Climbing Mode

Charge 2 has an altimeter but does not register altitude change when rock climbing. I am guessing this is because the accelerometer readings do not match any of the automatically recognised activities. Heart rate is registered though. Rather than have Charge 2 automatically recognise rock climbing (hard), why not have a climbing mode that forces the Charge 2 to register altitude change, even when the motion of the user would not indicate a recognised activity? Climbing is my main form of exercise. It is frustrating that Charge 2 has all the sensors required, but does not log climbing as exercise. Thank you.

Good idea, thanks for taking the time to share it with us. Keen to hear what others think?

Thanks the quick reply. Is love to know what others think. There are several posts on the forum about rock climbing and I know of at least one other person using a fitness band at my local indoor wall. It is an increasingly popular sport that will feature in the next Olympics. I love all that my fitbit does, but wish it did just a little bit more. Thanks.

I bought the charge 2 just for the reason it is counting floors, so i can use it for rock climbing, since i move more vertical than horizontal. now i got very disappointed since its not counting elevation at all while rock climbing. Therefore i really welcome the input of Slartybartfast.

Further i would also appreciate if the unit of the elevation can be changed (like distance can also be set in kilometers or miles). floors doesen't make sense at all for me. i would use meters.

There really should just be a general climbing preset

I know climbing is a broad topic, there's indoor climing, outdoor climbing, sports climbs, bouldering etc. that all come under this.

Things I would want tracked would be average heart rate during the exercise period as well as elevation data if it were outdoor (I'm an avid indoor climber/boulderer who goes outdoors occasionally)

I've seen lots of people with fitbits while climbing, it's sad that none of them are getting activity logging done

Colorado a.d many other states have a very dedicated climbing community. I would love to see this be recognized by the fitbit community as well. I have climbed with many others while wearing a fitbit.

It would be very valuable to me and many others to be able to track our heart rate, # of pitches, and elevation gained while putting in time at the gym or on a rock face.

Please consider bringing our passion for the sport and lever of dedication to your family of fitbit users.

Adding rock climbing to the exercise shortcut through my charge 3 or any other Fitbit would be so amazing! I rock climb regularly so it would really help easily tracking my climbing workouts, and climbing is also becoming more popular and people like options when it comes to their type of activity.
