing other activities.

I'm desperate for a sleep challenge!  The only thing I respond to is competition, at least when it comes to sleep.  My inability to get it is leading to some pretty bad side effects...weight gain(even though I get over my allotment of steps & workout 5-6 times per week) , memory loss, my skin looks more aged, mental fog, prone to injury, the list goes on and on.  Please!  Create a sleep challenge!

I think it would be helpful to have a water intake challenge.

Like to see a challenge(s) with friends involved where active minutes are used to win versus steps all the time. Active minutes are more of a challenge to accumulate but yet nothing listed, etc.

There should be a challenge on the Fitbit app from active minutes  and calories burnt it would make it a lot more fun.

Agreed - distance challenge is necessary! I have much longer legs than my friends, so they constantly beat me in steps even though when we individually compare distance, I'm in the lead.

I would like to challenge friends to other healthy habits (not just steps).

I think Fitbit would capture a much larger audience if the Challenges were expanded beyond 'steps'. Having only one type of challenge doesn't allow consumers to be as competitive with their fitbit peers. For example, I usually end up in a few group challenges per week and usually its the same people every week pulling the ranks because they have a job where they walk all day. The challenges get boring because its always the same result. It would be great to have an alternate challenge such as minutes of activity, days exercised, calories burned per day or during exercise, or even tracked sleep to make challenges more interesting and competitive. It seems like this would be fairly simple to program since its just a stat, I'm shocked this doesn't exist yet.

I agree!  I would love the ability to have an active minutes challenge, especially since many of the fitbits allow for multi-sport functions.  Tracking steps is nice, but it would be awesome to capture exercise intensity as well!

It's great the Fitbit offers challenges among friends for step based activity, however providing this as the only option does not align well with the full functionality of many Fitbit products.  Many Fitbits allow users to enter multi-sport mode exercises.  It would be difficult to have challenges based on all of the types of exercise someone does, but it would be awesome to have challenges based on active minutes, as this is standardized for each individual and would give you a better picture of more intense exercise, versus walking at any intensity.  Offering this challenge would help motivate those that don't do as much step based exercise as well.  Those challenges keep me so accountable and motivated!!

I would love to be able to set a sleep challenge with my friends on Fitbit.  Who has the most hours sleep wins etc etc!!  Go on!!!!   You can do it!!!!!

Im not winning much in regards to steps as most of my friends run lots.  Just been diagnose with a brain tumour and currently on strong meds giving me the best and longest sleeps ever!  This is my time to win!!  Hahah

Itll be realy interesting to see who of my friends manage to sleep the most even with kids!!!!  Please please do it!

New challenges to compete against your friends more along the lines of fitness tracking, such as calories burnt, exercise time, or along them lines.

ALlow for more tracking on fitness and then offer challenges along these such as weights offer input for reps and weight use for specific exercises (put a sub menu on the watch to go from selecting weights on the tracker and then 5-10 exercises you can add from thr app) use these new exercises to show reps and weight and chsllenge others to your workout and to beat it or match etc.

Hello! I recently bought a Charge 2 and with two of my friends who already had one, we entered the Workweek Hustle Challenge and it was really fun to see who'd take the most steps throughout the week (Not to brag, but I won). However, we couldn't help but notice that the challenges grew more boring as they're solely based on steps counting. It'd be a great addition to have challenges based on other "metrics" like total active minutes in the day or week, calories burned, peak heart rate that would earn you points the more active you are. I'm convinced a lot of people, perhaps the whole Fitbit community will be thrilled with that and that it'd make the experience even more interesting and compelling.
Please consider this for the next app upgrade. thanks!

I agree- an active minute challenge option is needed.

Hello.

I work at a desk 8 hours a day and don't get many steps in a day. However I do try to ensure my activity goal of at least 30minutes a day is achieved 5 days a week. It would be great to see other challenges then steps. Not everyone has steps at front of their goal.   Maybe something like most active minutes over the weekend. Or in a day. Or achieving 3 days of being active in a week.

Many thanks

Yes yes yes, I came here to ask for this feature. My job is office based so I don't get many steps in, but do loads of floors and attempt active minutes. I wish I could challenge my friends to the most floors or active minutes in a day/week! Floors would be brilliant, would just go up and down all day!

I would love to challenge friends to floors or active minutes rather than just steps! Their steps are all from their jobs, I work in an office so struggle to get them up, but workout to make up for that or run up and down the stairs.

1. More solo adventures

2. Water challenge

3. Active minutes challenge

4. Floors challenge

5. Miles challenge

6. Calories burned challenge

7. Weekly exercise challenge

8. Sleep challenge

9. Go for the green challenge (hitting all your marks for a day or week)

10. Ability to change the steps per hour notification - It only allows 250 per hour, it would be nice to be able to increase that to hit your overall goal throughout the day.

All of these things are important to your health, seems like a great idea to be able to have the options for challenges on things that may be a weak spot for yourself.

Hello! I love my Fitbit and me and my friends love challenging each other on it! However it would be great to be able to challenge each other in other ways, not just steps.

As someone who works from a computer for most of the day and I'm unable to leave my desk a lot, I find I am unable to rack up as many steps as I like. As I cycle to work (it's more convenient than walking which would mean I would have to get up even earlier than I do already) it's frustrating that this exercise isn't logged onto challenges! Would it be possible for 'exercise minutes' or 'number of days exercised' to also be a challenge option as well as just the step challenges with friends?

I do run and this helps but I feel like encompassing more than just steps into the challenges would make it an easier playing field for people like me!

Thank you!

Kate

Just an idea that I came across while being 'housebound' during a recent renovation - I was not clocking up steps but loads of flights of stairs.
For those people who either know in advance they will be in similar circumstances or more so, people who can't do the mileage but would like a challenge with flights isn't it an idea for you to create 'Flight' challenges so we can have some fun and recognition ??
Not sure if it's been suggested before but was just a thought and would like to know what you guys think x

Challenges based on your heartrate throughout a workout including max heartrate etc not just based on steps.

YES!!!! I used to be able to see my friends' sleep with my Up tracker, and it was so great for my accountability. I would LOVE to be able to share, or even just see sleep stats for my friends, and have them see mine. Sleep is the biggest reason I use my tracker, and with no sleep challenges, or ability to even see my friends' sleep, or share my sleep with them, it makes my fitbit not nearly as useful or compelling. Don't get me wrong, my Charge 2 is SOOOOO much better than my Up (especially with customer service!!!!!!) but I would love to be able to do more with sleep with my friends.
