Decide if you want to delete recent/frequent food entries

1. You can add custom food entries which you can delete via the web interface - please allow deletion of these foods on the apps as well.

2. When you add foods to your recent/frequent list you cannot delete them anymore and so the list just grows and grows. Please let us delete these entries in the apps.

We need to have a way of deleting items from the favorites/recent list in the food log from the app.  Shouldn't have to log on from a computer on the web to do it either, but that should be able to be done that way also.

Please add this much-needed feature to the mobile app.  I have dozens of foods cluttering up my list that I do not need to store,  and there's currently nothing that I can do.

It seems especially ridiculous that there's a delete button under "edit food " but it has no actual function.

I would put out a challenge to the fitbit app developers and code writers saying that they are obviously inadequate at what they do since I am starting to think that after eons of people asking to have this feature fixed and getting no response whatsoever, that it is not that they are unwilling, but technologically incapable of doing so. But since begging and pleading has done nothing to change this, I seriously doubt that questioning their abilities is going to work. It has come down to where instead of using the food log all the time, I have to write items down on paper when I am eating something that I probably will not eat again in a long while, so that I can discard it at the end of the day. Defeats the whole purpose of the log.

I would like to be able to delete unnecessary foods from the Fitbit HR Charger Food Log.  Many of the pre-existing items have incorrect calories, duplicates, hundred of items include restaurants which I have never heard of nor in my area, and lastly when typing a new custom food I inadvertently make a typo.

   Thank you for your consideration!

I agree with Samuel_83, it is horrible that I can't delete food items from my frequent and recent lists.  I entered a half bismark donut the other day on my recent list instead of custom(where I can delete). Now I can't delete it. Shame on you Fitbit for not fixing this by now; the ability to delete all foods from all lists that we plan on no longer eating or are only going to eat once in a blue moon. Your initial instructions with logging food when setting up a Fitbit should also include how to properly log in food.

Whoops, meant to comment under another suggestion and, apparently, you can't delete a comment once made!

You need to tell us how you do this please, because I have been trying to delete recent foods from my list on both my desktop and my app for over two years and can’t do it. The list under “private foods” and on which items can be deleted does not contain all the items on either my most frequent or most logged list. Those remain intact.

So… please uncomplicate it for us with step by step instructions.

Thank you,

I agree. It seems to me that Fitbit would have a resolution to this by now. How is it that we can not delete food items that havent been used in months and in some cases years. Horrible to go to a list that is titled recent and there are items from over a year ago listed. There should be a way to resolve this. If you can delete foods from a list that you have custom made you should be able to delete from all lists.

I haven't seen any updates yet that address this problem. Hopefully soon 🙂

Hi all this is OSOK,

I never add foods anymore to my Frequent or Recent list. I only add it on the custom list, that way it can be deleted later. If using a barcode I do not use the Scan Barcode Icon on the quick link area.  I use the barcode on the Log Food screen, after making sure I am in the custom food portion of the screen. I also do manual entries in the custom food "Add Custom Food" only if I know the calorie count for the food.  I don't bother with the frequent/recent list anymore.  As a FYI if you use the barcode scan and your in the frequent/recent foods portion of the screen the food will then be there forever. So only scan barcodes in the custom foods portion of the Log Food screen.

Whenever I look up a food on the database or create a custom food it is added to one of these lists. Frequent, recent or custom There is no option to delete these lists. I suggest that Fitbit program the software so we, the users, can delete these lists and start over.

Do Fitbit personnel read these suggestions? If not we are wasting our time.

OSOK,

Your suggestion is a good one. How can I delete items listed under custom foods?

OSOK

Hi jbford,
I have a I Phone so to delete the custom foods if I no longer need them is easy on the I Phone app. Follow these steps:

1. Go to Food Log

2. Be on the custom food tab.

3. Look for the Edit (on I Phone it's in the upper left corner).

4. Touch the Edit, you'll notice a pencil now on all the food rows.

5. Touch the food you want to delete. That food will now open.

6. Look for the delete tab and touch it, food is now deleted.

You can also go to the Fit Bit website and in the food section there is a portion for food management and meals. Make sure you're on the food section and as you click on individual foods it will give you the option of deleting these foods off of your custom list.

I hope this helps.

Just commenting to add support to this two-year-old suggestion. (Which is, for some reason, labeled as a mobile suggestion, even though the same issue exists when I access the website on my desktop.)

It'd be really nice to remove items from the "most frequently" eaten category. I have an item popping up on the list now that I haven't eaten for ages, even though the vegetables I had every single day this past week or the protein drink I've had 3-5 times a week for the past month aren't on there. Plus, I've always tried to be good about logging whatever I ate -- junk food or healthy food -- and I don't want a reminder in my face about the pizza I used to eat all the time. Some of the food items on the list aren't even made by the company anymore (or at least, are no longer sold/available in my area).

So surprised that something as simple as deleting foods we don't want to see anymore still hasn't been implemented...

I too would like to be able to remove foods from my recent and frequent food lists. I have already amassed a long list and I have only been using my Blaze for a few days. I'm sad to see that this idea was put forth first in 2014 and we are now in 2017 and the issue has not been addressed. I can maybe understand not being able to do it from the mobile app but I would think something could be done on the website that would allow these lists to be edited. Please, please consider fixing this issue. I can't believe that there aren't a lot of people out there with long lists that they would like to edit and par down. Thank you for letting me tell you how I feel. I hope to see this issue addressed soon. Thanks again!

Molly57,
One of things to do so things won't store directly into frequent or recent is do not store new foods in them. Only store new foods in custom. Also if scanning a new food, scan while in the custom mode. One of things since doing this is that my frequent and recent food lists have gotten smaller. Items do eventually drop off. The only things that stay are my normal daily and true frequent/recent foods. Also when logging my daily food I try pulling it off my recent or custom list only. Hope this email helps. OSOK
