I'm giving up on Fitbit... Here's the new Wear OS device from Fossil. Has all the features of Versa/Ionic (NFC/GPS/HR monitor/water resistance) with the much broader Google/Wear OS ecosystem
I upgraded to the Ionic months ago for its smartwatch capabilities and was especially interested in Fitbit Pay. I am still waiting for either Citibank or USAA support (preferably both). Come on Fitbit!
Can someone @ FitBit please let us users know what sort of data you need us to provide to you to make you realize that CITIGROUP IS THE FIFTH LARGEST BANK IN THE USA AND THEREFORE PROBABLY SHOULD BE SUPPORTED LIKE A YEAR AGO???
Little facts like that.Citi say's the onus is on FitBit. FitBit tries to say it's up to Citi. I'm inclined to believe Citi in this case. Meanwhile us users get stuck in the middle of this adolescent finger-pointing by big corporations which for some reason can't seem to get their act together for basic features and support.
Next upgrade will not be Fitbit if Citi Cards is not added to Fitbit pay. This is such an obvious need that I can't believe it has to even be requested, much less now
Please please please support Fitbit Pay on Costco Citibank. I love my Blaze and want to upgrade to the Versa SE but this is holding me back .With the sales right now I can get a Samsung S3 Gear for only $10 more than the Versa SE and Samsung pay supports many more cards. Please don't make me leave the Fitbit family!
Unfortunately Fitbit has been silent for months and appears to have no interest in adding Citibank to Fitbit Pay or allowing their loyal users to purchase their new products and use any combination of the Ionic, Versa & Charge 3 on the same account.
Fitbit was very attractive to me initially because you could enjoy and easily switch between the Blaze, Charge 2, Alta & Flex 2 but for the new products they force you to just choose either the Ionic or Versa or Charge 3.
Dont give up, I'm sure Citi will be on board and added eventually, just need to wait. I've had the Ionic prior to its official launch and there were only three banks listed. My bank didnt show up for almost a year, I would guess 9 months about. What you could try to do is call Citi and request they support Fitbit Pay. I did that with my bank, of course they weren't going to initially do anything to support it but then many customers started trying to setup Fitbit Pay anyway, which obviously failed, but it had a side affect. The banks fraud department ended up calling me about this odd event with my card and wanted to check in. I told them I was trying to setup Fitbit Pay which is like Samsung Pay and the agent was like "Ohhhh!" And let it be known they had a huge influx of these alerts all week and thought it was a massive security breach. Well, the fraud department got a crash course education about Fitbit Pay, and it's now supported. Could try doing that as well. Prior to calling my bank initially, Fitbit support stated there was an agreement that the bank has to setup in order to participate, of course I dont know if that is true or if the agent was just trying to get me off the phone. Anyway, hope this helps a wee bit, and if it does feel free to share.
Pretty bummed Citibank is not supported. I’m loving my Versa, but when it’s time to upgrade in a year or two it’ll be Apple Watch time. Payments are a huge perk to not have considering I paid for the feature and can’t use it because of some corporate squabbling!
Fitbit refuses to add Citibank to Fitbit Pay and refuses to address the issue that you can only have the Ionic OR Versa OR Charge 3 connected to your account and can’t have them all connected and interchange at will like you previously could with the Blaze, Charge 2, Alta, etc.
This is verbatim what I got from "Evelyn" at Citi customer service:
FitBit have not approached Citi to add us on the list, once they add us we will consider the agreement, and we will approve their approach as FitBit is another massive growing payment get way.
