Charge 3: Screen should turn on when a notification is received

Currently, if you receive a notification, the device vibrates but the screen does not turn on. Therefore, you have to flick your wrist or tap on the display to see what was received.

This is inconvenient as usually if you receive a notification, you naturally want to see it immediately and either ignore it or reply to it.

Here’s a VERY common use case of mine... I’m sitting at my computer, typing away, when my wrist vibrates telling me I have a notification. Instead of being able to simple glance down to see what I’m being notified about, I must raise my arm - shake it or even tap it with the other hand to see what it is! (Totally taking me away from my work!).

In my persinal opinion (and obviously many others) this is ridiculous. Obviously there is a large camp who thinks the opposite as well.

The best option if people are concerned about battery life is just to make it an option. Personally It wouldn’t run down my battery more because I like to see EVERY notification I get.

Shaking should not really work, a simply 90° rotation with the for arm being less then 30° from horihorizont would be need

The feature to turn the display on was added recently to the Versa, within 48 hours, people where complaining that there battery life has decreased.

Their is an active suggestion to have this feature removed from the Versa.

Personally it is seldom that I want to or an able to read the message when it comes, and I find it very easy to raise my arm and the display turns on.

Why should it turn on when I receive the notification, then turn on later when I want to read the notification?

In short this feature will be useless unless Fitbit gives the user an option.

Sorry Rich, im a little confused - isnt that the message you posted before?!  What do you mean by...

'Sharif should not really work, a simply 90° rotation with the for arm being less then 30° from horizontal would be need

?

If I only need gently rotate my wrist to view that would be fine, by that's rarely the case

Your rotation needs to be at least a 90° rotation with the forearm somewhat horizontal.  Let's say 25° or less from horizontal.

Problem is, when you’re laying down, all that goes out that window 😞

Could you please add a feature so that the Charge 3 would illuminate automatically when a notification is coming in?  As of right now, the Charge 3 only vibrates until you raise your arm or tap the screen.  It would be nice to take a quick glance at the device as it's automatically displaying the notification while vibrating.  Thank you!!

Unlike with the Versa,  this feature should be an option.  It took less than two days after implementing this feature, at the request of the user's, before the complaints came rolling in. Not everyone wants our needs this beauty hogging feature of instant on with notifications.

Personally I see no reason,  since I do not let the notifications roll mmt life, usually only taking a note that my wrist vibrated.

Just today bought my Charge 3 and when received notification I was under the assumption that this is some bug in my tracker.

I'm def. Voting for implementing this feature.

If there is talking about battery hog then common, notification light will eat Your batter more than those un-need random lights what gets enabled at random times?

I have disabled Screen wake but still, light enables at random moves or shake. But that's a different topic.

As one of the many that are upset with Fitbit listening to the users and adding this feature to the Versa, I find my Versa needs to be charged a day and a have earlier.

Why do I not want the light to turn on when a notification comets in? Simply because most times I receive a message I don't have the time to read it, or I don't want to read it now. Why waste the power?

@Rich_Laue are You serious? How many messages do You get in a day?

For me charge 3 enable display like hundred times per day for no reason, I would consider it a waste of power, not when a notification comes in.

I would agree that this could be an option no problem. But it would not be any power waste for sure.

It won't be as bad with the charge 3 but 3 days after the Versa received this update more than one user posted a suggestion to have this feature removed. There for I believe I'm not the only annoyed person.

Easily 30+ a day

Separate the "Turn wrist to wake screen" and "Notifications auto-wake screen" features

Illuminate the display automatically when receiving a notification Versa/ Ionic

A while ago this feature was added to the Versa, their was such a huge out cry that it wasn't very long before Fitbit disabled this feature.

For me it would be a complete waste of power in that I want the screen to turn on when I want and not when the message comes in. By the time I look at the watch it will have turned off.
