Charge 4's Spotify app avaible during activities

At the moment in the Charge 4 you can't control Spotify while an activity is running.

I suppose the reason is that "Activity" and "Spotify" are 2 separate apps inside the Fitbit. Anyway, I suggest then to update the "Activity" App and include a section (scroll right/left) to include a Spotify control page. It's a useless function the ability to control Spotify if I can't do it while I'm running... Also, why I'm supposed to use my Fitbit when I'm not running instead of my phone?

How many votes and comments will it take before Fitbit acts on this? What time perspective can we expect on an issue raised almost a year ago? Or is it time to conclude that this is something that will not be resolved?

I agree. I would like a response to the last question.

Well, this is frustrating. After a couple days of trying, I saw this thread. It really defeats the purpose of having a spotify integration.

The Spotify feature is completely useless as it's now. Are there any plans to change it?

Hi, I’m new to Fitbit... is there a way to know if the device has the technology to change this feature in the near future? If not it kind of defeats the purpose in going a run, tracking my pace and changing tracks on my Spotify which is the reason I had bought the device.. if it can’t be done? 🧐

I have to confess that it is disappointing to see I can't control Spotify with my fitbit while I am running and tracking the exercise with the watch. If I track my exercise in the app in the phone I do not get the heart rate integrated to my activity. In addition, the GPS in my fitbit is not good.

I’ve sent back my Fitbit and bought a garman 45 for an extra 35 quid, seems to have the functionality for both after a recent update.

I wish I found this out before I bought th the charge 4, only for the reason of being able to control Spotify from my wrist when I was running.

For the number of people on this thead, and the cero solutions, I now think fitbit don't care for misleading their costumers.

I dont think this suggestion we'll never see any resolution. I'll keep using my phone whilst running to change a song, playlist ... thank you very much [not!!!!]

Will be returning my Charge 4 - really misleading advertising it as having Spotify compatibility if you can't control music whilst running. Why else would you need this? This is the whole reason I bought this device. If it takes a long time or is not possible to implement a firmware upgrade to add this feature then it is surely an easy fix to make it clearer to consumers on your website

Add me to the list of people who think this is significant oversight or mistake. The first thing that I though of for Spotify control was using it during workouts.

Defeats the purpose of my purchase over the smartwatch. I'm hugely disappointed since the whole reason why you want it, is to be able to change music while you are running without having to take the phone out. Really bad marketing, I feel like I was lied to in your marketing campaign. Not a great first experience with your brand. Please update asap or otherwise I will be returning your product.

+1. Just got a Charge 4 and was looking forward to using the Spotify feature while working out only to find out i was mislead and it doesn't work that way. A pretty basic feature that should be implemented asap. That, and more c lock faces. 24 options but none of them with the sta rd i want (time+day+date+calories burned+heart rate).

Please implement this! I feel ripped off as I bought the Charge 4 specifically for the Spotify control while running. This is a simple feature and should be implemented, this is currently a terrible user experience. I may actually return my Fitbit because of this and switch to another manufacturer. Also, just because there aren't a lot of votes on this fourm doesn't mean that a lot of people aren't frustrated by this. It is likely that people are unaware of this fourm or have no interest in making an account to comment. So I speak for all of us when I say that this should be fixed ASAP. Thank you!

I've just switched to Spotify Premium in order to control my music from my Charge 4 fitness tracker while exercising, as touted in the features list. Now I find that I can only control Spotify with my fitness tracker when I'm NOT using it as a fitness tracker. So I can't use it when I really need to use it, I can only use it when I don't need it. During testing and evaluation of this feature, how did no one notice that you can't access Spotify controls while tracking an exercise, the very reason you would want to access them? This feature is therefore absolutely useless. As a software developer, I'm dumbfounded at this. Worse still, people have been mentioning this for over a year. Can anyone at Fitbit update us on when the implementation of this feature is expected to be completed. Until then, maybe the feature list should be amended to label it as "Coming Soon". It certainly isn't here yet.

I'm so disappointed that i can't control my music during a run. What is the point of this feature??! And it was not mentioned at all when I bought it.  This was the main reason i upgraded to the charge 4.  Extremely upsetting.

Agreed! It’s a useless feature if you can’t use it when working out. I’m 100% positive that if every charge 4 user knew about this way of voting in a feature update, they would, because it’s common sense from a UX perspective! JUST UPDATE IT ALREADY! This was a deciding factor in my purchase and it is unusable now.

Very misleading. I got two charge 4’s one for me and my daughter. We both bought them because of Spotify. Why wouldn’t it be linked with the workout apps. So silly. We all listen to music when we exercise. Developers please fix this.

I feel the whole point of Spotify being incorporated on the Fitbit devices is so that you can access and control your Spotify through it especially during a workout. To me it defeats the purpose if it’s not even accessible. I would love if this could be altered in the future. It would be very helpful.

Adding a comment to leave my support for this feature.

I just bought the Charge 4 (upgrade from the Charge 2) and may end up returning it because of the lack of this feature.

+1 for this feature please. Similar to other people here I was pretty surprised and disappointed when I discovered I couldn’t track a run and control Spotify. It’s obviously the main (only?) reason you’d want Spotify controls on a fitness tracker.

Also just pointing out that your marketing site currently says “Amp up your workout when you control music” which is pretty misleading.

hey  @Fitbit !

I think it's time to give a real re-read of what users are really thinking of your product. We are dozen here that voted and commented about our pain... A fitness tracker should help you through the pain of their exercise, not give them more trouble :S

I agree with and echo all the frustrations shared in this thread.  Not only was this poor planning by the developers or just a completely ridiculous oversight, the communications around this is misleading and Fitbit should be addressing this as a priority feature update.  Especially frustrating when a new Charge 5 is launched and existing KEY features on Charge 4 are not fixed yet.  I am on a team that has developed a health app and from my experience, this is just something that could be and should be addressed quickly, especially with the resources you have over at Fitbit.

Please address this soon.
